Too fun-eee... Lying= "Did you have weight loss surgery" and you answer "no. Not lying= "What have you done to lose weight?" and you answer "I exercise, eat protein first and have cut way back on carbs and fat." If someone is considering weight loss options, They don't have to look. Dry far to get info in surgical options. I'm not sleeved yet, but if someone asks me point blank if I had surgery, my response will be, "Wow, that's a very personal question." Kinda like when waitresses ask me if I had IVF. yes, that has happened more than once. (two mom family with 4 little boys)

But the flu shot protects against influenza, a respiratory virus. Not a stomach bug. Just FYI.

Having really concentrated urine can mimick both a UTI and a yeast infection. Usually I have my patients double up on their water until when you pee it looks like water. But it's hard to get in that much after you're sleeved, I imagine.

Alma, coordinator for Dr Garcia, said I had to be San Diego by noon for same day surgery. I think I get in at 10-something and am getting sleeved the same day.

Yeah, same here. I said I wanted March 29 and thats what I go.

Well, for what it's worth, I'm a BMI of 34.5, 50 years old and do not have comorbidities that qualified me through my insurance company. I refused to gain weight to qualify in the US for the self-pay option. I have some osteoarthritis but nothing else. Oh,and I have 4 little boys ages1, 2, 5&7 and am a stay at home mom. Like you I've lost lots many times and regained. So I figured that if I didn't do something soon I wouldn't be around to meet my grand kids. I'm schedule March 29 and can't wait. But the thing about an elective surgery is that you elect to have it when the time is right. As far as it being right for you, that's between you and your doctor. And be able to make a decision with no waffling. Best of luck to you in making yor decision. Deborah

Actually, hydrocodone and oxycodone do not contain codeine, although they are in the same drug class. (I'm a prescriber). But I agree that your doctor will come up with options that will work for you. Nobody wants you to be in too much pain!

How are you doing today, Amytug? I'm a midwife and former OR nurse. I've seen and assisted on HUNDREDS of surgeries...ortho, GYN, plastics, abdominal and heart surgeries, etc. But when I had my only surgery to take out my gall bladder, I was a total MESS! It was embarrassing....trying to be brave, tears rolling down my cheeks, shaking uncontrollably, you get the idea. They gave me 3 doses of Versed and i still remember the conversation I had with the surgeon about her secret to making fantastic Greek green Beans. ( versed is supposed to make you forget most everything) Bottom line is take your Ativan and when you get there and are still anxious, ask for something else. Going into surgery freaking out isn't a great idea. Let us know how you are doing. Deborah P.S. the secret is using Greek oregano, not Italian

If you are allergic to Percocet (oxycodone) you could try Vicodin (hydrocodone). Same for if someone has a codeine allergy.

A couple of things I'm going to try to remember after my surgery. #1- Chocolate cake, hot wings, anything will taste the same next year as it does now. #2- after I get to goal weight I can try a bit ofI anything. One of the members here said that the difference is that one spoonful will be just as filling as 3 bowls are now!

Scsleever thanks for the update. Happy to hear that you are doing so well. It really helps to hear stories like yours when we are heading off to the same surgeon . And great that you are able to connect with some other folks there.

Krissj, Just try to remember that the surgeons give us a preop diet because it makes for a safer surgery, not just to make us miserable. If it weren't an elective procedure we would still have a preop diet. Hand in there!

I paid $24 at Walmart.

One of my greatest fears is getting dehydrated after surgery. We are supposed to drink 64 oz/day, but I don't come close even now. I challenge everyone to start drinking 64 oz of Water a day BEFORE surgery And no, Protein drinks don't count towards the total. Good luck!

Mine is that I won't be able to keep up on fluids and get dehydrated.

I was told it was 7 days for me because I have a lower BMI (35). But I would definately check with your doctor. (using Dr Garcia)

Congrats you guys. There's another gal here having her surgery with the same surgeon on the same day and even though we've never met it's till comforting.
