Im struggling preop diet
I am on day 9 of my two-week liquid-only preop diet. The first four days were awful (plus I had allergies to deal with) but I woke up on the 5th day and life didn't suck. I've always been able to deal with a growling stomach but it was the headaches and weakness that I couldn't handle - these were gone and I've been good since. The way I see it, we're the lucky ones. By the time we get to surgery, we'll be past the hungrys. I'd hate to be someone who was allowed to eat what I wanted until the last minute. On top of dealing with recovery from surgery, who needs dealing with not being able to eat all of a sudden. No thanks. My surgeon allowed me the occasional cup of low-sodium broth - this made a world of difference. I am not a fan of sweets and the shakes got old quick. Hang in there, it gets better!

Working out?
The treadmill is fine as soon as you can get to the gym. The elliptical might be okay. I'd definitely avoid the stairmaster and rowing until 4 to 6 weeks out.

Some kids understand when you tell them not to put the fork in the outlet, some kids have to find out for themselves. Some kids have to find out for themselves more than once.

Pre-op diet?
I'm on day 8 of my two-week preop diet. The first four days were miserable - in addition to fighting allergies, I had headaches, weakness, and all the other symptoms of being hungry. On the 5th day, I felt like normal again (with hunger pangs every now and then, but not severe at all). There are people who were allowed to eat anything they wanted up until the last minute before surgery. If you ask me, we're the lucky ones. Imagine waking up from major surgery and how recovery feels at first. Add to that all the symptoms I just described above - aint nobody got time for that! Get yourself some Isopure (and/or Syntrax Nectar) to supplement your Protein drinks, and/or some Yes whey (not New Whey) bullets. Lastly, get yourself some unflavored protein (Unjury makes this among others) so that you can add it to your clear and full liquids). You're gonna do great - hang in there and remember that many of us have been through the two-week diet, you have us to lean on!

barely followed my preop diet
Popeye's Fried chicken has been screaming at me almost the whole time I've been on this two-week liquid-only preop diet. I'm happy to hear your surgery went well but I know my luck.

Clear liquid day before surgery
I'll be there in a few days - hang in there, you're almost on the other side!

Low carb headache?
I'm on day 8 of my 2 week liquid diet - it's gonna suck for the first 3-4 days then you're gonna be amazed at how good you feel fueling yourself on less than you're used to. Liquid Tylenol helps with the headaches and body aches (don't go nuts with it) and if you feel like you can't hold out any longer get yourself a cup of low-sodium chicken broth and cut it with a half cup of water. It's amazing how something this simple will help! Keep something in mind - you going through this misery now lessens you having to go through it the first few days you're recovering after surgery. Imagine the people who ate what they wanted until the last minute and then had surgery. On top of dealing with the soreness and all that goes with recovery they have to deal with the headaches and misery from being hungry as well? No thanks! It gets better - hang in there!

Are you sure? Because if we're nothing else, we're opinionated.

I want something fried Dammit.
No, but it'll cost you another 30 minutes (or however much time it takes to burn off the calories) of cardio activity the next time you're at the gym. If you're far out enough to eat it without hurting yourself AND willing to pay the price above, have at it!

I cant get myself motivated to exersise
FANTASTIC! You're absolutely right - just take the first step and your mind will follow. I can't tell you how many times that very thing has gotten me to the gym. Keep doing it and after enough times you'll actually want to exercise and it'll be a pleasurable thing you look forward to. Well done!

I cant get myself motivated to exersise
You didn't think you'd be allowed to post this without a request for an update, did you? This 50-year-old 368lb geezer did the treadmill thing yesterday AND walked 3/4 mile around the neighborhood with the wife. What have you done exercise wise since your original post?

I have an embarassing question...
- I cant get myself motivated to exersise
If a 370 pound 50-year old geezer like me can drag his fat behind to the gym and do 25 minutes on the treadmill you can go outside and walk for 10 minutes. That's all you gotta do today, go outside and walk for 10 minutes.- Another Newbie!
Welcome! I'm on day 6 of my 2 week preop diet. I'm just now getting to the point where I'm not miserable most of the day - I have my moments. And I've learned to appreciate chicken broth.- To Each His Own.....Actress Mo'Nique Loses 80 lbs

You're gonna do great, hang in there!- New and I don't want to *Look So Old!*
I've thought about it. Many of the people I know do look older than they did when they were heavy, but to me, it's a small price to pay. An older but leaner me is going to look way better than a fat plump me not to mention the health benefits.- is this bad?
