    Hi there
i had sleeve. No previous GERD before, but had long term issues after , so converted to bypass. So two surgeries instead of one.
I have seen online advice not to have sleeve if you already have GERD, but never info that sleeve can cause serious GERD. I used to wake up in night with acid filling my nose and throat. Really horrid and not good Healthwise
before First surgery I had no gallstones. 4 years later, had to have gall bladder out with the most ridiculous number of stones largely because of the fast weight loss
but no life threatening issues . I think like a lot of things, statistics are based on historic info. In reality, surgery is constantly improving as surgeons gain experience. Check your surgeons record is my best advice

    Hi there
i had this; the hospital ran me through a ct scanner as could be some unpleasant things so if it persists I would recommend going to hospital
in my case the ct scan showed nothing but that didn’t help the pain which persisted from week 2 to week 6
saw my surgeon yesterday and he explained that it was because they tightly stitch the muscle to prevent hernia. As the muscle heals, the stitches may pull.
In my case the pain lasted to week 6 . Then I moved awkwardly and tore the stitches. Lots of pain like being stabbed but surgeon not too worried as he said at 6 weeks hernia unlikely
hopefully it’s nothing serious for you too
but it’s wretched, the pain was dreadful
    you have my sympathy

UKHEIDI got a reaction from I AM NOT MY SIZE in Alcoholic Beverages
    Hi there
Started drinking 10 months after which immediately slowed my weight loss because of calories plus alcohol came with less control over chips and the like
then discovered I was using it as a substitute soother for food - so felt needed to stop
i found the effect of the alcohol very variable post sleeve. Sometimes I‘d have a single glass of wine and be absolutely drunk, other times several glasses with no apparent effect
best to leave for odd sip for family toasts and the like in my experience

    Hi there
    no, not experiencing same issues.
    but feel for you
We go into this with such hope and it’s frustrating when something causes ones health to deteriorate as a direct result of the elective surgery we had to lead us to a better future
in my case, i had problems with my sleeve so had to have a second surgery to convert to a bypass on 23 rd Jan
Hope they can get your issues addressed quickly and you get back on the path to health
    best

    I would appreciate some feedback.
I had a gastric sleeve three years ago and reduced my excess weight by about 50%. My weight has been stable but a little higher than I hoped for two years.
However, because of the speed of the loss I now have gallstones and after a few episodes , I need to have my gallbladder removed.
My surgeon is adamant that I should have a conversion at the same time as I now have substantial problems with Gerd ( acid reflux) .
Before the initial surgery, I did not have this problem. The tablets at high dose and long term are regarded as unhealthy esp. given the family history of dementia.
My nutritionist is adamant that the change of procedure will not change how I eat since I am already very careful and disciplined

What are others experience of conversion please?
I have read online that conversion "solves" Gerd . What is the real life experience of others?
My surgeon is adamant that all dumping is because people eat wrong but my nutritionist says some people "just react that way". What is the experience of others please?
Because of the immediate need for the gall bladder surgery I have been given very little time to decide since they want to reduce anaesthetic and do the two together soonest.
Thanks for any advice/ practical experience.

9 months on and at the end of a full day at work, I am still exhausted.
my solution- focus on working out hard at weekends/holidays and be gentler on myself
    (walking etc.) during week.

    Hi
It was being older that frightened me to do it..
Looking at my mother who cannot walk (knees), has dementia and is blind(both because of strokes),
made me certain I did not want that in my future.
Before I hit menopause, I always fooled myself that the answer was just (another) diet away but
after menopause even on the strictest diet I only lost a pound a month and put it back on my first business trip.
So no, you are not too old to change your future..

    Hi
9 months out, I feel hunger occasionally but it is a polite sensation which,
if it is not convenient, I can ignore. An hour later, I will get a slightly stronger sensation.
Even though I used to eat low GI foods to avoid energy swings, I used to be ravenous , headachy, and tense about 2-3 hours after eating and was desperate to get to food - anything.
From talking to (thin) friends, I understand that the polite "empty" which I now feel is more
like the "normal" sensations that they have always experienced.

I recently bought a pair of pants at Macy's on the clearance rack for $16. They were a size 20. According to the website for the brand (Jones New York) the measurements for the waist is 40 inches. My waist is not 40 inches yet, It is above that. Yet, when I tried the pants on they fit just fine, are actually a bit loose. So the sizing is off. You really need to go to a store and try things on. It's a pain butt, you have to do it. I like to hit places like Ross or TJ Maxx (not sure if you have them overseas, but I am sure there is some kind of discount shop like that somewhere). Better to get a pair of pants for super cheap than to buy something nice you are only going to slide out of in a few weeks.
Also, here in the US we love to vanity size the crap out of things. J Crew and New York & Company size generously and are a bit notorious for it. I have a friend who is a size 6 and has always been a 6. She went in there and tried on a 6 and was swimming in those pants. She said to me, I am absolutely not a size 4. But apparently people want vanity sizes. Which is why someone had to create a 00/XXS

Ok, this can probably be researched somewhere on the Internet, but I'll try to explain it the way it was explained to me a few years ago. Clothing manufactures, started making clothing bigger, but leaving the same size on the label. Example, that W16 is really a W18. Apparently this is being done to get us to feel better about ourselves and of course shop more. I have been the same weight for 27 years. Over the last few years I went from wearing a size W20 to W18 and many W16. What the hell? But if I buy designer clothing, I'm right back in a W20.

The W is made to give u more rm around hips an waist. .I know. I have just hit the regular 18 ..I was wearing the 22/24 w...an yrs ago in my teens. .I would b 109 lbs an the smallest size in pants I ever wore was a 9..could not squeeze into anything any smaller. I don't understand how the ones in the 180 range getting in these low dbl an single sizes either..blows me away!

For once I am happy that I wear scrubs to work. Doesn't matter if they are a little baggy and they can be taken in easily. I go back to work tomorrow and my scrubs were baggy before I left for surgery. I should have tried them on an altered them before I went back but just didn't have the energy. But maybe next week. Lol. If I get some energy back. At home I just wear leggings or Yoga pants I don't have anywhere special to go and I can get them for 10.00. So that is my plan until I reach goal or go on vacation in December then I will buy me some new clothes?

@ Miss Mac, clothing sizes have evolved with times. A 6 from today is not the same as a 6 from the 80s, which was accurate. People in general are just bigger and the industry knows it and accomodates for it. To the OP, maybe just get some cute stretchy dresses. Something that can be dressed up with jewely and accessories to make it look more professional for work. Stretchy stuff would work great, but you may need to wear a shaper like Spanx or something. I would avoid trousers. Hanging crotches are not cute!! Lol!!
Btw, congratulations on having lost enough weight to have a hanging crotch in pants!! That is great!

Sizes have indeed changed drastically when it comes to women's clothing. It seems each store, designer, outlet etc, has it's own sizing chart. Then add to that (at least in the U.S) they also have Women's sizes meaning there is a size 16 and also a size 16W, which according to an associate at one store I was in the equivalent to a size 16w is a size 14, really, so why have the W? I see so many outfits on line but truly hesitate to order anything due to the nature of the drastic differences among stores / retailer's sizing, and I hate returning things via mail, ugh. We ladies really need a set size standard.

One of the guys I worked with talked about a new "muffin" recipe using instant oatmeal.
Beat 1 egg add 1 package oatmeal to the egg and stir. Add any fruit you like. Nuke 1 minute 15 seconds.
I don't buy instant oatmeal. I do have some organic quick cooking oatmeal and played with this recipe and come up with something I think works well and is rather tasty, low sugar and few carbs.
    2 Tablespoons dry oatmeal
    2 ounces milk
1 egg, beaten (because it's a bad egg and deserves the beating)
    Spices
Any sweetener you choose (2 Tablespoons Xylitol)
Any fruit (If you want fruit) I chose dried blueberries....because I had them and they are unsweetened.
Beat the egg, add spices and sweetener. Mix well. Add the oatmeal and fruit. Yes, mix again.
You can do this in a cup or bowl.
I then nuke about 2 minutes. The length of time is up to you, yet I suggest at least a minute.
Total calories, not counting the fruit..........208 total carbs, not counting the fruit 9.75 9 grams of fat total Protein 9
It filled a void and was quite tasty.
You could use almond or soy milk and I imagine you could add Protein powder to it for more protein.
I am still experimenting.........perhaps I will play with apple sauce. Just so many choices. Hmmmmmmmm perhaps a bacon with maple flavoring. That would definitely taste like Breakfast of old.

I would say somewhere in the middle. With trainer # 1 you felt like it was a torture. Not something one can continue for long. I have had a trainer like that in the past and ended up leaving halfway through the pre-paid sessions.
Trainer 2 seems to be overly cautious but if you enjoy working with her then talk to her and tell her that you want to be pushed a little harder. You may just find a happy medium. Write diwn what weight you use in a session and ask her if you can go higher in thenext session.
In my experience, the hard core trainers like the first one dont like toning things down. Hope this helps.
