Hey June 25 Sleevers
I have a little soreness on my left side, but have not taken pain meds since day 2. I have been pretty good getting in my fluids and shakes , but ate scrambled eggs yesterday that sat like a brick in my tummy. I felt off all yesterday. Today was back on track and I kept to creamed soups and shakes . NUT told me to take it slow today after yesterday. I will try mushy food tomorrow again. I have lost 25 since surgery and lost 45 during pre op (6 months). Mind is still reeling from the tremendous lifestyle change.

Hey June 25 Sleevers
Just wondering how everyone is doing after 3 weeks? Feeling pretty good most times, still wondering how it will all play out. Have not found it easy! How's your intake, pain, weight loss, energy level?

Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
I have just finished my 3rd week post op. would I do this again? If I am being really honest I would have to say " I don't know". Although I have been doing pretty well, I am always worried about complications, am I getting enough protein, will I get dehydrated, am I being active enough, am I too active? I have anxiety over lots of things revolving around this surgery. If in the end if I have good results and a good quality of life, of course I will be thrilled. As for now this whole experience has been hard for me and a bit more than I bargained for. I had a starting BMI of 52, and have lost 23 lbs since surgery and lost 45 pre surgery. We shall see how the story ends! Hopefully I will live happily ever after!

Feeling kinda rough today
Had some scrambled eggs this morning and can't shake the lead feeling in my stomach. I have had more gurgles and felt full all day. I did call the doc and he said see how I am in the am. I am nervous now and of course that doesn't help. I have had some aches in the left side as well. Not pain, more like muscle soreness. This journey is not easy. Just when you think you have it all figured out!

PO Day 19
How far our are you? I will be so happy with 1 or 2 per week, but right now I will celebrate 1 per day!

Food seems to be going down too easy..
My magic potion for drinking all my fluids is V8 fusion light mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with water! Regular water gives me heartburn!

PO Day 19
Today I have managed to get in 40 grams of protein from my morning shake and the rest from food!!!!!!! I am thrilled and hopeful that I can keep it up so I don't have to suffer through 2 or 3 shakes a day. It was also easier to drink today. Hallelujah , there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Keep the faith!

11 days post op
I had the same thing yesterday. Felt like I pulled a muscle. I think as we heal and start to do more it can get sore. I woke up today and it was better. I'm 18 days PO.

Pre-op liquid diet: Always Required?
My surgeon required a very low carb diet 2 weeks prior to surgery. At 17 days PO, I can say I am REALLY REALLY REALLY glad I did not have to do 2 weeks of liquids before surgery. I am so over this liquid phase and totally sick to death of it that I cannot imagine having to have done it before surgery too!

Measuring by weight or volume?
Thanks, that's what I thought !

How fast do you drink your protein shakes?
Hammer... Enjoy it now cause post op is a whole different ball game!

How fast do you drink your protein shakes?
I used to use almond milk pre op, but now I want the extra 8 grams of protein that 1 cup of milk add. It took me 1 hour and 15 min to drink my 8 oz shake that was worth 40 grams protein. I feel like I have eaten a turkey dinner now! I know the shake passes through the sleeve fairly quickly, but after drinking it I ( even though I go slow) I feel so full for hours. Makes it hard to get in any water cause I feel so full.

How fast do you drink your protein shakes?
I am PO Day 17 and I was wondering how long it takes others to drink their shakes? I mix mine with 8 oz milk and feel like it takes me forever! Maybe I am being too conservative! Thoughts?

Measuring by weight or volume?
Should I measure my food intake by weight or volume?

Feel crummy in the AM
Isereno, thanks for your reply. I have been reading your menus in the nutrition section with great hopes for the future! I would be very likely to eat similar to you! It is nice as a new sleever to hear from a veteran!

Feel crummy in the AM
I am supposed to be on purée foods but I find it hard to get in the protein shakes and all the water. In during the day. I have no room for purée stuff! I called the dr and they said to take the purée slow, not a big deal at this point. Such a learning curve!!!

Feel crummy in the AM
So I am PO day 16 and I have found that it is really hard to get fluids in during the AM. It takes me a bit to feel good. I sometimes have a lump feeling in my throat that always subsides after I drink and eat a bit . Anyone else get a slow start? It is hard to get everything in during the day !

5 days post op-afraid it didnt work! Feeling TOO normal.
I also heard that a leak is caused in the OR.
-
Post-op liquids
I remind myself this period is temporary. One day at a time! Keep a list of the reasons you did this handy and refer to it. It helps me! I am 16 days PO.

Absorbing the change: 2 weeks post op....The journey begins
You are not alone!!! I am in my 3rd week post op and some days are worse than others. It is easier when I stay at home for meal times. Going to restaurants is torture! I just keep hoping it ges better in time!

Judging...
I am 2 weeks PO and had the exact same feelings as you did. This surgery is no joke and at this point I am still feeling a little like WTH did I do? I know the first 4-6 weeks are the hardest, I will reevaluate after that how I feel about the whole thing. Make sure you are ready to change your life. The early days are a breeze for some, and not so breezy for others. I am somewhere in between. I have lost 20lbs post op so far, but it is not easy! Not trying to scare anyone, rather go in with your eyes open. It has been comforting for me to know others had a tough start and ended up loving their new life.

6 weeks/ 8 weeks lost 30 lbs
I agree 100% vegasneon!! This is hard. I am sure it will be worth it in the end, but it is by far the hardest thing I have ever done .
