Rozz76 reacted to mamachef in 8 months post op...wanting baby but scared emotionally
The first thing my surgeon said to me when I told him I was pregnant was not to even step on a scale if it was going to bother me... He said as long as tou stick to the maintaining diet and only add 300 calories per day (thats all the bean needs) I would be fine... I am 3 months pregnant and have still lost weight because I was super sick. It is an emotional roller coaster but you will be ok... the weight will come off like it did before it isnt like pregnancy can reverse surgery... you will still have the same tool after the baby is born and it will be much easier to lose any weight you can gain. As long as you dont see pregnancy as an opportunity to do whatever and eat whatever, you will be GOLDEN!!!

Body Fortress chocolate was really good and very inexpensive! It taste just like chocolate milk. It wasn't gritty or too thick. It is 8 grams Total Carbs and 26 grams of protein.I tried Premier and it was disgusting.

Wow. The negativity from some of the users on here is just plain ugly. Some haven't reached the point of struggle and some forget what it felt like. To the person who wrote Just don't eat ****? You dont belong on here. This is a friendly and helpful community. You took the time out of your day to make someone else feel bad for expressing their concerns for their struggle. Shame on you. Life is hard enough without negative people dragging us down. To the poster of the thread, I am only a week out so I have very little advice on the topic, but what I can tell you is hold your head up high and don't let these fools bring you down. We need to stand together...not tear each other apart.

Rozz76 reacted to SDH in Whos in September? We need some September buddies!
I was sleeved on the 11th, I know this is going to be one of the best things that I have ever done for myself but d@m, it was definitely no walk in the park! I came home yesterday afternoon and the pain was terrible, thank God for pain meds, my husband, and knowing that I needed to get up and walk. Thanks to all of the valuable information that I have read in the forums on this site I knew pretty much what to expect and what to do, if I hadn't learned all that I've learned here I would have probably lost it yesterday. Today I am better, still have some pain but I am able to walk 'laps' in the house(slowly), sipping my Water with Protein Powder in it, and I had a little creamed and thinned Soup (a very little!). Looking forward to the future...the way I see it isn't "no pain no gain"...it's 'NO PAIN NO LOSS'!!! Good luck everyone

For everyone who has slipped on their diet - I got this from a WW leader and it has really helped me -
"Lapses become failures only when they successfully intimidate you into stopping your weight reduction program. Those who are ultimately most successful in sustaining weight loss learn from their lapses instead of being intimidated by them. The best thing to do when lapses occur is to go to sleep that night and wake up the next day recommitted to following your weight loss program. "

Rozz76 reacted to SDH in Smoking!?
The first seminar we went to my surgeon told all of us that if we smoked we wouldn't get the surgery. We were told that we would be tested even up to the day of our surgery. That was February...I quit the first week of March and with the help of Chantix I am officially a non-smoker for almost 7 months now!!! I made up my mind that I want this surgery more than I want to smoke and for the first time after MANY times of trying to quit I have succeeded. My surgery is in 2 days and I am ready for my nicotine test, I've already been tested twice since April and have passed them both! YAY! Good luck!

I've told a couple of people at work about the surgery, just the ones I'm close to and have already trusted with other personal information so I know I can trust them to keep it to themselves. As far as my manager is concerned, I'm having my gallbladder removed (which is also happening) and I don't feel the need to tell him anything different.

Something to remember...you don't HAVE to tell your boss. Technically, federal HIPAA laws protect you from having to tell your boss about the nature of your medical record. Is there any way you can miss the education class instead?
I'm one that's been open with everyone - from Facebook to co-workers to friends. People will either support me and my choices or not...either way, I don't let their reaction influence my happiness.

I am September 16th also. I only need to do clear liquids the day before surgery, I was expecting 2 weeks as well. I find it hard not to have a "last meal" type of mindset. It's not like I'm never going to eat again, but the fact that I can't have XYZ again, or shouldn't have it again is a little daunting. I wish Sept would hurry up and get here so I can get the surgery over with

I have told two people I work with that I have to have surgery "you know female issues". can we say blabber mouths and gossip I just don't feel like explaining. Or hearing anyone else tell me I could do this on my own if I had will power. This is not my first rodeo, or diet.

I started my liquid diet yesterday. I have two weeks on it. Yesterday was hard everything seems to center around food! Today I am just not hungry. Did my shake for Breakfast and lunch not due to hunger but rather due to assuming even if I am not hungry I still need the Protein intake. I am hoping this continues up til September 5th when I have surgery! So excited to be on this journey for a healthier mother for my children!

Rozz76 reacted to jbear in how long does it take to get everything done and approved for the Gastric sleeve
I spent at least 2 months doing research, I was adamant on having the lap band done. After learning about the sleeve, I was drawn to it, and then I was against being banded due to many complications that I’ve read others have gone through.
    Here is my journey:
July 8 – Met with surgeon for the first time
July 10 – Had upper GI
July 18 – Met with dietician
July 22 – Scheduled surgery for September 12
July 25 – Received a phone call saying that insurance has approved surgery
July 20 – Received insurance confirmation in mail
August 21 – Will have a 2-hour class with other soon-to-be-sleevers, to review pre-op liquid diet, what to expect while in the hospital, etc
1st week in September - Will have a pre-op pysical, do blood work, etc
    September 12 - Surgery date!

A few of you might remember that I posted a week or so ago about feeling very sick. I was 3 weeks out of surgery when it started. I told you how I was weak and shaky, my heart rate was getting erratic and my BP too low. My BP since then has intermittently gone too high then back to too low. I was having to use an electronic shopping cart due to weakness. I was feeling worse daily and getting scared. Depression and anger started creeping in on me. I wasn't able to exercise and my weight loss was very slow compared to others. The main suggestions here were up-ing Protein and Water but I was already getting enough and I knew it. I got in to see my primary doc Monday and he ordered labs. Yesterday my doc called and told me the reason for my problem. My potassium was too low. He started me on a RX to get it up and will followup with new labs in a week. I'm hopeful that will do the trick.
Potassium was not on my radar at all. I was so worried about protein and water and taking my Vitamins and other supplements i just didn't think of it. I guess I thought I wold be getting it from something I was eating or drinking.
Many years ago my SIL became ill at home and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. She coded in the ER and was resuscitated but soon coded again and died. It was due to low potassium. I should have thought of it but I didn't.
Labs is not something my surgeon ever mentioned to me having done. I think all post-ops should do them though and I plan to do it on a regular basis, at least for a while until I know everything is staying in a healthy range.

Haven't won yet, 10 lbs to normal bmi then maintenance forever, but had a major victory this week.
The straw that broke the camels back for me to have surgery was being at an amusement park with the kids last year. Got on a ride and buckle wouldn't fit across all of us. Had to get the kids off, but I was kind if stuck in so couldn't tie up ride longer ad had to ride alone while the kids watched.
Went back to park this week and 94 lbs and almost 10 months later ---no problem!
Best thing I've ever done for myself by far!
