Meat not so much - ughh
- Meat not so much - ughh
No grease in gravy. I have also tried without gravies. I know sugar will def send me running! The meat is as lean as you can get! I think I'm hearing be patient eventually this too shall pass! ????- Meat not so much - ughh
I use to love my meats BUT now I have real issues. Even with eggs. I have disguised them with light gravies and grits on my eggs. When I eat them (meat or eggs) I am running to the bathroom and not to throw up. They go straight through me! I am 10 weeks post op and should be able to eat but I'm stuck in a real food funk. Anyone else having these issues? I have lost 60lbs - woot woot BUT fearful of too fast of a loss in 10 weeks. Any food suggestions would be great too!- family support
As much as I hate to say this because I experience this as well in my own home, this must be said, it is time to focus on you. This is a tough time for you and you need the support but when you don't get it - it is time to say "it's about me". Take control and know that this phase will pass and when it does you start slipping in healthy foods to your husband. Mine has not figured out that he ate turkey chill and meatloaf the other day. He has turkey sausage with his Breakfast and there are more fresh vegetables than there used to be. You make the change at home and when he is away from home these are his choices. 11 days has passed you're doing great. It gets boring but have no fear I am 2 months out and I have had my ups and downs BUT you get through it. I am down 54 pounds! Feeling great and looking forward to the new me! You got this. You take control of you and then it will only roll out to your husband! Hopefully that made some sense?- How has your relationships changed?
- The one thing I can't wait to wear...
I was fantasy shopping last weekend. Looking at different styles and wondering what mine would be. When I was younger I was a preppy dresser. I think I will go for semi sexy dresser! I'm thinking short skirt with knee high boots and a white button up blouse and a cute jean jacket! Move over skinny girls I'm coming to a store near you! Life is good!- How has your relationships changed?
- Feeling like a Rock Star
8 Weeks post op yesterday! Fifty-four pounds lost thus far! My biggest challenges have been eating enough and not getting frustrated or depressed when going out to eat! Used to be my favorite past time but now finding it a real challenge! Traveling has been difficult but manageable. It's all good and worth it! Thinking positive thoughts!!!- Changing my mindset...
I just want to be able to eat and enjoy anything at this point. I tried a bite of a cookie once and the sugar sent me puking! I don't crave it all. My NUT said the same thing - don't deprive yourself however be mindful it's a treat not a habit! I would love to have a piece of pizza BUT I'm scared of puking!- Dry Mouth
Well I still have dry mouth! Ugggghhh! Cough drops work at night but during the day it's a battle. Good news not dehydrated. I have found a mouth wash that I'm doing and that helps but not solving my problem. I found out that artificial sweeteners are the main issues. I was drinking Powerade zero like crazy to get the electrolytes and it was defeating the purpose. It was actually making it worse. This includes the sugar free Jello and pudding. So now I'm drinking infused Water that I'm making myself and hope that between this and the mouthwash I will overcome. The dry mouth has affected my eating as well. The taste of all foods have changed so my caloric intake has been very small. If there is hardly taste to the food I can handle it. Upside is I'm down 51 lbs and I was sleeved on 8/20. I just can't wait to get back on track and feel normal again! Or should I rephrase that as "Sleeve Normal" again!- Dry Mouth

Thank you thank you thank you! Cough drops worked! Today I'm drinking like a fish!!!!- Dry Mouth
I love you guys for answering so quickly today! This site is awesome. Anytime anyone has a question someone can share their experience or knowledge! Thank you for answering - you've answered my concern and fear this was the case. I've increased my intake of liquids today and trying really hard to get it in. I will try the G2 1/2 and 1/2. Thanks again!!!!- tortilla 5weekspost op.
Wow I'm amazed y'all able to eat what you are! I'm starting my 5th week and are on soft foods. I have been having issues tolerating chicken, eggs, and ground beef! I don't seem to be able to eat much. Breakfast consist of 3 tablespoons of cream of wheat. I can't imagine eating a wrap! Believe me I would like too but it isn't happening just yet!- Dry Mouth
Has anyone experienced dry mouth at night? I wake up and feel like I'm thirsting to death! I keep water by my bed but doesn't seem to helping at all. I don't experience it during the day but as soon as I go to sleep I experience this. I'm losing sleep over this. Waking up every 2 hours to get a drink of water.- Post op taste or food changes?
I have definitely lost some taste for food. No longer like eggs, chicken is a struggle and beef is a struggle. I don't crave sweets at all nor chips or salty things. Water I have to have lemon or lime in it. Plain I do not like. It has not been a bad thing. I've lost 42 lbs so far and I was sleeved a month ago on Aug 20th!- Just went for bloodwork
Great idea! Perhaps I will drink my lemon Water from a fancy wine glass tonight!!! Didn't think of that! Good luck on your surgery! Preparing physically and mentally is a must! Keeping your eye on the prize will keep you going!!- Just went for bloodwork
I have lost 38lbs since my surgery on Aug 20th! Holy crap! Blood pressure was perfect! Life is GREAT!- went to the LA County fair last night. oh my, all the FOOD...
I agree with everything on here. BUT in somewhat of an off comment it's not just in America. European fairs are just as guilty. I believe for myself it wasn't the food availability but my self control that got me here. I could have picked a healthier alternative but I chose not to. I have accepted my responsibilities and my bad choices. I now choose the good. Of course now I have more of a push but mentally I don't want it any more. First 40 years was given to me. The next 40 I have to fight for! I'm actually 46 it would not have made sense! Lol.- Food didnt settle well
Yeppers learned my lesson. Tomorrow is another day! I will measure everything!- Food didnt settle well
I've officially joined the puke club! First day tried soft foods. I have a greater appreciation for puréed foods now!- Eggs Protein Source *sigh* no more - Atlantic Cod Recipe suggestions?
Sounds wonderful! I made my fish with a little salt and pepper with lemon juice and olive oil and it was awesome! Right now Greek yogurt is my saving grace! Seems like the one thing my taste buds aren't turned off by!!- Day 3...psychological chalkenges
Sorry to hear this KCSG! I remember day 3 questioning what the heck did I do? Am I that crazy? Then I reminded myself there is no turning back and pain goes away! I'm 16 days post op and I have lost 26 lbs. It gets easier both mentally and physically as days pass. Just remember to walk walk walk. There's a reason they tell you to do this; 1). Gets things moving 2). Blood flow 3). It just makes you feel better overall. You'll get through this! I promise! Deb.- Eggs Protein Source *sigh* no more - Atlantic Cod Recipe suggestions?
Thanks everyone for your tips! I'm so excited about trying out the different things everyone pointed out! Love this site! Everyone is so supportive! - Meat not so much - ughh
