  1. I didn't get a bariatric card. I've heard of secret menus before, but thanks for the tip on Panera. I remember when the Atkins diet was all the rage. I did it and lost about 60 pounds...but I found it again. Burger King had a low carb sandwich...or should I say it as all the fixins without the bun....lol
  2. I was looking at apps also, but hubby said here's a nice full lunch for the same price. Good idea about the thermal bag...although today was a spur of the moment. I have had a few Wendy's chilis...small of course. Burgers just don't sound good. Trying to stay away from bread. And all RL had on the lunch menu was fried fish. Staying away from fried stuff too. Ugh...thought of grease makes me nauseas.
  3. lol too...I thought of George when I read that...how funny
  4. So today we did some shopping for my daughters wedding in 2 weeks. I wanted to wait till the last minute to purchase clothes. Well, I've lost 45 pounds but seems my old clothes are really really loose, but new clothes are the same size I'm losing every place but my belly.....tops loose at shoulders but still need the girth around the belly. Anyway, we stopped at Red Lobster for lunch. Thought lunch would be good, much smaller portions. Got scallops and shrimp, broiled of course. I took 1 very tiny tiny tiny piece of my hubbies biscuit....I don't want to feel deprived of anything. Ate about half the shrimp and scallops, a bite of the roasted squash and was done. Took the rest home and it sat in a hot car for an hour and had to throw it out. I think next time I will just take a small part of hubbies dinner...it will help him lose also. Anyone got any good tips and special restaurants they use?
  5. I feel the same way, really lucky. I had no problems. The weight is a bit slow coming off though. That's my only complaint.....
  6. I got some of these little tuna kits. They don't need refrigerated. Also you can get jello, pudding and applesauce cups that need no refrigeration.
  7. I didn't have time to do that. By the time I got figured out who was to do my surgery, I had 2 weeks until. For those 2 weeks, the first week cut out carbonated drinks, chewed my food to a paste (took so long to eat I got bored half way through and quit), the 2nd was pure liquid...lost 14 pounds those 2 weeks...then off to surgery. It's been 2 months, down close to 45 pounds. I'm still weary about raw veggies, but everything else is good...in very small moderation. Remember the first bite is always the best.
  8. The gas is not that bad. It's the gas they blow your stomach up from the leak test when having surgery. At first I didn't know what it was, just pain, until I talked to the nurses. Then....you better believe the first twinge I was up. I was at Lucerna also. So very nice. Relaxed by the pool, went for walks....the staff was pleasant. Room service good....
  9. I lose 10, stall for a few, lose 10 and stall a few weeks. Just stay with your program. You don't want to lose too fast.
  10. Dang....wish it would help us. My costs are below 7.5%. Maybe i should get something else done this year
  11. I too used Dr Kelly at Oasis of Hope. I would do it again in a heart beat. Now this is just me and everyone has their own experiences....going to Mexico was absolutely no wait at all, not even a car in sight. Coming back took us 20 minutes with a medical pass. I was up walking next morning as we hadn't slept in about 24 hours and was just wore out. Flight in from Ohio...I did walk alot. At the first sign of a little pain between the shoulder blades, gas x strip and walk. You will meet lots of people in your walks. Dr Kelly came to my hotel twice. He told me I did not have to crush my meds with the sleeve, so I didn't and was fine. As for meds, I quit taking pain meds the next morning after surgery. The groginess I felt was worse than the pain. I also booked directly with him. You get a better leak test at a different hospital. Name escapes me right now. Good luck...best thing I have done for myself.
  12. Wow...you can see your hard work. Going from a 24 to a 20 in 2 months??? I started at a 24 and have lost about 43 lbs since mid May....and I'm still wearing that darn 24....I think I'm the only one that has to lose 60 pounds to lose a size.
  13. I have an ice cream addiction. I'm scared if I would eat it I'd fall off the wagon.
  14. Same here. Told my kids and parents, hubby and a group of my best girl friends before (3 of the people have been thru it so I had great support there) Now I'm working on 45 pounds off...I don't care who knows it and will proudly tell people. I tell them I have battled all of my life and I couldn't let it control me any longer. Most understand, got a few almost sympathy stares...but hey...I'm on facebook I post weight loss and inches loss and find I get some great support...although they keep posting all that fattening food . Daughters wedding next month and Going on a cruise soon. The cruise will be difficult with all that yummy food at the buffets....cocktails and icecream machine...but...I will make it thru it just fine as you will. Stay the course....Good luck.
  15. I feel you. Sometimes I think I wasn't really sleeved but hypnotised into thinking I was. I'm eating about 800 calories now and you would think the weight would be pouring off of me.
  16. Anyone else experiencing this? I'll lose 10 pounds, stall for 2 weeks. Lose 10 more and stall for 2 weeks. I have noticed though that my bust waist and hips measurements going down and clothes fitting much looser. My dad even calls me "Slim" now...but still far from it. Just curious if this is normal or if anyone else is doing this? Cindy
  17. I started reading the forums and taking notes...Dr's name, hospital or clinic, time in hospital, hotel or recovery house, the towns safety, procedure, there are so many variables, leaks, deaths....I researched for about a month, scheduled surgery for 2 weeks out and started the liquid diet right away. Before I knew it I was home and now back on real food. I did learn it's better to schedule more than 2 weeks out if you have to fly, as in 2 weeks the prices for flights gets pretty steep. I used Dr Kelly and was very pleased. I quit taking pain meds the next morning after surgery that's how well I felt. If you use Dr Kelly book directly with him!! You get the better hospital, leak test etc...and Cecy is a sweet heart.
  18. I also had US currency to pesos app that helped.
  19. I found some great little 4 oz brand new tupperware dishes with lids for a quarter each at a yard sale. Bought 10 of them and a few a little larger. hey are so perfect. I made sf egg custard and divided it up...yummy.I also found some great popsicle molds. I take almond milk, sf pudding and protein power and mix it up. First time I did choc, today I am making vanilla with blue berries. What a treat!!!
  20. Those are about 4 oz. I think that is normal, at least for me. I have a 4 oz dish and if it didn't fit I didn't eat it right after liquids. I'm a little more now depending on what it is.
  21. Wow!!! keep up the great work!!!
  22. Congratulations on 4 years clean. Best thing is to talk to your doctor. I quit taking all pain meds the next morning after my surgery. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. He will know what is best for you. Stay clean
  23. I'm not a fast loser. My dr said no more than 1200 ever.I'm at about 5-600 and I'm about 7 weeks post op. I can only consume so much...but I see my dinners getting a little larger.
  24. I quit using them a long time ago. They gave me headaches and brain fog. When I want to flavor a water, I basically really really water down a low sugar fruit juice to the point of little taste.
  25. Your boyfriend is very understanding of the process. Yes, it is embarrassimg...but he is a keeper.
