  1. I am packing LIGHT. The last thing you want to be doing is hauling a bunch of crap you didn't need back home on the airplane (sounds exhausting doesn't it?) I am bringing traveling clothes, jammies, iPad, the typical items on the list I am inserting to share (if I can get the attachment to work!!), a bathing suit and shorts to soak in the sunshine by the pool my last full day there and reading material
  2. I am traveling alone to Dr Fernando Garcia. Having been to TJ a few times, I am not scared and have met a few gals who are getting sleeved at the same time I am at Florence. Good luck to you
  3. PB2 is fantastic in a chocolate whey Protein smoothie (tastes like a Reeces PB cup) - but I cannot imagine spreading it on anything (bleck) Adams all natural is just so good without all the sugar
  4. Poodle Dog is the restaurant/bar in Fife. I think there is a sleeve support group that meets there the second or third tuesday of ever month
  5. Thank you for posting this!! I am now 10 days away from being sleeved and cannot wait to meet everyone down there. This gives me hope that I will not be fat forever.
  6. She is the reason three of us decided to not go back to him. She is cancerous to his site and the moderators continue to let her wreck havoc. very sad. I am glad you know where I am coming from now.
  7. well, I sure hope they wise up and put a muzzle on dear old Lindsey. (I am sure you know who/what I am talking about @Hoosiergirl) She does NOTHING for potential Sleeve patients but scares them off.
  8. Great information peeps! Thank you for sharing!
  9. This is what I find most disturbing. When I began researching going to the sleeve two years ago, having been a previous Ortiz patient, I went back onto the OCC Forum to learn about how patients felt. They have a "girl" (because no woman would act as hostile as this girl does) named "Lindsey" from Canada who was lapbanded by Dr Ortiz. She was on EVERY sleeve commentary on Ortiz's site...lecturing newly sleeved people, yelling at newly sleeved (and wannabe sleeved people) and overall being a huge pain in the rear end. When a few people complained to the moderators that she was OUT OF LINE as she did not have a gastric sleeve...we were all told to shove off. I just checked two months ago and "Lindsey" is STILL being a rude, pain in the rear end to the gastric sleeve people. That did it for me. I won't promote Ortiz if he cannot even put a muzzle on someone who has no business shoving her nose in gastric sleeving business. (she has a LAPBAND and is the 1% who has been successful with it)
  10. wait until you get that same opinion 6x in one week. It will get offensive and old real fast.
  11. http://wasabubblebutt.blogspot.com/2010/03/researching-mexican-or-us-sleeve.html I was meandering and found this link in an old post from 2011? Felt it would be a good idea to repost for those who are thinking of going to MX but not knowing where to start. There is some great information in here.
  12. He has alot of very zealot followers who want to draw blood for saying any truth about him. Every doctor has good and bad. I think some more than others.
  13. That is so sweet of you. I will do the same. I will probably be bored to tears after day one of being in Florence, so will fire up the iPad and put the free WiFi to work. I had one of the board friends say to me "you shouldn't be excited"...however, I am. This is a new phase and a new journey. As with starting out any new challenge, difficulties will happen (sip, sip, sip) along with the wonderful opportunities that go along with it. I look forward to slowly eliminating the 4 different sizes in my closet What are you looking forward to?
  14. yea. you and I have witnessed alot of that over the past week *SMH**
  15. It is NOONE's place to question the "why" or "need" for anyone to do a revision. It is up to the history of the patient, family history AND the doctor. It comes across as bullying, the tone of the comment sucks, it is unkind and is flat out being a busybody. Good luck to you. I am also low BMI with health issues and will post my before photos after I take them next week
  16. I am NOT a fan or Ortiz or his thug staff and moderators. He did my lapband and there is no way I would go back to him for my revision. ever. When he first began doing the revision, he was not sewing tight enough and a few patients were having to go back and get a tighter sleeve. That was two years ago, so I hope by now this would be a non-issue
  17. Oh my goodness. That could have been words out of my mouth. Well said and so very true. Good luck on your journey. I too am revising from band to sleeve on May 10th. I am SO ready.
  18. May 10th! I fly down May 9th. Are you getting excited? I would do this tomorrow if I could, I am tired of waiting to begin the journey
  19. this would be my guess as well that people go back to living their lives and don't contribute as much. my GF had her sleeve revision from last October and she is down 72 lbs and happy as a pig in poop. She eats normal food, gets full very quickly and has learned that Pasta is not her friend.
  20. I have no idea how you are not finding anyone who had their surgery in MX. there is an entire forum of people on the boards.
  21. My husband is a CPA and he is already looking into this. I will try to remember to report what I find out
  22. Be careful of the loan companies. I was "curious" what I could get. So I went through Medical financing that will go international (into mexico). I have to be honest, the terms were CRAZY. I have decent credit and if I finance $4,700, I can do one of two things. 1. Pay $695 up front, I finance $5,800 same as cash at 19.9% for 12 months (now mind you, they just made $1,100 if I don't pay immediately) 2. 6 months same as cash and I finance $5,900 same interest (they just made $1,200 instantly) Neither is a good deal. I am not about to hand any financing company $1200 of my money just for filling out paperwork and giving me money. good luck
  23. Just based on this alone my sweet, you might want to rethink. Talk later gator
  24. May 10th! I would do it tomorrow if I could as far as the ticker, go into your profile. It took me a bit to figure it out
