I haven't managed to find any other gold coasters on the forum I also was having doubts last week however than went and spoke about it yet again to my GP and he can't speak highly enough about it.. I really haven't been able to find anything really negative about the sleeve at all...
I'm so happy that you are going to go and see Dr Nolan, he truly is a wonderful surgeon and he explains everything very clearly and very well.
Be warned though be is very straight to to the point and matter of fact, some people may perceive this as arrogant but he by no means is, when my hubby and I visited him for the first time, I must admit I was a little frightened of him (you'll see what I mean ). I had absolutely no problems with him taking my band out, the surgery went great no complications what so ever.. I am extremely happy that i am being looked after by dr Nolan, i'm sure that you will be also My sleeve surgery is 52 more days away (who's counting).

Hello, I'm quite new to this site, but thought that I'd try and find some Gold Coast girls/guys who have been sleeved or who are getting sleeved. I Would love to try and organise some group get togethers so we can support each other and share ideas. I get sleeved July 2nd by Dr Nolan at Southport. Yay how exciting Jessica, we'll be sleeved around the same time frame.. We'll be on our journey to skinny ness together ha ha..... I'm sure that somewhere underneath all this fat there's a size 12 body hiding somewhere.... Deep deep down !!!

Hi there lilyrose. I am at Ormeau and was sleeved last Saturday after having my band removed in April. My original date was 9th July but I just couldn't handle the wait and weight xo asked to have it bought forward. My surgery was in Sunnybank Hospital - so not a coast Doctor but I am really happy with my choice of surgeon too. I had a bit of a rough first 2 days as my stomach was extremely sensitive which can happen particularly to is ex-bandsters. I am starting to feel much better now thankfully. Would be happy to kep in touch if you like seeing we are pretty close in dates :-)

I also am so ready for this operation. I have done so much research on it and I just wish that July 2nd would come sooner... Like your mum I also had a Lap band which was not successful at all, I actually gained more weight with the lap band, (my fault though probably not the lap bands)..
I had my lap band out last friday. I was hoping to be able to be sleeved within the same operation however my surgeon refused to do that stating that it's much safer to wait for 12 weeks between surgeries. I'm really happy with my surgeon so am very content with his decision, he knows best..... even though I'm hanging to have it done.
I'm so excited by the prospect that by the end of the year I will be a lot slimmer. Next year is going to be a whole new year for me. I wan't to stop just existing and actually start living...
Who knows I may even be back at the beach in a pair of bathers by next summer.

Just got my date today. July 16th. Im band revision and my worst nightmare is ill wake up in recovery to be told my stomach was too damaged from my herniated band to do the sleeve at the same time. Can't afford 2 surgeries and since my bmi is only 28, my insurance wont pay for a 2nd surgery. So Im praying ill wake up without a band and sleeved...
Getting it done in Coos Bay, Or.

My date is currently the 24th, and I planned it that way so I could enjoy the 4th and my birthday on the 16th before I have to start the one week diet for real.
Of course, the best laid plans... I may have to try and move to an earlier date - I may be changing jobs in mid to late July and if so I would want to get this done before starting. Hopefully I'll have an answer this week.

WOW there is a lot of sleeve sisters out there getting sleeved the 1st!! Add me and keep me posted on your journeys.... I started my liquid diet today... (for the 2nd time) I have a really restricted diet Clear Liquids and 6 Protein Shakes a day, but feeling good.

Yay guys, we don't have much longer to go now... liquid diet has commenced and now on the downward slide... I'm so excited for all of us, here's to a healthier skinnier life to us all... Love Lily xx

Hi Brendan, I understand what you say about the permanent nature of the sleeve. That also played with my head before making the decision to go ahead with it.
When I had my lap band I spoke to quite a few people who had the sleeve and lapband. I actually wanted the sleeve to begin with however was talked out of it as my bmi at that stage was not high enough. When my lap band was taken out I was advised by the surgeon that it had been placed in there incorrectly, I had it in there for a year which has caused some issues. So many surgeons are no longer doing lap band surgery because of complications.I also felt oh I should be able to do it myself, i mean seriously, its only losing weight, not brain surgery....but after years of yo yo dieting, know this to be not true... I can't do it myself... I need the tool to help me do it... I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired and I'm sick and tired of fighting with my head on a daily basis and I'm sick of tired of always having to think about what diet plan I'm going to try next..... I have done so much research and spoken to so many people and know that I am making the right decision for me
I read about a lady who has a sleeve and she said that the sleeve is just a little tool to remind you to eat less, it's not a diet that you can go off... I can eat whatever I want , I never have to worry about diets, a huge weight has been lifted of my shoulders and when i read that i felt wow that's how I want to feel.
I'd probably suggest that you ring where you went to see the surgeon and ask of you can speak to some of there patients, as to support groups I don't know of any on the GC, yeah speaking to a guy would be really good as you guys are a lot more logical then us emotional women ha ha.. Anyway I really wish you the very very best of luck and whatever decision you make will be the right one for you... Just follow your heart. I can't seem to concentrate on anything else but this surgery at the moment, so excited, there seems like there is finally some light at the end of a very dark long tunnel.. Dr Nolan is definitely blunt and to the point -but wouldn't you rather hear it exactly how it's is? He's a great surgeon and takes a lot of care. He performed my surgery and I'm very happy with the result, 24 kgs so far. I'd definitely trust Dr Nolan to look after you well.

I totally agree, I told my hubby just the other day that he now needs to start saving up for my plastic surgery. I gave him a list of what I would like done.. I think that he nearly had a heart attack... mmmm, I also might have more luck getting it done if I win the lotto lol

Definitely. When your surgery?? Mine is July 3rd. Just 4 weeks and 5 days but who's counting? ? lol
