Dr won't do the lapband to sleeve revision because lapband is eroded
no erosion here. I also had very minimal adhesions. I had an unfill about a month before my revision to let my tummy relax from any irritation as well.

Complications ?
I had lapband to sleeve revision and sorry to rain on your parade, but I am complication free. I have had NO problems and only wish I had done this last year. getting sleeved was one of the best things I could have ever done. EVER.

For those who had band to sleeve in one surgery..
I voluntarily unfilled my band 4 weeks before my revision. When Dr Garcia got in there, he said everything looked great and there was NO irritation (which is what I did it for...NO irritation) I was then sleeved right after he removed it

Stomach leak
Leaks can happen for MANY reasons. some leaks happen because people do not follow the rules and some leaks happen by sheer accident. I think alot of the leak issues are dependent on the quality of the doctor as well. How well the doctor stitched the bougie, checking for leaks after removal of the stomach, etc.

Where did you have surgery and who is your surgeon?

Recovery: C-section vs sleeve
1 natural 2 c-sections I would say that for me, the sleeve was more uncomfortable. I would not say painful as I am a low BMI, so I really did not have alot of belly fat to fight with like some do. Even with that said, I have felt much more tired with the sleeve surgery. I am three weeks out and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to take me a nap midday, so I do...no baby to stop me. I have taken care of myself better than I did with the C-sections (obviously).

HELP! Why am I so itchy?
BTW...Costco sells it for $6.99 for the case. It looks like Amazon jacks up the price to $14.00

HELP! Why am I so itchy?
In the chips section. it is typically in a small display and sometimes you have to really slow down and look back and forth from them because up here in Washington, they really go fast. But costco keeps it stocked everyday. They are wrapped in plastic as a case so you can see the package design I have attached an image http://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Roasted-Seasoned-Seaweed/dp/B00AG0GLKM

HELP! Why am I so itchy?
Ironically, I had a craving for my favorite Costco Roasted Seaweed sheets. they are little squares and taste like potato chips, but are only 100 calories for the entire container and 1 gram of fat. I had a hard time stopping eating them. I have not itched at all since having them. Nori is rich in protein and one sheet has as much fiber as a cup of raw spinach and more omega-3 fat than an avocado. Nori contains vitamin C, mega dose of B12 and compound taurine. I find them much more pleasant than popping pills. however, if you eat too much of it, your poop turns green. I have not itched in a week. So now at least I know I have another way to get my B12 in.

So angry at my 401k!
Also. I would explain to Alma and Ana what is going on. Keep them in the loop so you can keep your date
-
So angry at my 401k!
you can do a direct deposit, but you would still have to wait five business days for the transaction to be cleared.

New Zealand -> Tijuana
I am in no hurry to hit the gym either. I am not wanting a race, just nice and steady. The time will come to hit the gym hard, in the meantime I am busy enough and love my naps. I know what you mean for the every two hours thing. I don't feel "hungry", but can feel my blood sugar getting low and try to have a piece of cheese, scramble an egg or get some soup in. you are doing great!!

New Zealand -> Tijuana
I am GOOD!! I became obsessed with the scale the first two weeks, so put myself on a self-imposed timeout. I will weigh myself for the first time in a week tomorrow. I feel thinner and my face has really thinned out. I am guessing I am about another 2-5 lbs down which will put me at 20 lbs total. I took my measurements again today and am down 4 inches around my chest I have also stopped hanging out in the kitchen worrying about "SOUP"...I began buying broth at an asian place and have now switched to their homemade egg flower Soup. I have found that not obsessing with making enormous portions of SOUP it is easier for me to not nosh so much. Behaviors have definitely changed over the past three weeks. I have also felt this SURGE of energy that has come out of nowhere. I have literally been going from room to room purging things, childrens clothes, I got rid of a box of size 12 clothing (I have no interest in being a size 12 anymore!!), painting two rooms, etc. Quite the busybody. I also decided after being home and back to work for two days to take a leave of absence from work. I felt I owed it to myself to heal and my manager was being a ****...so I took care of that. I have found that I LOVE scrambled eggs even more now. First of all, I could not eat scrambled eggs with my lapband, I always threw them up, so I avoided them. Now with the lapband GONE and moving into stage three being able to eat scrambled eggs is the best thing since sliced bread. How are you doing? Stats?

Having doubts..someone talk me back UP to the ledge... :(
I had the same nagging feeling in the back of my head...that I could spend the money on paying off a credit card. However, this is my LIFE...this is my HEALTH I am a woman and by nature all I ever do is do things for others or take care of things before I take care of myself. This time I said NO...I am taking care of ME first. Good luck

Arizona Family: Mother of 7 Jailed in Mexico on Bogus Charge
you must also realize the point of entry is somewhere in Arizona/Texas - a very high drug area. I would not give this a second thought. I sure dont and I have been to TJ many times.

Are Gummy Vitamins Allowed Right After Surgery?
my doctor said NO gummies because of the sugar and how hard they are to digest

Cigarettes and surgery....
Aetna is a bunch of weasels. I decided to take a short term leave of absence and they have had me jumping through hoops having to fill out paperwork by tomorrow. US healthcare is terrible. Dr Garcia provided me all my LOA documentation while my primary care office here in the US is still fumbling around trying to be organized. Mexico had everything done in TWO DAYS.
-
Has anyone heard of Dr. Oscar Lumban in Tijuana?
Going to Mexico is not bad. In fact, the Mexican doctors have a longer successful history of sleeve surgeries than the US doctors. The issue is the MS My mother had MS and what I would be concerned about is having some type of relapse or issue after the surgery and before you are able to get back into the states. You also need to contact your insurance company and find out how this would affect your coverage. Some insurance policies will not cover you out of the country....I know specifically mine does...but it is something you need to review entirely before doing it. Good luck.

Help, Ladies! Yeast infections since surgery! OMG, TMI!
You HAVE to get some healthy bacteria into your body. Kefir is a probiotic and tastes like a yogurt smoothie Greek Yogurt is extremely high in Acidopholus and probiotic nutrients. NatureMade makes a Triple Probiotic vitamin that is new. I would look for it at a walmart or drugstore. eating yogurt only 2x per week will not help...you MUST increase your intake or supplement daily with a probiotic vitamin Probiotics are a powerful ally against yeast overgrowth. All that beneficial bacteria helps control the yeast and keeps things healthy – and this is especially true if you are taking antibiotics. Don’t wait until your round of antibiotics is over to start taking probiotics; begin right away, so that as the antibiotics are killing off all of the bacteria inside you (good and bad alike), you are replenishing the good bacteria. Many people find that they develop yeast infections during or just after taking antibiotics. Probiotics are the solution here. Probiotic capsules will work, but so will eating lots of plain yogurt or other cultured foods and drinks, such as lacto-fermented pickles and kombucha. Personally, I take a probiotic capsule everyday, and I also include cultured foods in my diet on a regular basis. 2) Cut Out the Sugar This sounds simple: sugar feeds yeast. If you have a yeast infection, cut out the sugar from your diet. I would begin this immediately and also begin googling yeast infections and read, read, read. you will find that yeast infections are LITERALLY mostly because of DIET. you need to reavaluate your diet and get it "clean"...in other words, eating a clean diet will be your best ammunition. Finally decided on Dr. Garcia at Florence hospital
As an extremely happy and satisfied patient, I will sing the praises of Dr Garcia and the entire team forever. They are caring, loving and always on top of any questions. I have voluntarily decided to take a leave of absence from my job (I have an extremely demanding job) for 2-4 months and Dr Garcia, Ana, Irene and Alma have all jumped into to provide an official letter to facilitate the process. You have NO idea how helpful this is for my primary doctor and I as we fight Aetna for my short term pay Do not be scared and if you have any questions ask those of us who had our surgeries with him. You will not be disappointed. I only wish I had done this surgery last year instead of waiting.

My experience with Dr. Garcia and team
LOL Steph...how on earth did you not have a passport? Do you know how lucky you are the guards did not ask for it? I have been to TJ at least six times in the past two years and 5/6 times I had to show my passport. You best be buying some lotto tickets sweetie.

Cigarettes and surgery....
LoneStar The other thing that I failed to mention is the SMELL...I got behind someone smoking last week and normally it would not bother me, in fact, I would sniff the residual (sounds weird)....but this time, I literally gagged...leaped 6 feet to the left to get the hell out of the drifting smoke and immediately felt NAUSEOUS. I have not been able to tolerate the SMELL of anyone smoking now. you might find that after your surgery the tar and nicotine irritate your stomach and make it impossible to smoke due to immediate illness. Just do not be surprised by anything your jellybean is capable of
