  1. Your NUT might be talking about a product like I use called GNC AMP Wheybolic which is marketed along side of GNCs bodybuilding formulas. And it clearly says "not for weight loss use" (as do MANY other brands). I wish I had the opportunity to ask your NUT how I managed to lose 80lbs in 4 months postop using my GNC AMP Wheybolic every morning. My point here is I believe your NUT is trying to get you to buy her brand.
  2. You're going to get different answers with this one. I waited until full foods to try anything spicy - it's possible trying them before that point might irritate your tummy. I'd ask your surgeon for the final word. I haven't had an issue with spicy food.
  3. Chew 20 to 30 times for each bite until it is the consistency of applesauce or finer. Even scrambled eggs. Don't worry about "how long", the 20-30 chews will cover that. Whatever you're eating should take NO LESS THAN 20 minutes.
  4. There is a DFW group here at VST http://www.verticals...worth-sleevers/ it's mostly quiet, but there is a list available of all the support groups in the DFW area. I *HIGHLY* recommend getting involved in these so that you can get info and share experiences from veterans and new sleevers alike. Some of them are patient-led, some are doctor/hospital/med professional led. The list is here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/89017-dfw-area-weight-loss-surgery-support-groups-list/
  5. Post a typical day of what you're eating and let's see if anything can be tweaked.
  6. You lost an average of 4.5lbs a week and you're not happy with it? That is very good weight loss!
  7. Many people get their Syntrax samples from here: http://bjsbariatrics.com/product/synSamplePack.html Might be worth a look to see if they deliver to the UK.
  8. Not beating you up here, but the last thing you need 5 days out is soda crackers and sugar drinks unless your doctor has told you it is okay. For the first two weeks, I was on a full-liquid only plan which certainly didn't include those. I understand that it sucks right now but it will pass. Don't make it worse.

  10. It makes sense, but don't beat yourself up over it. Instead, be the light and the example that inspires people to strive in their journey. You would be surprised who has eyes on your success right now and how you influence their lives.
  11. I'm almost 4 months postop and I had to dial down the pressure on mine because of air being forced out the sides of my mouth. It was set at 14, I brought it down to 9. I don't know when a good time is to attempt a sleep study as I almost had to pay for the last one ($3000).
  12. It'll probably be okay, but tell your surgeon anyway just to be safe.
  13. "Makes sense"? I don't have to type a response because you perfectly said everything I was going to say!
  14. You really need to discuss this with your surgeon. I was crushing/splitting mine for a few days before i realized not all meds are meant to be crushed or split. Some are time-release and need to stay intact in order to release into your system properly.
  15. OMG, I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE! I started referring to it as my "you've been sitting too long" alarm. I don't have this issue standing, however.
  16. Yes BUT you cannot drink the entire RTD bottle and call it a meal because your body can only absorb so much protein at one time. When I was drinking them i'd do a half bottle at a time. Also gotta warn you that the RTDs have a funky aftertaste to them. I don't mind it but some people can't stand it. Don't buy a case of any flavor until you know for sure.
  17. Going forward they will ALL be small meals! Seriously tho, I've been doing 5 meals since surgery. I started out with them being 2.5 - 3 hours apart but found that to be too much so shortened it to 2 hours between meals.
  18. The responses are going to vary widely as different surgeons have different requirements. For insurance purposes, I was told I could stay the same weight or lose weight but not gain weight under any circumstances. Two-weeks prior to surgery was the liquid-only 2-week preop diet which consisted of Bariatric Advantage Protein shakes (that my surgeon required i buy from him) and sugar-free Jello or popcicles and low-sodium broth if I absolutely had to. The 24 hours before surgery i could have Clear liquids only (Isopure RTD). After surgery i was released immediately to full liquids, then soft foods, then most regular food (after 7 weeks). What my nut had me work on before surgery - do not drink with meals or for 30 minutes afterwards. This is harder than you think and the sooner you get into the habit the better. - chew each bite 20-30 times each. Also harder than it seems. - learn to eat meals protein first THEN veg THEN fruit THEN carb (if there's any room left - after surgery you'll be lucky to finish the protein and a bite of the veg) - if you're not exercising, start walking 10 minutes a day EVERY day and increase it until you are walking 8000 steps a day - stop drinking soda or anything carbonated completely - stop smoking if you smoke
  19. I asked these same questions at my last surgeon's visit. He said it was okay if I ended the day with low or negative calories because of exercise but to make sure I was getting in 80g-100g of Protein. He also said it was important to get protein within 30 mins of your workout.
  20. Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. For clarification, I didn't run anything - I came in 102 out of 102 participants with a time of 89 minutes because I walked. I got to spend a great time with people from my support group, wonderful memories, a t-shirt and got to keep my participant number, it's all I needed. But in the back of my mind, of course i wondered if I could run it and wondered how long it would actually take me. Story to be continued...
  21. Do the C25k if you believe it to be a worthy goal but I believe in the end you're jogging or running. For what it's worth, we all walked the 5K that the group and I did just this past weekend and at different paces (I came in at 102 out of 102 participants ).
  22. Congrats to you! And what better place to show off the new you than at the next Season's 52 support group meeting this Saturday at 1230p? (seriously, we're doing cool stuff - you need to come!) Congrats again!
