because I feel some responsibility to her, like I did when she was a child.
You know what Ree. it is sad when a person does not grow up. You did the best for her to help your mom. she wants a pity party for herself and hand outs....Too bad! She needs to get it together. who knows when that will be. But you are wasting valuable energy worrying about this...If it is like egg shells then don't waste your time walking on them...might as well say what you think!
A friend of mine always says " might as well be hung as a sheep then a lamb." Really no difference if the outcome is the same.....
Time she got a wake up call from her big sister!!!!!!!!!

Ree, I know your grandma may feel hurt - but she might also be a little relieved to not have the stress of your sister's troubles. And that's OK!
It also sounds like your sister is still quite young (20?) and believe it or not, her brain is still growing! She's flinging herself into theatrical dramatics and that's just her thing .... You can choose to not buy a ticket to the show!
She will learn ... Or she won't... But definitely don't take on your grandma's emotions too! Your grandma is a grown-up girl and can handle her own emotions. Plus she's been around long enough maybe she saw a few other family members go through phases like this.
Enjoy your life in her absence, welcome her back when she comes back, enjoy your life in her presence.... Teach your daughter that sometimes it's better to love someone from a distance.
*hugs* sooner or later, people will stop begging her to be in their lives, and she'll have to face the fact that it's her, not them.

She is who she is. this is not off topic because it is affecting you and your progress. While we love those in our lives we reach a point that we are no longer going to take this kind of abuse anymore. This girl needs help not you. Somewhere a long the lines she has felt that she comes first in all things.
You really need to not give her that power anymore and ride it out. Everyone has that kind of person somewhere in their lives...My mother a few weeks ago decided that it was no longer a good idea for me to ever call her again. she did this because of a minor choice I made and she took it as personal...Fine...I am done. I have reached my limit of abuse. I know that she is incapable of love and so there fore I expect nothing from her..
You will have to come to grips with the same conclusion. And realize that love has nothing to do with this. It is not you or her grandmother this is her. She must change and you must keep going...
Your weight loss will stall if you don't eat...please look after yourself no matter how painful this is....The grandmother needs your love...Since you have some time to spare now...Give her the extra time and attention and work to figure out how to deal with this....Don't expect her to see it your way.....You have to live around it or plow right through it......

I felt the exact same way when I was waiting to be sleeved and having to see a NUT every month. But when I put it all into perspective I understand why they have you wait. They want to see if you can follow instructions because after you are sleeved there are some very specific instructions/rules that need to be followed for your own safety. Hang in there, I know its tough. You'll get through this and on to the next stage (hopefully being sleeved) you'll go.

Same here. Gain a pound or stay the same. SO frustrating to feel like you lose a whole week every month!

I always hear people refer to themselves or others as a fast loser or a slow loser. What do you consider to be a fast loser, slow loser and an average loser? Lets say from about 3 months out from post op.
I am only 2 months post op but I had considered myself an average loser, my numbers are in my signature.

I can't quantify these numbers for you, but I will suggest an app that I use daily. It's call"Get-2-Goal" in the iPhone App Store. It is very simple weight loss tracker that plots out your weight loss according to your surgery date and puts it on a graph that show Above average , Average or Keep working. The also have a progress table for expected WL @ 6, 12 24 months.
I have used this tool for 5 months and I consistently fall slightly above the average line, for example , at 5 months I weigh 176. The "average" weight at 6 months based on my stats is 172 and @12 months is 150.
This app is free and really helps me track my progress. It also showed me that as of today I am 72% towards my goal weight . It gives me a nice little affirmation.

You took a page out of my book.
My starting BMI was higher than yours. I started at 275 but I am only 5ft tall. I had (still have) a lot of weight to lose. The reason I decided to go with the sleeve is because for some reason the thought of gastric bypass scared the hell out of me. Plus I still wanted to have the option of having something sweet every now and then, without the worry of the dumping syndrome.
I also have asthma so I know what that's like too and I also want to lose weight quickly but I'm really happy with my progress so far and I know this type of thing can not be rushed because after all we didn't put the weight on overnight so naturally it's not going to come off overnight either.
Ultimately you have to make the best decision for YOU. I know if I had to do it all over again, right now, I would still pick the gastric sleeve over the gastric bypass. Good luck with whichever one you decide on.

No disrespect but dude sounds like a tool! His comments are very demeaning. Kick his ass to the curb. You need a partner who lifts you up not breaks you down... he isn't supportive... he sounds very insecure and when you 'lose the weight' it will get worse. My two cents for what it's worth. P.S You ARE the shit. Don't let any man convince you otherwise.

I cant find the recipes/food forum on here anymore but I wanted to share a new product I bought at Walmart that I think tastes awesome!
It's called perky Jerky (made with turkey, not beef) and it has no nitrates, preservatives or MSG added.
This stuff tastes so good and here are the nutrition facts:
100 calories for the whole 2 ounce bag
    0g fat
    sodium: 220mg
    carbohydrate: 4g
    sugar: 4g
    protein: 18g
You can buy them in 1 or 2 ounce bags if you order them online, like at Amazon. In walmart they cost $3.92 for a 2.2 ounce bag.
I would not have known this was turkey and not beef if I didn't look at the bag of the package. I can't tell the difference.

I wasn't able to go on my own until I was 6 weeks out and even then it wasn't much at all. 1-2x a week I drink a tea called Smooth Move and that helps move things along. It's a great tasting tea too and helps me to get in my fluids as well.
Currently I "go" once or twice a week and the tea helps a lot with that. I am 2 months out from surgery.

BMI at starting weight: 53.7, now it's currently 43.7 at almost 2 months out from surgery.

I decided not to tell anyone either, only my husband knows. Almost 3 weeks after surgery I was visiting family and my sister who is 23 years old acts childish sometimes and while I was visiting she proceeded to jump on me and I had to hurry and cover my stomach and told her not to do that. She looked at me weird and then said "what? are you pregnant or something"? Yeah ok, we'll go with that, I'm pregnant so don't jump on me. LOL!

I swear, I feel like my husband is trying to sabotage me or something. I told him 2 days ago "whatever you do, don't get me chocolates. I can't have any. Don't forget". So what does he do? today he got me chocolates. I said "gee thanks but I can't eat them" and his response was "oh I forgot". Well that's why I reminded you just 2 days ago! UGH!! I have been with him since I was 15 years old (for 15 years now) and in the past he has always tried to sabotage my weight loss efforts. I don't give in to it or him anymore though. I get upset with him. I find myself yelling at him a lot now because it pisses me off that he does this to me. He'll say "you know what sounds good? McDonalds chicken nuggets" and I'll scream at him "YOU KNOW I CAN'T EAT THAT CRAP ANYMORE SO WHY DO YOU EVEN BRING IT UP"?? and he'll act like he forgot that I cant eat that stuff. Um hello I had the surgery 2 months ago, have you not seen what I have been eating in the last two months and how small my portions are? I really don't think he is forgetting. I feel like he does it on purpose and it pisses me off!
In other news, I went out and bought a pair of jeans that are way too small with the hopes that in the near future I'll get to wear them. I hope this helps to motivate me to stay on the straight and narrow.

226 today. I was hoping to be 225 which would put me at exactly 50 pounds lost total. But maybe some time this week i'll reach that goal.
Congratulations to everyone who reached their weight loss challenge goal. I think for the St. Patrick's day challenge I'll be more realistic about my goal.

Are you sure it was the sleeve she got? I was watching inside edition today and they mentioned she had weight loss surgery but never specified which weight loss surgery she went with.
Is getting weight loss surgery going to be the new "cool" thing to do now among celebrities? even those celebrities that really don't need weight loss surgery, because you know they'll still find a surgeon to do the surgery if they really wanted it done. Money talks and bullshit walks.
