Looking for those who had sleeve in August 2015
Lealor - I truly feel the reason I was gaining and losing the same few pounds was because of SNEAKY carbs. They would pop into my mouth without my knowledge! How dare they !! Ever since eliminating the sneaky stuff, I've been consistently going down on the scale... 30 more to go!

Need a Healthy Snack
I went online to find these and they sell them at Whole Foods and Market Basket. I braved below zero wind chills to go to Whole Foods in the city and they didn't have them but I did find their version... they sell "Parm Crisps" - 22 servings per box - each serving is only 5g, each serving has 20 calories, 1 gram of fat, 0 carbs, 2 g protein. Only ingredient is parmesan cheese. They are tasty, but expensive - the box was almost $8 I am going to look for the Whisps at Market Basket this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

Self-soothing and comfort foods post bariatric surgery.
My "comfort" foods are hot tea, or creamy Soups - I like eating something hot to warm me up. The creamy soups are veggie based and aren't too high in calories. You said you are tactile - do you have a favorite blanket or throw that you can wrap around yourself, sit in a comfy chair, have a cup of hot tea or a bowl of Soup and read a book? Have you ever given any thought to a weighted blanket? I've been hearing a lot about these being great for people with anxiety. I'm looking into them myself.

Starting my journey - Boston Ma
Short stuff.....my mom is having her surgery on 3/21 too with Dr. Kim. I had my VSG last Aug at St. Elizabeth's. I went to immersion day with my mom in December. I really like the psych doc at Mt. Auburn, Dr. Greenberg. Mt. Auburn has a good program ???? Sorry to hear your endoscopy did not go well. Hopefully the rest of the process will go much smoother for you.

Fat Acceptance Movement - how do you feel?
I haven't had time to read all the replies but this is my .02 I don't understand why people feel it's ok to shame, bully, humiliate, tease, or be downright cruel to overweight/obese people. It's like because we/they are fat we must be lazy or immoral or stupid. If people could just treat each other with kindness and respect...! Sorry about the rant but it seems like fat people and smokers are the last two acceptable groups to insult, etc.

Looking for those who had sleeve in August 2015
I have been losing/gaining the same 2-3lbs for the last month. It's discouraging, but I think I'm finally through with this cycle. My body hasn't been under 200lbs since I was a teenager and I think it is revolting. My brain certainly was. I was eating too many carbs. It was easy enough to do. Once I kicked the extra carb habit I've dropped to my lowest weight so far. As of today I have lost exactly 100lbs. I hope everyone is doing well

Completely Emotional...
You are not losing your mind. Are you talking to anyone? A therapist? If you know you have food addiction issues get a therapist now....you'll be happy you did!

What are you doing for Lent?
Giving up chocolate and Peanut Butter. Limiting myself to two cups of decaf coffee a day. That was my original intent. I am now going to add to the list: Limit - coffee - decaf, no more than 2 cups a day, Power Crunch Bars - no more than 2 a week. NO - chocolate, peanut butter (I'm the most about this one!), crackers, Cookies, candy. It's mostly stuff I shouldn't be eating anyway, so I can/need to do it!

Care to share?
Ok so I am losing hair - to me it feels like A LOT....but honestly, it really isn't that bad. It's around the crown/top of my forehead/sides and if I'm standing directly under a bright light you might notice??? I've found ways to style my hair so it's not noticeable. NOW if I pulled it back in a tight pony tail - you might notice then...but I'm not doing that I know it will get better and it is starting to grow back, my hairdresser can attest to that!

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!
I am 45, never smoked....I have some loose skin on my arms, stomach, and thighs. It's the stomach that is the worst. I have about 30lbs left to go. I'll see how it feels once I'm at goal but it doesn't bother me too much. I would rather have the skin than be that heavy again....I can do so much more!

Confessional: Old habits are creeping back in
It's hard. I've been stalled but it's my own fault because those slider foods have creeped back in. Are you talking to anyone? A therapist? I have to go back to basics. I didn't come this Fargo blow it. Purge your house of the junk, get active and Protein first.....I am also going back to tracking to be accountable. Best of luck...you can do it.

Mardi Gras and Lent - good excuse to give up something you've been using for a cheat?
I am going to give up chocolate for Lent. I know I shouldn't be eating it, but some days when I REALLY REALLY REALLY just want something I give in and have a KISS or two or three. It's not good. So chocolate is it. I also love natural Peanut Butter with apple slices, but I think it can be a trigger food for me so that's going to be given up for Lent too. I haven't had ANY alcohol since 4/1/2015 so I can't give that up I also do not drink any kind of soda. I could try to limit my coffee intake to 2 cups or less a day. When it's cold out I do love my decaf hazelnut. Chocolate and peanut butter - totally abstain and coffee - 2 cups or less.....BAZINGA. That's going to do it for this buffet Catholic!

Family Hurts
I agree with Loopylulu...it sounds to me like you should be prepared for your mutual friends to know. I would bet from the conversations that you have already had with your sister that she's told people. Here is my story - Like you I wanted to keep my surgery a secret. At first, I only told a few VERY close friends and my immediate family. One of those friends told a lot of other people about my surgery. At first, I was hurt. But then I realized the reason she told other people was because she was so happy for me and genuinely excited about my weight loss journey. Was what she did right? No. She should not have told them. I do have to say though that once I realized so many people knew, that it was a relief for me. Now when people ask me about my weight loss (I've lost almost 100 lbs so people notice) I find myself surprised at how open I am with them about it. I have nothing to be ashamed of. Now I don't think your sister is coming from the same place as my friend. To me it sounds like she is jealous of you, which is not a good thing for either of you. If you continue to have those conversations with your sister you run the risk of more heartache for yourself and more arguments. I would accept the fact that she is going to blab and deal with it now.
