Insurance to pay
I don't know about all health insurance companies but my husband works for Blue Cross Blue Shield & he says the only way they'd pay for any type of cosmetic surgery is if it causes a medical condition, as in rashes or yeast infections. I just hope when I get to goal that I won't be tripping over my own tummy skin! As it is, I'll be tripping over my boobs!

You probably have enough reasons already but each insurance company is different. The best way to find out is to call & ask them. Good luck to you!

To tell or not to tell
Couldn't have said this better myself! I totally agree with you. With all that being said, naturally my husband knows & 2 very close friends who live out of state & I did tell one of my neighbors (who doesn't talk to the other neighbors) in case I need help with my special needs son. That's it. Those 4 people know how important it is to me for it to remain private. I just don't want to deal with the negativity & the "can't you just join Weight Watchers??" If someone says to me "you took the easy way out" somebody better hold me back! That's why its no one's business! Maybe you have better friends/relatives than I have. So just do what's right for you. If it's to hard to keep a secret, then just tell...but be prepared for everyone's input.

Suggestions for pre op supplies from Costco, protien shakes, vitamens, food etc?
If you don't have a coupon & need one, they have their coupon booklets at the customer service desk. I just bought a case of vanilla. I have also recently changed the facility where I was going to have my surgery so their program is a bit different & while the first hospital okay'd the Premier Protein shakes, the new hospital I'm going thru now doesn't approve of it. I'm going to use them anyway. Naturally the new hospital program wants me to buy their own brand of shakes which are far more expensive. I heard there is some delish organic broth at costco in the spices aisles I believe the girl wrote. It was posted here on this forum somewhere.

Do your feet really shrink?
Oh, I so wish I hadn't been able to part with mine. I hadn't been able to wear them for years & my foot size has grown so figured it was a lost cause keeping my closet cluttered for no reason. I'm just sick about giving them up. Of course, now it's been about 10 years since I gave them up, but you know, they were classic shoes, so they never go out of style. I adored them but there is no way I can ever afford another pair. I had bought 2 pair when I was single & then my husband bought me another 2 pair for my birthday one year. My first two pair were from the Beverly Hills store on Rodeo Drive....I used to work in B.H. when I lived in CA, so I'd go on my lunch & window shopped (& saved a lot) till I could afford my first pair!! They were as comfy as sneakers & soooooo pretty! Hey! Maybe I'll start saving now & by the time I get to goal, I will buy myself another pair! Yeah...right. For some reason, now that I'm a Mom, I can't even make myself spend that kind of money on just shoes. Good luck going shopping for yours!

Web page for SPOUSES?
My husband didn't want me to have the surgery until he educated himself on it. He works for BCBS so he did all the inquiries on it & found it to be a safe surgery & certainly safer than me staying at this body weight. So after he was educated, he not only approved but he's my biggest supporter! I don't know if I could go thru something this drastic without his blessings. I really don't. Especially since he's only one of 3 I've told!

just a bite?
This is going to be something we will all have to work hard on getting over. You're just so lucky that you haven't had any tummy issues with the bites here & there. Forgive yourself & move on. Don't get caught in that cycle again, you took such a drastic step to help yourself, why sabotage yourself post sleeve? In fact, I just got up from my computer & went to my pantry where I have a bunch of junk my kids eat & I was looking at what I could have. Am I hungry? NO! In fact, I'm full! But it's probably nothing more than habit ~ so I shut the pantry door & walked away saying out loud "you've got to stop this NOW!" Lets hope I listen to myself the next time I do that! Can you attend a support group meeting? That's what I"m going to have to do...weekly if not more!
