DonRodolfo got a reaction from Danni-doinit4me in Does running get easier?
Not only does it get easier but it could become, brace yourself, enjoyable!
This time last year I was in the vicinity of 400lbs - yesterday I ran 6.5 miles. If the C25K gets too tough, do NOT hesitate to take it slower but get to that goal.
The first time I ran 5K on the treadmill I cried lol!
EDIT: This popped up on my Facebook timeline right after I posted the above: http://www.runnersworld.com/beginners/top-10-newbie-training-tips?cm_mmc=Facebook-_-RunnersWorld-_-Content-Training-_-Top10NewbieTips

DonRodolfo reacted to longtimecoming7 in Stalls are a myth!
It occurs to me that a "stall" is not really a thing. I have been confused and upset by these "stalls" since the very first episode at 3 weeks.
But, as I read what you folks have to say, it dawns on me that it is EXPECTED, it is definitely part of the process. We need to stop even thinking about them as a halt of sorts, but a minor blip in the overall path to success.
I was mislead by so many member's descriptions of their weight loss. They would say, "....stick with it and the weight will fall off!" OR "... I had my surgery a minute ago and I've lost 100lbs!"
Comparing won't kill you if you take it with a grain of salt. Understand that, for the majority, the weight doesn't just "fall" off! It comes of in dribs and drabs and once in a while we may be surprised with a loss that is a pound and 1/4 more than normal.
    Don't be fooled.
    You are doing it right!
    You are amazing!

i'm 50. i've only been sleeved for a little over 4 weeks. I've had to make changes in my life and i will never eat the same again. Would i have the surgery again with what I know now? I'd have it without question.
I've proven in the past that I can take off 50 pounds with just a bit of effort. Problem is, it always comes back. The sleeve gives me a fighting chance this time.

I think it's unfair to blame the surgeon, personally. Take the advice above, start back on plan now, not later, and go back to high Protein low carb as recommended.
Good luck to you! You can do this.

DonRodolfo reacted to NY Lou in 11 months out and just ran a 26.2 mile marathon - with before & after pics
its been a little over 11 months since my sleeve surgery (march 19, 2013). yesterday I accomplished a goal that ive had since I was a teenager. im 50 years old now and just ran my first full 26.2 mile marathon! my goal was under 5 hours and I did it in 4 hours 51 minutes. ive been running ever since I started exercising after surgery and when I first started I couldn't run for more than 1 minute! after running a few 13.1 mile half marathons i started training 5 months ago for a full 26.2 mile marathon and now I can finally check that off my bucket list. today im at my lowest weight ever at 180.25 pounds. for the last 20 years before surgery I was always around 300 pounds. im so grateful for this surgery, but the truth is that if you don't use the surgery as a tool along with good food choices and exercise, it will be hard to achieve your long term goals. the surgery alone may have lost me 60 pounds, but believe me, the last 60 pounds is because of me using my new sleeve as part of an entire life style change that includes eating healthy, knowing when to say no when my sleeve is satisfied (not bursting) and dedicating myself to exercise 4x a week even when I don't feel like doing it. I never thought I would be a success story as that always happened to someone else, not me....well now its me and it can be you too! best of luck to everyone, post pre-surgery and post-surgery. just remember to stop making excuses and start making the changes to guarantee yourself success.

How many of that groups meetings have you been to? Are you aware that they also do weekend walks, many of the local 5k/10k/half-marathons in the area, and other fitness activities?
Have you been to any of the other groups in the DFW area?

Good morning all my beautiful sleevers! So I had an amazing NSV Saturday I had to share. I was out on the town with friends in a very hip spot of Dallas. I was out with my gorgeous leggy model looking friend who's a showstopper. I felt good and happy I wasn't insecure but by no means thinking anyone would give me a second look. But I love to dance so I went out on the dance floor and was shaking my moneymaker just in my element. I open my eyes and all eyes are on ME. I was so into the music I hadn't noticed sooner. All of a sudden a tall lean young guy comes up and starts dancing with me. He grabs me by my waist and picks me up! (jaw drop....heart racing....no time to process) he just tossed me in the air effortlessly. I seriously felt like Baby from Dirty Dancing. Hahaha. I've never ever felt so small, sexy and exhilarated. Best night ever!!! I attached a pic of me and of my beautiful friends who were with me that night.

    Interested!

DonRodolfo got a reaction from corks in Getting nervous due to all the comments I am hearing
Perfectly normal to hear all those things and feel what you're feeling.
"...dont do that your not that fat"
What does the guy staring back at you in the mirror say? He's the one you have to make happy and answer to each morning.
    "...your not gonna qualify"
The person that said this knows this how?
"...just put some time in at the gym"
If it were that simple doctors wouldn't be doing this surgery. One of the first questions I was asked by my surgeon was if I had tried to lose weight before and how did I go about it. Going to the gym was one of my answers, and I did lose weight, only to put it all back on and more.
    "people die from this surgery"
Unfortunately, this is truth. There are stories of this on Bariatric Pal. i was aware that people died from the surgery when i went on the table. It was worth it for me.
"but I have other medical issued ( high b/p., back issues) that made me make this descion."
Me too. High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, couldn't sleep flat on a bed for > 10 years. I can go on.
"I am also starting to get nervous due to being put to sleep. "
Have you never been put under before?
All worrying does is waste your time and energy. Most people have have had this surgery. It hasn't been easy for all of them but I'm sure most would agree it was worth it.
