You know when I first read this that was my first thought. God knows the number of hairs on our head. I believe we came onto this earth with a predetermined date and we will leave with a predetermined date. I am a saved believing christian and I know that God already knew my walk on this earth including this surgery. So I will keep the faith and lose weight with a smile on my face.

I weigh myself every morning and log it into MFP. I accept the number and I might beat myself up a little from time to time, I can guarantee you it's not anything like the beatings I used to give myself when I was making bad choices.
Throughout the day, I will weigh myself and at night when I brush, I will weigh myself when I strip own to get in my jammies.
I always get up in the middle of the night to brush and I weigh then, too.
I've heard a million times about weighing once a week and once a month but I don't give a rip. It is what it is and I'm happy. I don't care to change and I'm not going to.
I might even get nekky and weigh right now. . Think of it as step aerobics.

I'm going to post the same advice to you as I just did to someone else in another thread. Go to a pet store and look ( you don't even have to pick it up) at a 50 pound bag of dog food. Every time I hit a slump, or stall I go find something that is close to the amount that I have lost. it inspires me to keep going. I have compared my loss to a 5 pound bag of sugar, 10 pounds of potatos, and pet food.

I think this is a really hard part about losing weight... Body image. The other day I had a few minutes of feeling almost sexy because of my weight loss followed by sadness because I was unhappy with my body STILL!
The fact of the matter my body is still my body. It's not going to change into someone else's body when I lose weight.
I think it's not ever a good idea to try to mold yourself after a "celebrity" especially one that has every shot on tv and film carefully edited so what we see is not always reality..

Hi colcol, Sliders may be different for each of us... potato chips, crackers, cookies... all go down EASY... and with little or no feeling of fullness. Milkshakes, ice cream, mixed drinks, candy....You can eat around your sleeve with these...and it can slow your loss, or even make you gain. Log what you eat to keep track. Protein first gives you the feeling of fullness the best... do not drink during or just after eating, it washes the food though and you get "empty" sooner. Good luck!
...and by the way, this is the "Vets" forum, the little corner of this site set aside for Vets comments and questions that come up when your are beyond a year of surgery. We will be here for you in a year when you need us with your matured sleeve and goal questions! Cheers!

For me, (and strictly for me), I jettisoned soda. Don't need it, there's nothing redeeming about soda (diet or regular). There's way better and more beneficial ways to get refreshed and re-hydrated. Beyond just soda, I think people miss a pretty important yet simple point.....We are all fat There is no normal in our world. We call it addictions or disorders or what ever. But if we climbed up spread eagle on an cold operating table and let a group of strangers cut out our perfectly functional stomach, in order to chase the holy grail of slimness, shouldn't we do our part to make the commitment to become as healthy as possible? My philosophy is simple...get healthy. If I had been a smoker, I would have stopped, If I was a heavy drinker, I would have stopped. I WAS a habitual drug user and I stopped. I am FAT, so I stopped doing the things that made me FAT. Will one soda hurt, probably not, would one donut hurt? probably not, would a pint of cherry garcia hurt?....who knows. It all starts to pile up after a while. If that soda is the only way that you will be happy in life, by all means have that soda. But ask yourself....."self, is this soda the real key to my happiness?" Probably not.........It's really corny, but in the end it really is true...nothing tastes as good as healthy feels....

amgood, thanks for checking in with a status report...sorry about those first few days post-op but sounds like you are overcoming and have a great attitude...I don't know what Protein Shakes you've tried, but I haven't found many I can tolerate...my favorite so far is the Unjury power in chocolate Splendor flavor...I like shakes as cold as possible so usually I mix a scoop with some low-fat milk and ice cubes and blend in my Ninja...sometimes I add a scoop of PB2 for Peanut Butter flavoring....best to you for continued success

This is an interesting thought, because I think we all "rewarded" ourselves with food and comforted ourselves with food. I know after surgery when I "needed" comfort the most, my old way of comforting was rudely yanked away from me... It made for some sad days in the beginning.
As for the punishment? I think that is part of the overeating thing too. Reward/punishment all at the same time. When I ate, I ate until there was pain, I "filled that hole" with pain and when it subsided I filled some more...
There is a lot for all of us to learn while we travel this road.

As a person that suffers from anxiety and depression I would urge him to get help and get on those meds. That might make a big change in how he feels about affection. I know when I'm feeling extra anxious the last thing I want is someone touching me or someone wanting anything from me. Sometimes it's a chore just to get out of bed and put on real clothes. Not that I am making excuses for him because he shouldn't treat you poorly regardless.
The fact is you can't change him. You can't change anything about this except how you deal with the situation. You have to do what is best for your life and if he refuses to get on the meds he needs then you have the choice to stay or go.
Don't cheat. Just leave him if it comes to that.

Thank you for understanding my intent. I wish you good luck. You both deserve to be in a relationship where you are loved and are getting the affection you need. Your child deserves to grow up witnessing a healthy relationship as well.
As for your hope? You deserve his interest whether you are fat, thin, purple or grow a foot out of your forehead. It's unconditional love and we all deserve it.

If you are worried that YOU are going to cheat before you've even had the surgery, you need to really explore if you want to be with him. Sounds to me that the issue is In your court right now. I do not mean to sound harsh but perhaps his anxiety an unwillingness to be affectionate stems from knowing you are already doubting your ability to be faithful.

Had surgery yesterday, feeling good today. No nausea or vomiting (so far). Just tired because I never get a good nights sleep in hosp. Im just watching tv and sipping away. Been for a little walk and had a shower. This is heaps easier than I was expecting, so i guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Hope you are all doing well, check in with us when you feel up to it
