I'm also in Prairiville. My surgery was with Dr. Bellanger at Woman's two days ago. I have already dropped five pounds and feel really good! A little nausea and very minimal soreness (the iv spot hurts more than my tummy!) and just trying to get in my Water.
I really look forward to getting to know y'all!

I love Linda and Katherine! They made this proces so much easier.
Dr. Bellanger actually came in on his off day to do my surgery since I am a teacher and hate to miss school. I get to recuperate during Spring Break!

Hey y'all! I was sleeved yesterday. The whole operation took only 45 minutes and the surgeon said it was very easy. I spent extra time in recovery with high bp, but it's regulated now. I spent all of last night so sick from the pain pump medicine, though. When I finally convinced the nurses to stop giving it to me and give me something not as strong, the nausea went away.
I have a two-story house and my room is upstairs. I've made about 5 trips up and down the stairs to get more Water. I'm able to take in about 3 oz per hour, except when I have to take medicine, then it's only about 1-2 oz. I'm using Isopure blue with blue G2 and it's pretty good! I count that as liquid intake for now.
Thanks to all of you in the forum who have prayed for all of us. I hope your surgeries were as smooth as mine!

And CarrieP..don't forget..."We have disguised major surgery with tiny incisions"..(my doc said that the next morning, and it sort of gave me the permission to feel like crap!) You (we) have had major surgery and it's ok and expected to feel bad. I promise it gets better!

    Hey, lilmiss-
You just take it one day and even one hour at a time. I know that some people don't have that much pain, but that was not my experience. This is real surgery that brings on real pain and requires significant rest to heal, along with all the re-learning to eat that we are all facing. We are also dealing with chonic near-dehydration and other insufficiencies, os we are juggling a lot both physically and emotionally right after surgery. I think I myself truly underestimated how much rest I would need each day just to get through the day.
I think you need to remember that almost everyone who has gone through this has reached that moment where the healing really begins and you start to feel normal again. You'll get there!! Just pray and take it easy as much as possible and seek to get through each hour and each day. It WILL happen!!

    Hello, fellow March Sleevers-
I was sleeved on March 11th, two weeks ago today. I thought I would post and tell you that this morning was the first day since the surgery that I woke up feeling something close to normal. Even last night I had some bubbling and frothing that I haven't had since the day after surgery, but finally I feel like I'm getting clear of the body aches and the whole post-surgical blah. Maybe I'm also pretty excited about transitioning in one week from high-protein liquids to something closer to real food like a soft-boiled egg. I am pretty sick of Protein shakes! Anyway, I've lost 20 pounds since the surgery, and 34 pounds since the decision to do it, and I'm excited for both scale and Non-Scale victories. I'm just so glad that a day has come where I don't feel like yesterday's garbage. Light at the end of the post-op tunnel!

I didn't have a drain. Surgery on the 12th and incision sights are almost healed. I showed a friend Saturday night and she couldn't believe it. I have my scar away strips ready to go as soon as 100% healed. My incision from my tubal looks worse than the sleeve sights.

I think it's especially important for us to pay attention to these things too. Not only because it takes so much less to knock us on our butts.
I think the risk of a "crossover addiction" is very easy! I come from a background of family members with addiction issues (drugs alcohol) I have NEVER had a problem with drugs or alcohol (just food) .
I was very prepared for many things after surgery but the one thing I didn't think about was the temptation to find comfort in things that never comforted me before.. The weeks after my surgery I became increasingly aware of my "need" for my pain meds (refilled twice) it got to a point I looked forward to my nightly dose. I wasn't taking it during the day just at night for my relaxing down time (the time I used to over eat also). I knew it was becoming an issue so I fessed up to my husband who then helped me hold myself accountable after. I guess for that reason now I only have a glass of wine when I'm out at a social event and not at home alone, at least for now....

Yesterday was awful. Emotions all over, nerves and stress levels on high. Today is much, much better (just ask my man!). Pre-op tomorrow and surgery on the 25th! I feel pretty crappy right now thanks to a farewell to food (and alcohol) festival this evening.
Passed the psych eval today...I felt confident and "normal," lol, but that's my "I don't know you so I am just going to show you my well-educated side." Lol.
Hope you're all well! Thanks for sharing your stories. The camaraderie of this thread amazes me. I love it.

JolieBug reacted to New1 in 1 year, 100 lbs lost!
My surgiversary was March 13, 2013. I've lost 100 lbs. Went from 260 lbs to 160 lbs.
Size 24W to size 12/14 ladies/13 juniors, 2x tops and bottoms to Med tops and large bottoms.
    Measurements bust/waist/hips 42/42/53 inches to 36/32/38.
    I'm 5'2'' with a current BMI of 29 down from 48.
I have 24 lbs to get to a "normal" BMI
I'm 10 lbs away from my personal goal of 150 lbs.
I'm eating between 900 and 1100 cal per day aiming for 60 g of Protein and 60 g of carbs.
I can eat most foods, slowly.
I'm having a more difficult time avoiding snack foods.
My mind/mirror image has not caught up with my current weight (I still feel very fat and see a fat girl in the mirror)
So all in all I have come a long way and have a long way to go still.
I'm so grateful for this journey. Peace and blessings fellow sleevers!
