Ree reacted to Teachamy in MEEEE Time! What is your "Me Time" ?
My me time used to be food, food, and more food. I enjoyed eating without my 6 and 8 yr. olds trying to get some of my favorite treats. Now I still enjoy vegging out in front of bad TV, or sleeping, or getting my nails done during my me time. (I am a mom of little ones, what can I say?) I used to be a gym rat, so I am attempting to build up my stamina once again by doing 20-30 minutes on my elliptical every day. Soon I will start swinging my kettlebell around again, and add my strength exercises. I will have to book my trainer for a couple of sessions too. That will feel good!

Pre-surgery, my "Me Time" would be when my husband and son would leave the house for a baseball practice or something and I would be all by myself...that's when I would eat. I would eat food and sit in front of the TV. Horribly destructive behavior that I really didn't identify until after I had surgery.
Now, my "Me Time" is at the gym or, if the weather cooperates, a nice long walk with the hubs and the dog. When at the gym, I put the earbuds in a rock out. On walks with the hubs, we talk - really talk to each other.

I decided not to tell anyone either, only my husband knows. Almost 3 weeks after surgery I was visiting family and my sister who is 23 years old acts childish sometimes and while I was visiting she proceeded to jump on me and I had to hurry and cover my stomach and told her not to do that. She looked at me weird and then said "what? are you pregnant or something"? Yeah ok, we'll go with that, I'm pregnant so don't jump on me. LOL!

My numbers are in my siggy but basically my surgery weight was 262 and I lost 24 pounds the first month. I am 3 weeks into my 2nd month and so far have lost 11 pounds (could be more, I haven't weighed myself this week yet and I have another week to go before I know what my total weight loss is for the 2nd month).

Trail riding on my mountain bike is my favorite me time thing to do! I had not owned a bike in over 10 years but after losing the weight I decided I needed something for me to do with this energy!

Mmmm.....good question. I try to have a lot of "me" time, lol. I made 2013 the year of me, and I liked it so much, I've rolled it over into 2014! I really like it. I shop. I rest. I read. I work. My youngest is a high school senior, so for the first time in 25 years, I'm starting to feel like I have some time for myself. Tonight I think I'll take a zumba class - it will be my first one. It's pretty liberating to have so much freedom I'm also joining the gym at work. Not sure how that's going to go - not so much me time there, lol. I'm hoping to go on my lunch hour and fit in something, since I've been lazy lately.

just started my exercise program... Have been introduced to the bridge and plank and 2 lb and 3 lb weights. I now have a mat and a exercise ball. Friday I get a medicine ball and some bean bags....
This is all new to me. I hired a trainer and he is working on building me up from the core as I was in a coma and lost all muscle mass....
Not liking it at all..i sweat and I am sore...But I guess it is me tome in exercise...sure hopw I learn to adjust and like it even a bit!

We gotta get more celebrities sleeved. Remember nose jobs? hair transplants? Face lifts? Expensive orthodontics? They became status symbols because the "beautiful people" did them.
Maybe someday we can flaunt our scars and be "cool".
I do it already because I am my own fan club.

Ree got a reaction from scarlet333 in Biggest Loser Finale
On day one when the show started I picked Rachel out of all the contestants to win The Biggest Loser this season. I just saw something in her and I knew she would be a fighter. Yes my jaw dropped when I saw her walk out on stage and yes I do think she got very thin. With that said however, I do believe that she was so focused and driven on winning the game aspect of the show that she didn't even take into consideration that she might not be in a healthy BMI range. I also think the athlete/competitor in her took over, she knew she was going to go up against guys that weighed more than her and could afford to lose more weight and could easily lose at least 50% of their body weight (which they did) so she probably felt she needed to fight that much harder to lose even more weight in order to win the game. I think sometimes it's harder to win a game like this when you don't have as much weight to lose as some of the other contestants on the show. She was already within 5 pounds of an ideal weight for her height when she left the show but it's clear she didn't feel that would have been enough to beat the boys in the finale.
The looks on the trainers faces said it all. I'm sure they took her aside after the show and talked to her about.

I'd encourage you to speak with your surgeon and ask her/him what her opinion is. It's important you get this cleared up so you're truly comfortable that your doing all the right things, or understand where the nut is coming from.
You will feel light headed if you've been in a hot bath/spa and get up if you are dehydrated, or if your blood pressure is low...

Oh..I've had run ins with one of the nuts in my group. Last time I was there, was for my 3 month check up.
She told me to stop eating greek yogurt and beef Jerky..and to go back to the shakes abd skim milk. When its noted that I'm lactose intolerant and don't want to take the pills for it.
Then she told me not to trust myfitnesspal and their database. Even after I told her I don't eat it unless I can check the stats beforehand.
All of this and at that point, I had lost a staggering 38% of my excess starting weight..at 3 months. I was doing well and getting most Protein from real food.
Needless to say I called my nurse and informed her what was communicated to me. That was taking several giant steps back words and I wasn't having it. I told her that I would continue on with what she had approved already and follow what my book said. She agreed.
Then I asked the front desk to note in my file that I will not see that particular lady.

Always follow your surgeons plan. Tell the NUT to F- off.
Sorry, can you tell I'm not a fan of NUTs??
Increasing my B12 (surgeons recommendations) helped with that lightheaded feeling after surgery.

You saw your NUT at 1 week post op and again at 7 weeks post op, and between those visits you lost 20 lbs, right? Well, 20 lbs in 6 weeks sounds GREAT from what I've read on this forum! I didn't lose that quickly, but I would have been thrilled if I had! My understanding is that people with a higher BMI tend to lose more quickly.
As long as you feel well - lots of energy, etc. - and you're following the plan, just keep on keepin' on! The pounds do drop more slowly as time goes on, so make the most of this rapid loss period.

R u logging what u r eating. I use myfitnesspal. If u r, u can show your nut or doc what u typically est.. Since I have been logging what I eat., I know I am getting enough Protein and calories.. I am 8 weeks out and my target protein is 65-70 grams and 800 calories. Don't let the nut get u upset if u r following the food protocol.

The nutritionist and the surgeon have much different views. If you're concerned, called your surgeon. If the nutritionist is part of the surgeon's practice, then I would definitely call the surgeon and let him/her know what the NUT said. It sounds like, from what you've said, you're doing what you're supposed to be doing. Just keep up the good work!
