Xine78 got a reaction from kvlasy in May slow losers - vent here!
This past week I really started focusing on tracking all of my calories. On Monday I ate as I normally would (post surgery ofcourse) just to see what my intake was. I was going waaay over 800. So I started modifying what I ate. Its still hard for me to stay at 800 but I'm trying foods to keep it low. My goal now is 800-1000. And that still might be too much. Anyway my weighin day is Friday. So in the few days that I've been reducing my calories, I lost 1.5lbs. I know that doesn't sound like much but I was thrilled! !! This is tmi But I also have my period and hadn't gone to the bathroom in a few days so I with factoring in that, I was proud!

I've now lost 40lbs since may 7. Slow losers unite!
I've been working my butt off lately and not seen any change to the scales but I can definitely feel I'm toning up. I figured if I actually calculated how much in total I've exercised it looks like I've achieved a lot (well a lot for me anyway)!
Here is the list so far:
    Swimming breaststroke 6km
    Running 11km
    Weights x 2 days for 40min
    Walking 7.5km

Thanks to all the slow losers posting. I welcomed the encouragement. Feels good to know we're not alone.
I do however encourage all the slow losers to keep posting so we can band together or maybe even start a new thread to keep encouraging each other! It's great that everyone's losing and I hope everyone keeps their chins up.
    To infinity and beyond!

There was a post on another thread that said when you begin working out your muscles retain Water during the "repair" phase, then shed it afterwards. Could be another cause of temporary weight gain.

We have people that do the same thing. I also have people that are really rude. I quit going until I take some weight off. I was getting snide looks and re-wiping my equipment after I just wiped very well. Seems fat people may have a disease they don't want to catch.

Xine78 reacted to princesstia in Cardio gets the fat off! especially for the newly sleeved!
Cardio gets the fat off! If you’re in the early stages of this weight loss, I just want to share and point out, that the best thing you can do to see inches lost and pounds keep coming off is Cardio! And tons of it. Cardio can be boring. I’ll agree. But it’s soooo effective in getting the heart rate up and also building the endurance required to get through those intense weight training sessions when they are added into your exercise regimen.
I have been doing some tests on myself just trying to figure out my body. I am a gym rat at this point nearly 7 months post op. I do a lot of strength training and cardio. I notice some weeks I just don’t have the energy reserve to weight train, but because my endurance is so great I just go cardio crazy just to say I didn’t sit on my a** all week. This usually happens about 1-2 weeks before my menstrual comes along. I notice during this period I lose pounds (somewhere between 4-6 pounds in a week if I go consistently 5 days straight at 1 hour each day). Then when I jump back into my weight training, there is no loss, but rather a small gain (usually about .5-1 pound) but inches are loss. I’m guessing this is because muscle is replacing fat, and a pound of fat is much fluffier than a pound of muscle, thus why weight stays the same but body looks and feels smaller. Unintentionally I have been playing this game with my body, and it happens to work! Bodybuilders would call this cut and bulk phasing. Where they’d do massive weight training and eat like crazy to bulk up and gain some serious muscle, then do massive cardio and cut calories to cut some serious fat. They play this game alternating week by week sometimes longer, and this is what creates that chiseled ripped look. You bulk up for muscle, and cut to get rid of excess fat!
In spite of it all, if you’re beginning to work out, don’t overwhelm yourself trying to weight train. Leave that for later when you’ve plateaued and want to switch up your regimen and jump start your metabolism. Just get into cardio for now. Your intake is already limited. The cardio will do its job for you. Become comfortable (not bored) with it. Switch it up. Try walking 30 minutes a day. When that gets easy, try a treadmill at the same pace but with an incline. You’ve doubled calories burned that quick! When that gets easy, jump on the elliptical (low impact and easy and burns a ton of calories once you get your breathing right). When that gets easy, add the stair master. Incorporate programs like 0 to 5k to increase endurance. Just work on that heart! It is essentially what burns fat and boosts the metabolism. Once you’re good with that, start weight training. You’ll have the endurance necessary to get through the workouts, and you’ll begin to tone and build muscle.
The best thing for your body at this stage in the game is to get active. Don’t just sit around because your stomach is the size of a tennis ball and wait for the weight to fall off! Be proactive! Nothing worse than a skinny fat person! Meaning a person that is in the ideal weight range as far as BMI but has a body fat % of over 30%. Believe me, most skinny people are fat! Also don’t get bogged down with BMI charts. They are very misleading. For example, a man 5’8 at 200 pounds is considered to have a bmi of 30 which is obese. But what if he is only 8% body fat (like most bodybuilders)? Is he really obese or unhealthy? Or in vice versa, a female that is 5’5 at 130 pounds and 38% body fat. Her BMI is 21 which is in the normal range, but she is unhealthy. Build muscle, burn fat! And the best way to jumpstart that is cardio. You will look better and feel better.. hope this helps you guys, especially the beginners!

I'm trying to get myself in to that mentality. I'm about 7-8 weeks out and I haven't lost much. I'm a slow loser. I lost 4.5lbs in my 2 week pre op diet. So total pounds lost including preop is 26. I mean I know its still good but I thought it would come off faster. But I really think I'm just so anxious to start seeing a big change. I'm gonna try giving up the scale.. but ill probably fail at that lol.

It was Ok until she found out he was dating other women...she is scorned...but in all other countries Dr.s act less professional and you can take it a different way if you are not from the same culture.

Really? I just read this and my mouth is hanging open... I'm not sure what you are looking for as far as "advice" here but your husband spying on you, In my eyes is the least of your problems, in my book. Putting aside all of the dysfunction in this relationship. I'm just a little... Ok a lot freaked out that you say you caught him MAKING DRUGS and you continue to stay there with your 15 month old child??? I don't give a f**k if he "worships you like a goddess" you need to get your child away from a dangerous potentially deadly situation.

My surgery was May 7th and including my pre-op diet I have lost 31 pounds. But the biggest loss came yesterday - my doc removed all insulin - which I was at 4 shots a day. I was put on an oral med for diabetes - but I don't mind that at all. I've also come off high blood pressure and cholesterol meds!!! I think I've hit a stall but I'm ok with that- it's normal and there is no way I won't keep losing with the small amounts I'm eating. Keep going May Sleevers - we got this :-)

Don't be to hard on your self. One trick my nurse told me was to use baking extracts to give variety to the shakes. That helped me out a ton!! So what I do is add Almond or pineapple & Coconut (Can you say Pina Colada!!) extract to the vanilla Premier, makes it really good.
Hope that helps you out! You are almost to Puree, then easy street.
