4 weeks out need protein help
Hummm, may have to see if I have some pudding...didn't think about actually making it and adding protein powder to it. Right now I just made a shake of unflavored powder, frozen peach slices and some almond milk. I was told to stay away from the grocery store shakes as they have lots of carbs etc, but I guess Atkins wouldn't. The beans may be something to think about. I did try some baked cod and took a bite and it was too dry. I made a pbutter banana shake one nite and looked at the calories. pbutter has a lot...I guess I need to find a sugar free version? Thanks for the ideas

4 weeks out need protein help
Four weeks out today. I have been eating soft foods for the last week. Besides cottage cheese and Greek yogurt, what are good protein foods to eat? I did eat half a chicken thigh one night...and tuna...But I really need a change. What do you eat?

Frustrated Beyond Belief & Having Second thoughts ...
Please don't give up. They are just taking precautions for you health. Call and get another date and get back on the preop diet. I am 4 weeks out. I have a 4 oz tupperwear bowl. If it don't fit..it doesn't get eaten and most of the time I only eat half. You will feel it...and when you feel it don't force it. As far as hurting, I took myself off pain meds the next morning...just refused them and hadn't had any since, but that is me and I'm a real whimp.

Mexico Doctor Questions
I went to Dr Kelly. I went direct with him and not thru a service. Pre-op diet...yes they will email it to you Post-op diet...they will send you home with one Does the Doctor provide pain meds...yes, you get plenty in the hospital, then you get a bag when leaving with antibiotics and pain meds....I never used the pain meds Does the Dr./Nurse speak English clearly. I will be on my own...yes the dr does. I had mine done at florence and most did speak English, some a little, some just enough Is there a TV and internet in the hospital. ...yes, there are both at Florence, but I believe Dr Kelly is using Nova now.... Do they give a leak test before leaving? How were incisions closed? Will I need a follow up in the states to have something removed...mine were glued Hopee this helps. I had a good experience and all is well.

Aftercare?
I used Dr Kelly. As far as after care in TJ, he came to the hotel a few times to check on me and talk. I talked to my regular dr at home before going. He gave me his blessing and wanted to see me 1 month later...which is tomorrow. He's doing my after care. I went in and had blood tests and tomorrow he will look over all of my testing from down there...I'm already of sugar meds..hopefully cholestrol too tomorrow. I would talk to your dr about after care.

SO CONFUSED...struggling with a decision
I knew my insurance wouldn't cover it. I checked on Summa up here in Akron. They said it was denied and I could contest it or see if my hubbies work could add it etc in Dec. Forget all that crap and wasting my time. I just self paid. Yeah, we had to tap the savings but my health was worth it. Did a good 2 months of research, called and had it scheduled for 2 weeks later....only because of the liquid diet. It went so quickly and I was virtually pain free. I used the same as westcoastlady and went direct. I'm now 3 weeks post op and doing just fine.

Should I ask Mexico Bariatric Centre for reinbusement for ....
Yes, I would ask for a refund. This is why I booked directly with my Dr. I got what I was paying for and more. It seems I am hearing more and more about how that company is switching things around. You book with certain companies as you researched and found out exactly what you wanted. Yes, for sure ask...

Obesity's 'Disease' Status May Spur Surgeries, Drug Research
Just read the article...and the comments. I have been a yoyo dieter all of my life. I was a chubby kid and turned in to an obese adult. I have been on every fad diet and weight watchers. I joined a gym last year to try again to take responsibility for my health. Being 100 pounds over weight the skinnies gave me dirty looks and re-wiped the equipment down after i got off and wiped it down. Maybe they thought I had a disease??? I have again tried to take responsibility for myself. My insurance company didn't pay for my surgery...I paid cash for it!!!Why do people think we like being overweight??? They think I like having my bones ache? Being on sugar and cholesterol meds? What the hell are wrong with these people. I would've written a what for in the comments, but I didn't want to waste my time signing in.

The good, the bad & the ugly... Mexico Bariatric Center, Dr. Kelly, MI Hospital
I just got an email back from Lora. She said yes they are using Nova now as Florence was way overcrowded with 3 surgeons. She said it was a bigger more expensive hospital. It looks very nice.
