  1. how can you possibly know that it doesnt work for "most" people?? i mean, if youre saying its not working for you, then fine. if youre saying it hasnt worked for people you know or have seen, okay. but im just wondering what qualifies you to say that it doesnt work for most people.
  2. i'll see if she has one....my people (me, my friends and family) tend to not cook with recipes most of the time! its super useless to other people. lol ive done the cabbage spaghetti before....its REALLY good with alfredo sauce!
  3. This is definitely something I've been thinking about a well. this liquid diet has definitely put a spotlight on the food focus in my life. I personally plan to focus on all the things I've been too fat to do before. Im gonna go out more, hit some amusement parks this summer, travel by p plane....basically the stuff I've wanted to do in the event that I began to take up less space. Maybe take some dance classes too! of course there will be shopping, too! In fact, my first mini goal is to no longer be too fat for my home scale. I'm 23 lbs away and when I hit it, I'm getting some new boots!
  4. Oh! That sounds disturbing! Is it more of a ' not chewing' thing or an eating too much thing, usually?
  5. I'm 12 days into my two week liquid diet and it still sucks. I'm not a sweets person, so shakes are fine but im eventually going to need some savory! I've had lots of cheats, mostly turkey bacon or something else that's high Protein and low carb. I had a doctor visit 8 days in and had lost ten pounds. I can't wait to get back to my low carb lifestyle - no shakes allowed! At least not in the beginning.
  6. really?!?! I've heard of going the other way round-band to bypass, but never bypass to band.
  7. there is a possibility that you aren't taking in enough calories and you have gone into starvation mode. Why can't you continue low carving with the band, if that was successful for you? Also, soup may be one of the least useful things for us to eat (according to my nutritionist) because it can up our calorie count but since it slides right through the band, it leaves you hungry very soon after. It's hardly worth it, really. It's like eating and drinking at the same time. Maybe drink less of your calories?
  8. How does it feel and how will I know its happening?
  9. It's just neverending! Because people actually live here, there is always food around! Its a compulsive snacker's nightmare....or dream, I suppose! And then the staff or the clients order take out. And then the staff is constantly baking and bringing things in. just brutal.
  10. Maybe if you get gastric bypass and then stretch your stomach out until it's back to the original size....the pouch, I mean. One could conceivably get a lapband in that instance I would think, but yeah, good luck finding a reputable doctor who would do it.
  11. A friend of mine makes a fantastic potato soup in her crockpot, and when the ingredients are nice and soft she hits it with the immersion blender and smooths it all out. I can't wait to try it out!
  12. Oooh, good point! Who ARE you people? Lol I live in philly (USA) and am a therapist (mental health). I'm scheduled for surgery on tuesday, and I'm super nervous! Gathering information eases my anxiety, so I've been compulsively reading this site, making lists and watching youtube videos for the past couple of months!
  13. the single incision thing is pretty new, as i understand it....im not sure that all doctors are able to do it. i think i'll have the 5 incisions, but i hadnt heard of the single before a few days ago... so, do they put the port in your belly button, then?
  14. im excited, but that talk with the anesthesiologist was, frankly, terrifying!! lol
  15. so, the clients have cleaned up dinner (although some ordered pizza delivered!) and i am finally free! lmao! that was a BRUTAL internal struggle! I ended up making phone calls and drinking a shake and keeping my behind at this desk until i was sure they were done!
  16. Im a therapist in a residential facility and the problem with being a therapist in a residential facility while you are on a two week liquid diet is that there is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS food AROUND!!!! This is killing me! Especially when I know that tonight they have one of my most favorite dinners! And I'm so used to eating what the clients eat. And lets not even START with all the carby/sweety/junky/snacky foods that are just always on hand! I'm going to try to not even go into the kitchen while dinner is still out. If I go in there, I AM coming back to the office with something to eat. Its not even a question! Ack! I hate everything! okay, vent over. anyone else have issues with food at work?
  17. I don't feel so alone now! I'm on my droid right now, sitting in my car in the parking lot outside my job!
  18. I am seriously here ALL DAY! and now that I have a smart phone with internet access....let's just say, I think I am developing a problem!
  19. super congrats to you!! thanks for the updates and letting us know what we can expect! wishing you all a speedy recovery!
  20. great loss and good luck, shells!
  21. mine is on the 18th and i am failing miserably at this liquid diet!! i just had a couple slices of cheese. i couldnt take it anymore! but tomorrow i will be better! oh, and i live in philly.
  22. i havent had that experience at all....some of them make me gassy though.
  23. pretty much everything is covered by my insurance. i am VERY fortunate. ive paid countless $10 and $15 co-pays over the past year. my hospital's bariatric program has a $350 program fee....that covers the nutrionist visits, the classes, the psych consult and one other thing that completely escapes me right now! lol...i'll edit this post when i remember. everything else has been covered. i had a sleep study and i needed a c-pap, i was expecting to have to dole out for that, but NOPE! covered by insurance! even the guy at the medical supply place who fitted me and set me up was surprised that it was completely covered. and this thing is NICE! i looked it up online and its over $1200!
  24. youve already gotten some good advice. i just want to add that im hearing from lots of bandsters that your tastes can change after surgery. that has made me reluctant to stock up TOO much on shakes and things because liking them now doesnt necessarily guarantee that i'll like them later on. also, check out the favorite Protein shakes thread...there's lots of reviews in there!
