It's no joke a full time job, I'm 2 & 1/2 weeks weeks out and I have to set alarms on my phone to remind me to get Protein in and drink. It was hard for me the first two weeks although I managed but it's getting a lot easier! My stomach is handling more liquids. Then it was before . Don't get me wrong it's still a chore but it's getting easier. Just aim for high protein. I usually do a scoop of 30 gm Protein Drink with 5oz Water in the morning and night.. 4 oz cottage cheese 13 gm protein , zero calorie ice cold Vitamin water made with trivia is a life saver..I love the strawberry lemonade one. It's not acidic tasting . I carry water with me 24 hour and drink. Drink drink even if I'm not thirsty I make myself go through a 20oz vit water, 16 oz water, plus whatever I mix in to my Protein Drinks , posix le and more after before bed. It's literally a full time job....it'll pay off

Sounds like low blood sugar, this happens to me. I was sweating, shaking, collapsed on the floor. So now I carry tic tacs in my purse as a back up but I always try to carry a container of Powerade WITH sugar, I drink 2-5 oz and I feel back to normal. Try to split your Protein up and have some in the beginning middle and end of day so you can keep your blood sugar consistent. Helped me so much!

I use calcium chews that are the consistency of startbursts and gummie Multivitamins with no issues. Been on the chews since right after surgery and switched to gummies after two months. So aside from the sugar if you aren't having issues with other solids I don't think the consistency texture is going to be a problem.
One piece of candy every now and again is probably not enough sugar going to cause issues for your stomach, but you wont know until you try.
I think the bigger issues is just that the primary goal post op is to meet nutrition requirements as efficiently as possible and also build better habits. I definitely go off plan every once in a while, I imagine every has their little indulgences. A spoonful or two of Peanut Butter, some cashews or peanuts, but I still try to make sure those things are helping me it my Protein goals, even if the calorie to Protein ratio is less ideal that my normal meal choices.
Candy is just sugar, it's one of the big things we are supposed to avoid. Just added calories. It can also be habit forming, you can't just buy five skittles, or one starburst. So if you get it, it's always going to be there.
I see a lot of questions about "When can I eat "fill in the blank junk food/carb food". I'm pretty sure we all have those cravings. I almost had a panic attack pre op when I realized I wasn't going to be able to eat pizza or Chinese for at least a year/year and a half if ever. Once we hit goal weight and enter maintenance mode I think it's ok to experiment a little with those things and see if we can have them without binging, without affecting weight/nutrition goals negatively. But it's something to be very careful with I think. Building good habits during the weight loss period I think is important with building control for later on.
So basically that's a long winded way of saying one or two small pieces of candy a week will probably not affect you unless your new pouch doesn't like sugar. Buuuuuuutttt it's probably a bad idea until you hit goal weight/maintenance mode and even then food like this should be introduced verrrry carefully and you'll need to pay close attention to how it affects you.

I don't know if they carry Bariatric Advantage brand at GNC, but I can tell you how heavenly their Calcium/Vitamin D chews are! I have chocolate/peanut butter and I LOVE them. They are like candy, and they settle my stomach after I take my other pills. They sell them on Bariatric Pal.

Ooh good suggestion about puréed meat in tomato soup! I'm obsessed with my tom soup right now being on full liquids, I'm getting it at Panera (it's heavenly) I was thinking mannnn I don't want to ever touch broth again I'm so sick of it from my first few weeks post op, I really didn't wanna put it in meat and purée it, but awesome suggestion, I may even try some cheese soup :-P

My surgeon told me to write myself a note and put it somewhere I'd see to remind myself that 2-3 weeks post-op the weight loss would stop. It's totally normal and just the body taking a moment to recalibrate after such a significant weight loss. It will kick in again soon. Just give your body a chance to sort itself out. It's all good.

    Hey everyone,
Just started week 2 of my full-liquid diet today, and I'm dreading stage 3... Puréed for me starts next Tuesday, and I don't know what I'm going to do. I've been looking at some baby food, but I'm worried I won't be able to tolerate it since my attempt to have yogurt almost made me dry heave.
My one thought was to do another 2 weeks of liquids, but I really should make some kind of attempt to thicken what I'm eating so I can be following the program.
Anyone have any suggestions or recipes that got you through the purée stage? Tomato Soup is my favorite thing during this stage, so if anyone has a thicker Tomato Soup suggestion that would be great... Looking forward to hearing what you guys think.
I was thinking of getting some chicken and cooking it, then purring it inside some tomato soup...
I'll eat/drink anything in tomato Soup at this point to get through those two weeks LOL.
    Thanks in advance.

I am a little over five months post op, and I have had a few bites of candy here and there. For me, I can control how much of it I eat, and one starburst isn't going to kill me. I haven't had laffy taffy, but I have had one of those cherry mini airheads and it was fine. No issues at all, except it being SUPER sweet compared to what I am used to. I have noticed that I have a huge problem eating anything Gummy though. The air head was okay, and I am thinking a starburst or skittle would be fine as well, but I ate 3 gummy bears the one day and I was so uncomfortable and ended up being very uncomfortable for at least an hour. Then a few weeks later I had a gummy lifesaver, and the same thing happened. I was sick and uncomfortable. So for me, candy is okay, but gummy is no good lol

@@Inner Surfer Girl brings up a great point that I didn't think about even though I am eating those chews. Maybe because my flavor is coconut I didn't think starbursts, but they are very similar in taste and texture!

When did you have your surgery? When did you notice your stall? I will do measurements more so when I start weight lifting again cause that's when you gain muscles but lose inches. Right now I'm just walking so it's either Water weight or sodium from Soups, something idk! :-|

Enjoy a piece of your candy occasionally. We did not have surgery to spend the rest of our lives never enjoying food. Guess what? At three months post-op I had chocolate..10 days of chocolate at Christmas because I have a deal with myself that I only get chocolate between Christmas and New Year. I did not die, I did not gain weight, and it was damn good. January I then got right back on the wagon and did not have any chocolate again until the next year. Here is the funny part though...last Christmas was my third Christmas post-sleeve. I knew that if I wanted to have chocolate I could and I had zero interest in any sweets at all until I realized it was New Year's Eve and I had not had anything fun to eat! I got a bag of Peanut Butter cups, a brownie, two bags of that puppy chow stuff, and a few other random pieces of chocolate. I was going to enjoy the heck out of the night and I had maybe two Peanut Butter cups, a few bites of brownie, a handful of puppy chow and I was then like, ok I think I might die, this was not fun. I then put the junk away and had no interest in eating any more of it again.
There is nothing wrong with wanting a piece of candy now and then of the foods you named, if you only have a few bites, you are not going to hurt yourself and you might not even get sick. I used to get hot flashes with sugar, so you might dump, you might not. I did not get a sleeve so I could eat chicken and broccoli for the rest of my life and there is no reason you can't periodically enjoy some junk food.< /p>
The part you might find most amusing though is that after awhile you don't really crave that food any more. I got an Easter basket filled with sugary Snacks that I would have normally loved. I poured it all into a ziploc bag figuring I would eat it later and I haven't had a single piece. I think it's somewhere in my pantry. I LOVE sugar...or maybe more appropriately, I LOVED sugar. I could eat a bakery. At almost three years post-op, I very rarely crave any kind of baked good, I have zero interest in candy, and if I want a snack, my go-to not great for me food is crackers and a Fiber One Bar. I think part of the reason for this is because with a sleeve, there is no food I am not allowed to eat. If I really want a cookie, I can have one, which has resulted in virtually no interest in eating one.
How you use your sleeve is something that you will learn and if part of losing weight you reward yourself with a few skittles or laffy taffy, then good for you, enjoy them and then go back to eating healthy stuff. The point of the sleeve for most people is to have a normal life, where food does not dictate your every thought and action. Being normal means sometimes you get to have some cake, or in your case, starbursts, and it also means after you've had a few, you put the bag down and don't eat the rest. Go be normal....and if you get sick, think of it as your stomach conditioning you to not eat junk, lol.

It depends on your plan. My purée stage (stage 2 of my diet) says no eggs. I am on this stage for two weeks and then I can have eggs. So I can't have the ricotta bake yet. But a lot of people are able to have eggs on this stage. So I think it just depends on your diet plan.

I occasionally have a piece of chocolate or a few tic tacos. Haven't tried skittles or laffy taffy. My thought is if they don't trigger you to over eat then once you're at goal, every once in a while wouldn't hurt.
