  1. Christian, please don't leave the site. If normal people go, all that is left are the wackos Congrats on your accomplishment, great job!
  2. I'm with gman, if you stay on top of eating what you should, maybe you you'll have less room for junk. I've also read it takes 3 weeks to create a new habit. Maybe make yourself avoid going by the drive thru for 3 weeks and see if that helps?
  3. Hugs to all of you. That kind of cr@p you don't need.
  4. I started weight training in January and my scale losses almost stopped. Picked up a touch in February but still half my loss rate previous to that . However, I lost 2 dress sizes in two months so it does work.

I think the OP is talking about Tajin powder that you sprinkle on fresh fruit, etc. I ate spicy food at 4 weeks with no problem. No fresh fruit until 4 months or after for me, though. Made me dump. What are planning to sprinkle the Tajin on? I love that stuff.
  6. Lyn, at 4 months I started feeling like I could eat more, too, so that's when I added in veggies and occasional fruit. Really helped. For measurements, I use ounces, cups, measuring spoons, all sorts of things. I try to match the measure to nutritional data on MFP or the label. For Protein like meats or cheese, it's usually scale ounces. For soft products (cottage cheese, yogurt, broth) I use liquid ounces. On the topic of Snacks, my nut also said no snacks. However, I told her I needed them to get in enough protein. She was worried that I was grazing all day long, which I was not. She finally relented after I kept pushing her. I still do a morning and afternoon snack and try to keep it to 100 calories per snack. Maybe you can explain to your nut why you need a snack.
  7. I tried it. Almost barfed LOL
  8. Seela, I'm sorry to see people here jumping all over your observations from the meeting. You weren't judging, just commenting on what you saw. I agree, it would have been more encouraging to see more success with people reaching and staying at goal. We all worry about gaining the weight back or not making goal. We all love to see wonderful "after" pix. I think I would have felt the same as you. Sounds like a depressing meeting.
  9. Hi y'all, Plugging along here. 20 lbs from goal. Feeling pretty good these days. Issues trying to figure out blood pressure med doses though. Keeps changing.
  10. Early out cream of wheat can be soothing. My doctor suggested it, too, but only for a few weeks right after surgery. I never ate hot cereal or mashed potatoes, I did protein shakes from the start. When you can only get down one or two tablespoons of food, I doubt those carbs will blow your eating plan. You won't necessarily want to continue that, though, since you will need to focus n protein.
  11. New Mexico has a low rate, and this is a very poor state. I think that is due to eating chiles, however.
  12. Thanks, Mandy, I appreciate your thoughts. I am so glad to hear how successful you have been. I'm not sure my son is ready to do what it takes to eat clean and exercise. He sees what I do, but I don't think he really understands how much discipline is involved. He might well decide in the future to go this route, it is always open to him.
  13. Hey Zappo, thanks for writing. I don't know that he has completely made up his mind and he may well decide to do the surgery later on. I just didn't want to push him either way, but for him to make up his own mind. He's a sedentary guy, does a lot of gaming. Best of luck to you
  14. Me, too, Revs. I feel your pain. Ugghh. Ready for it to stop falling out anytime now. The little hair that's left looks like cr@p, too.
  15. Look at you! Amazing transformation. Your hard work has paid off
  16. My insurance required a "center of excellence," so I had to travel 3 hours to my clinic. I had a choice of several doctors, so honestly I just picked the one with the first appointment, since supposedly they were all good. My doctor has been great. His goal for me is 127 lbs, or BMI of 21. I think this is totally doable, although I'm already getting the "you don't need to lose anymore" stuff from other people. I plan to get to goal and stay there Peoples' goals do seem to vary widely on this site, so it will be interesting to see other responses to this thread.
  17. So, we decided to hold off. Had a heart to heart with my son and I told him I thought he was too young and he should really try on his own first before making such a drastic decision. He readily agreed with some degree of relief, I think. We'll see how it goes.
  18. Moon, I answered that I was cutting back on carbs and doing exercise, which is all true. Give them a bone like, "bread will really do it to you, I am so addicted to bread" they will start going on about how addicted they are to bread, etc. etc. etc. and you don't have to say another thing lol. They will do all the talking for you
  19. New sleevers often ask about drinking and the sleeve. Here is why it's a bad idea. Last night went out for a drink with a friend. Ordered a decaf coffee with a shot of Jack Daniels. Was doing OK sipping it. After I was done I asked for a coffee refill. Instead the waitress brought another coffee and JD. I should have sent it back but I didn't. Shortly afterwards an Indian woman from the rez is making rounds in the bar with Indian jewelry for sale. For those of you not in New Mexico, this is fairly common. Anyway, I bought some earrings for $40 that I had no intention or business buying. Ok, they are gorgeous (sterling hoops inlaid with opals) but my shopping self control was shot with the second drink. Don't sleeve and drink! (Unless you can afford it).
