Long and short of it, i've always been overweight. I never thought about weightloss surgery until my hisbands doctor recomended it as an option for him. Hw was greatly overweight with several co morbidities and a condition that gives him very limited energy. At first i thought that it was a cop out, an, "easy way out". But i agrfeed to go o the class with im and begin the process, to learn more about it. At that time the only operation offered was the RNY. We both decided to go for it. But after much research we decided that that was not the way for us to go. WE both really liked the idea of the sleeve, with it's relative simpliticy, no monkeying with your intestins and little to no malabsorbtion issues. However at the time the VSG was still considered experimental. So we decided to wait. We continued working on our weightloss, with very little results. Finally my husbands insurance covered teh sleeve so he got submitted, and approved. He had his surgery in October of 2012. My insurance followed suite a few months later and i was approved in February 2013 with a surgery date of March 6 2013. After having gone through the entire process, i can confidently say it is no "easy way out" for sure!!
