Sure you can! cheese sticks, 100 cal packs of almonds, beef Jerky, thin sliced deli meat, all beef lower fat hot dogs, Protein Bars, grab and go hummus cups with pretzel thins, yogurt...
You'll get to the point where it's second nature and it's OH SO worth it. I can run, I can jump, I can do more with my kids than ever before. I can shop in any store, I can buy any outfit off the rack, I look cute in clothes now and I don't mind getting my picture taken. (What the what!?!?!)
You need to find your happiness in something other than food. Zumba? Walking a dog? Knitting? Reading a great book? A new set of friends at a meet-up group? food is fuel and a necessity for your body, but not a necessity for your happiness. Go find something you love to replace eating. You will be SO glad you did.

Best advice ever! I currently go to 3-4 different groups, and each one is very different. I'm moving across the Metroplex and will be looking for new ones too.

I have to wonder if you're not suffering from depression which is actually common in our situation. May I suggest you see someone.
Coming from a person that would frequently start their day with 3500 calories worth of Breakfast, I'm here to tell you the only regret I have is that I wasted 10+ years of my life as a sedentary slug. I eat whatever I want, but I make smarter choices about it. I have more energy than I did at 40 years old and I ran 6.4 miles yesterday (without the need to be in the hospital today ) and I am training for my first half-marathon. A year ago I would have told you that you were on crack if you told me I'd be doing this today.
Yeah, you've given up a few things but you have gained SO MUCH more and you need to take advantage of it to get the full benefit.

DonRodolfo got a reaction from Alex Brecher in Guys, what do you consider your ideal pants size ?
According to an article I read recently in Men's Health (see test #1) ( http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/3-simple-fitness-tests?cm_mmc=Facebook-_-MensHealth-_-Content-Fitness-_- ), the ideal waist size for a person is half their height. If I'm 68 inches tall, my ideal waist size would be 34.

I loved it with the prosciutto, but you could probably do ham as well. I could only eat half at a time, and it's even good right out of the fridge.

But 7.4 is a lot better for you, isn't it? I get my first post-op A1C next week. I am eager to see it. If you're doing a lot of snacking and not tracking, try MFP. It helps remind me to check my blood and check my carbs. Mainly, I use it for calories, and can't go without it. (I guess I use it the way others use the scale.) It keeps me honest and focused. It reminds me to reach for the sugar free popsicle instead of something calorie-laden.

it just scares me that I know I should not be snacking in between my meals and I am probably getting too many calories in. I need to start tracking them.

DonRodolfo got a reaction from Mrs. Whatsit in loose skin after 50
I am 51, was sleeved at 50. I've lost 188lbs as I type this and made the mistake of looking at my backside in the mirror. :-( That being said I am healthier, more active, and no longer taking high blood pressure or diabetes meds. A couple days ago I bought the first 1X shirt since the early 1990s.
I'll live with the loose skin until it causes me medical issues.

Not only does it get easier but it could become, brace yourself, enjoyable!
This time last year I was in the vicinity of 400lbs - yesterday I ran 6.5 miles. If the C25K gets too tough, do NOT hesitate to take it slower but get to that goal.
The first time I ran 5K on the treadmill I cried lol!

It was both a shock and a joy for me when I attempted my first run after losing about 80 pounds. I kept waiting for the "wall", it didn't come! My heart, lungs, and muscles were keeping me going.
I almost cried, it took me back to when I was a skinny lad who ran everywhere just because I could and it felt good. There is such an elation that comes with realizing that you have another chance at health.
The only thing that slows me down are my 65 year old joints but I work around them.

I just ran my second 5K race this past weekend. I finished 3rd in my age division, and beat my old time by 4 minutes. I have only been running for two months. I don't know if it gets easier, but I love the fact that is pushes my body and my mind to places I didn't think were possible. If I can stay healthy I suspect I will be logging some serious miles this spring. Good luck with your training!!!

I have found that music is the key. There are certain songs that make me crave running. I used to hate it and due to a bad left knee swore I would never enjoy it. Amazingly at 135 lbs I love it. Boobs finally shrunk to a manageable size for enjoyment!!
