  1. I have BCBC/TX - my information will be submitted the first week of April - I pray I get my approval that quickly! Yea for you!
  2. FMLA is a federal law. You have to know you will be out for more than three days. You are allowed up to 12 weeks per year (or the equivalent in hours). Just because you are allowed that doesn't mean you get to take it. You get what your physician recommends. It can be adjusted later if necessary. Short term disability is different for each employer depending on the plan that is selected. Your benefits group should be able to tell you or call the company directly. You will have to apply for it as it is not automatic.
  3. I agree - keep calling until you get someone that will help you. They know the info - but customer service isn't always the priority....eventually you will get the right person on the phone to help you.....maybe a litte sniffle and tears will help! LOL
  4. hang in there. Is your BMI 40 or higher? That is a normal qualifier without the other issues. I calculated my BMI at 38 and was very concerned - when I went to my first appointment, it turns out I had shrunk (apparently that happens with age) and it threw me just over the 40 mark. you never know
  5. Call the 1-800 number on your card and they should be able to tell you if it is a covered service and what requirements are needed for it to be covered. They will need the group number and stuff off your card. Let me know what you find out
  6. shots are easy and you can self administer if the doctor prescribes it that way
  7. I know - not smoking is already changing my health. Walking is easier. I'm not losing my breathe as quickly. Now that said - everyday due recent events I have gotten REALLY pissed off about not smoking. I get through it but I'm not happy about it. I hope this passes too.
  8. Well I told them and in the end they were supportive and happy that I am doing this for myself. They are both extremely healthy but I got the traits of my aunt and once I made it clear that was not the life I wanted for myself they saw my future and backed my 100% Plus not I gets pampering and homemade broth! Hmmmm
  9. I need to get your motivation to exercise! Great job
  10. Amen Tigerbelle! To stay when just because the were with you when you were fat sounds like an obligation. Turn it around - maybe he stayed w someone who was fat because he thought they'd put up with his crap because that was the best they could do. To the original poster - I am not saying this was your situation. I believe in trying, setting agrees upon expectations. Sounds like you tried and he didn't honor his part of the bargain. Now you decide what is best for you and your children.
  11. I am worried about the same thing....dinner is when we sit and talk about our day, etc. that's just gonna have to change for a couple of weeks.
  12. Now I am scared - I was going to tell my parents this weekend.....my twin sister knows and is incredibly supportive - maybe I will make her go with me!
  13. Could you put it with cold water and then add to hot foods? Just curious if this would work - kinda like cornstarch lol
  14. six jobs in seven years....no matter how you look at it - there is a problem....and the reality is not you or his job will ever make him happy. Only he can do that.....
  15. Although people eat it - you would probably recognize it better as garish on a plate or the green/purple stuff they use to fill in all the spaces between containers on a salad bar! Looks purrrty that way.
  16. I have been afraid to try this. Does it really not have any flavor to it? Does it leave a film or have a weird texture?
  17. Thanks everyone! This is all really great advice
  18. Ps. I have quit smoking which I struggle with everyday. At this point know I have to take a blood test in three weeks is what is keeping me "sober" so to speak.
  19. Hi everyone. My story is pretty much the same. I was at my smallest in college as the weight seemed to drop away - problem was I didn't maintain it. Through my 30s I stayed within 20 lbs 170-190. I am now 44 (almost 45) and three years ago my life changed directions in a way I never dreamed. We got custody of my husbands grandson - a year later his half sister. I became instant mommy overnight to toddlers and all the work I did for myself went out the window with my time and money! I have managed to gain 50 lbs and am absolutely miserable. The 230 is my highest weight. My oldest started kindergarten this year and I was sad when I realized I could not keep up. I adore these children they are an amazing blessing I never imagined - but they need me here.....and healthy. I'm am telling a small group of good friends and family but that's it. It's not anyone else's business. My biggest fear........failure. I'm in Texas. Where are y'all?
  20. Do you mind me asking what your husbands concerns are? Has communicated them to you?
  21. I know the feeling. I have completed all the necessary steps - I have my final nutritional appointment on 4/1 and the surgeon appointment 4/3 - from there it is just approval and surgery date.....going awfully fast and slow all at the same time. I thought about the emotional loss of food but I had to quit smoking and that was a lot harder - now I may have a bite of something that isn't healthy but I don't have a desire to binge....
