  1. Yes you will be able to it. Please watch the entire video:
  2. My wife nagged encouraged me to do it, my daughter supports me but doesn't want me to have it, a close friend says it's barbaric (but she still supports me), and everyone else that knows has mostly been supportive. In reading people's stories on here, I quickly noticed a common theme: "I've been struggling with weight all of my life" is the the way most of them begin. I'm no different. I started my journey in January of this year. I've lost 34 pounds to date. I know I've got a workout plan and nutrition knowledge that obviously works. Why do I still want surgery? Because I've done this before SEVERAL times and each time I end up gaining it all back and then some. I'm tired of it.
  3. Welcome Amy, good to have you here!
  4. I'm not familiar with a sprint triathlon - what distances does this entail for each event?
  5. My doctor says that anything with caffeine is a no-no because it dehydrates you. Whatever you drink that has it doesn't count towards your Fluid intake. Preop, I'll just have my 64oz of Water AND my quadespresso! Let's see how tough I am after the surgery. (I'll crush and snort No-Doz if I have to - don't make me do it! )
  6. I am SO stealing this!
  7. Running a 3k. Then a 5k. I'll at least be doing the 3k by this time next year. On weekends, I happen to go to the gym around the time they are doing Zumba. I know, I know, it's mostly women but it's on my bucket list to try at least once. I want to be in better shape and smaller before I try it.
  8. Same here, but I've found it's better than just Water in most of the Protein drinks I've tried. 1% tastes a lot better to me.
  9. I usually use skim or 1% if skim is not available. The only shakes I've had that are okay with just water are the GNC Wheybolic Extreme 60 chocolate and the Syntrax Fruit and Iced Tea flavored powders.
  10. Welcome - good to have you here!
  11. What are you doing for exercise?
  12. At least for me, getting to the gym IS the battle! Once I'm moving, the more I move the better I feel. When I'm done, I'm so happy I went.
  13. Read the link in my signature "100 Reasons to Work Out Today". Tomorrow walk 10 minutes. The day after, walk 10 minutes. Do this every day. It doesn't have to be fast, it doesn't have to be at a gym (unless you want), but you have to do it every day. Get some music if you think it will help.
  14. Ask your doctor. PLEASE ask your doctor lol!
  15. Hey - no democrats in my thread.
  16. For anyone that's interested, this is a nasal pillows mask. This one is the Resmed Swift FX.
  17. Time for the VST infamous "No-Drinking-With-Meals" YouTube!
  18. I *HIGHLY* recommend nasal pillows over the full-face mask or nose cup. It made a world of difference to me. I hated being awakened in the middle of the night because of the squeak of a leak using the nose cup. I find that nasal pillows seal better and stay on no matter how much I move in my sleep.
  19. At my first NUT visit, she said "walk 10 minutes a day every day". The first few weeks were hell as I couldn't even stand for 10 minutes without my back aching. I plowed through it and found as it got easier my body wanted to go faster and faster. As johnlatte said, I too love being able to run for 20 minutes without having to stop to catch my breath. Sometimes it's a bear just to get to the gym but I find once I'm done I'm so happy I did it. I cover the treadmill LEDs and let the voice prompt on my heartrate monitor tell me when I'm done (it tells me every 5 minutes). Music: I sometimes run to a metronome but music is a lot more fun when I can find a song that is not too slow or too fast. And when I have time I'll do my own mixes at the speed I want them.
  20. Thanks for posting this! For future reference: http://www.sparkpeople.com/blog/blog.asp?post=100_reasons_you_should_work_out_today
  21. Welcome - good to have you here!
  22. What happens when you drink with meals
  23. GREAT advice here! The only thing I would add is to say try changing whatever you're doing for exercise. If you're a treadmill person, try the elliptical or the stairclimber if you can handle it until your stall breaks.
  24. For now (until I confirmation on the insurance) I have a 5/28 date!
