Spacedust laid it out pretty well, so I'll give you my thought process about having the sleeve:
Like you, I tried many eating programs but I either gained all the weight back or lost so slowly and was SO hungry, I couldn't stick with it.
I also considered the band at first but I know myself and was pretty sure I would get sick and tired of going to the dr for fills and adjustments. I like that the sleeve is permanent and hunger is greatly reduced. I wanted a lifetime solution that depended only on me.
I don't mind taking supplements as I was already pretty big on them.
I had to think about and research this surgery for several months before I was sure enough to set a surgery date. So don't worry that you feel overwhelmed and unsure - keep learning and asking questions.
I am so happy with my sleeve! I am getting exactly the results I wanted and expected - well maybe better
    Best of luck!

I doubt you'll find many, if anyone, on this site who thinks the band is a better option - too many of the people here are having band to sleeve revisions because the band isn't doing the job or is causing problems in the long run.
Could you stretch your sleeve? Yes, of course, if you constantly push your sleeve past its limit it's possible to stretch it. The good news is that it isn't as easy or quick to stretch as the pouches you get from a band or from a gastric bypass. The reason is that the stretchiest part of the stomach, the fundus, is removed during a sleeve surgery, but is part of the pouch created for either the band or the gastric bypass. Your sleeve WILL relax to some degree as you get further out, as well. It will never be as big as it was before, but you may find you go from a sleeve that holds 1/4-1/2 cup to a sleeve that holds 1.5 cups, perhaps, which is still a pretty small amount of food!
You should take supplements for life - although the sleeve isn't a malabsorptive procedure like the gastric bypass, it still impacts your ability to get all your nutrition needs via food because the volume of food you can eat is so much smaller. Some do manage to get all their nutrition needs from food, but it requires the kind of focused planning that most of us would find difficult to do in the long run.
As far as risks, yes., there are risks. You can develop a leak, which can be a life-threatening situation. Like other surgeries, there are infections possible. You could develop a stricture, which is a sort of blockage that makes it difficult for food to move through your system and may require additional procedures. There are other risks that your surgeon will make sure you're aware of and sign off on before you will get the surgery. The good news is that the risk factor is pretty low. I don't remember the exact numbers right now, but you have a better chance of dying in a car wreck than dying from this surgery, for example. If you do a search for sleeve gastrectomy on the web, you'll find more information than you know what to do with about the surgery and its risks, plus YouTube videos of the surgery itself if you really want to know!
I'm six days out right now. No regrets for me so far. It's not uncommon to feel a little regret in the first few weeks and months, but the majority of people seem to decide it was worth it in the long run.
Good luck on your decision-making process!

Hey all. Just wanted to touch base. I'm closing in on the century club!!! 12 lbs shy of 100 lbs as of last Saturday.
Oh and my heart is staying in rhythm and I broke up with my cpap. I haven't used it for awhile but officially packed it away yesterday!!!!
Adjusting to the sleeved life is a worthwhile adventure! :-D

I'm still calling bs on this topic but in a different way:
BS, (see how your screen name lends itself to this conclusion?), if you REALLY intended to help others and not just draw a lot of attention to yourself (very successfully!) or get back at the doctor, you would have a: FIRST reported the behaviour to the head surgeon and the coordinating company and b:named the dr in the very first post instead of playing coy.
You, my dear, have watched too many telenovelas.........

And let me say that Dr Garcia and his team are great at performing weight loss surgeries. when we choose a surgeon for such an invasive procedure, what's important is his surgical competency. I would recommend him without hesitation. If you choose to use him you will be in good hands.

The law of defamation protects a person's reputation and good name against communications that are false and derogatory. Defamation consists of two torts: libel and slander. Libel consists of any defamation that can be seen, most typically in writing. Slander consists of an oral defamatory communications. The elements of libel and slander are nearly identical to one another.
Specific requirements that a plaintiff must prove in order to recover in a defamation action differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Under the Restatement (Second) of Torts, which is drafted by the American Law Institute and has been influential among state courts, a plaintiff must prove four elements.
First, the plaintiff must prove that the defendant made a false and defamatory statement concerning the plaintiff.
Second, the plaintiff must prove that the defendant made an unprivileged publication to a third party.
Third, the plaintiff must prove that the publisher acted at least negligently in publishing the communication.
Fourth, in some cases, the plaintiff must prove special damages.

With this being said BS has placed herself and others in a very difficult spot. SHE (either willingly or thru coercion) has OPENLY stated that SHE lied. Basically admitting libel!! If in fact what she said was 100% truth, the way that she went about expressing the truth makes her actions questionable, especially when she turned around and recanted her story. People have taken what she has said and made the assumptions that the man could be capable of "rape and molestation of a pt while under anesthesia."
If indeed he is guilty of sleeping with patients, in the United States he may be deemed guilty of moral turpitude; however, if what the OP has accused him of is untrue, in the United States he would be entitled to punitive damages (which wouldn't be difficult to recover since she's admitted she "lied".
Oh my, the drama never ends here. I suggest that you all let sleeping dogs lie and "back away from the fire".
Truth or untruth, in the end we ALL must answer to a higher power who is ALL knowing. So if it seems as though he's "getting away" with things, he won't be. And if the OP is indeed "lying" then SHE will have to be held accountable on THAT day.

I would take "rankings" from MBC with a grain of salt. There is fierce competition between the coordinating companies and sometimes less than honorable tactics are used. Especially when a dr leaves a company and goes with another or strikes out on his own.
Give more points to patients that have actually used the surgeon. Dr. R-K gets very high marks from his patients so that should count for a lot more. Search more recent posts on this forum for the current information on how to book with him.

This is all hearsay. Since there was no evidence provided and the OP choose to retract her claims those that are considering Dr. Garcia should not not hold this story against him. He is not responsible for what his staff do off the clock anyway. This post could be consider slander. Lawsuits could be filed. Whether its true or not doesn't matter since the accuser choose to back track. Unless your willing to see your accusations to the end think of possible consequences. Too bad that a good surgeon will mostly likely loose business over this.

And also like I said in my post, Fiancé was at one time my boss. We are happy and in love. I did not feel like I was taken advantage of, nor did he use his authority to persuade me to have sex with him. I don't think that is the issue with the OP either. It was a bad choice she made and now it's time for her to take action ( by contacting the company)and get over it.
Now if she said no and he was still trying to persuade her, then that's a different story. Because then she would have done it out of guilt, and that's just plain wrong

I didn't bother reading the entire thread but what I gather is you were incapable of keeping your legs closed and are pissed off you got played by some guy. Little advice, don't sleep with guys you hardly know and then get upset when he doesn't stick around.
It would be one thing to come on here and tell people to watch out if this guy forced you to have sex with him, but he didn't. I'm sure this isn't the first time some guy has done this and probably won't be the last if you so freely give it up. You willingly slept with him, he turned out to be the typical jerkoff guy who just wants sex from girls. Move along and keep your cooter in your pants until you are in a committed relationship or don't get pissed when all a guy wants from you is sex.
