Your rectus muscles go up and down over your abdomen and are held together by thick tissue. Think of gristle on a slab of ribs. In a C/S we cut through this tough tissue, not the muscle, and pull the muscles apart. After the baby is out they hold that tissue back together with only a few stitches. In a tummy tuck they pull those muscles back together tighter, giving you more of a waist. Does that help?

Just to clarify....they don't cut your muscles in a C/S, but they spread them apart in the middle Okay, so if its an emergency its more like YANKING them apart But you have a 4-7 inch incision instead of a bunch of 1 inch w the sleeve. And that uterus is continuously cramping down afterward, too I haven't had either, but I'm a nurse midwife and have assisted on hundreds of C/S.

In in the same boat as you. I read that the problem with NSAIDs in tablet form is that they land in pretty much the same place in your stomach every time since its so small after surgery. I got a script for Vicodin to get me through to surgery time, then I'll transition to liquid Motrin indefinitely.

Re: caffeine headache... I plan on withdrawing from caffeine in the 4 days before the preop diet and when I can have NSAIDs anymore. I can't do it without my Motrin!

Well, you can wear the same size clothing while you are in 2-3 sizes yourself. I lost tons of weight on medifast....went from size 24 to 12 in 5 months. I bought only 2 pairs of pants at a time since I was in them for less than a month. Wore knit shirts. So medifast is great to get the weight off, and here I again again. Hoping the sleeve will help get it off for good!

KatinFl....I'm a big spreadsheet person too. I'm scheduled for march 29 and have a spreadsheet telling me when to stop caffeine, stop taking Motrin, start preop diet, take laxative and when to start clears...oh, and I'm already packed, which is totally not like me

Eek....how many days will you have missed? Need to use a backup method until you get your period if you miss 2 days.

I read in Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies that there is a "magic window of opportunity" for weight loss that tapers off after the first year. So I'm going to be compliant like gangbusters until I get to goal. Well, I say that now, anyway. Surgery scheduled for March 29. Deborah

What's you surgeon's guidelines? I'm at 34.5 Bmi but dr Garcia will do it if you are higher than 28

I'm scheduled March 29th and am a SAHM of 4 boys, 1,2,5&7 with the littlest two in diapers. I'm doing the surgery in Mexico and am lucky that they will keep me there 4 nights (fly out Friday w same day surgery, fly back Tuesday). As opposed to being discharged the next day for surgery here. It's a good thing, because my partner can only take off work those days. I haven't let anyone know about the surgery, and we don't have any family here anyways. But I was able to arrange a gal to come for all day the first day I'm home (post op day 5) and then I'm on my own. Planning on making up a week's worth of meals in advance. Basically, I'm really nervous about the recovery with kids, too. I think the abdominal binder is a good idea. Best of luck to you.

March 29 Dr Fernando Garcia Tijuana Hospital MiDoctor I chose Dr. Garcia because you remain under his care for 4 nights after your surgery, either 3 nights in hospital and 1 night in hotel or 2 and 2. I understand that many surgeons consider this an outpatient procedure, but I like that there will be professionals taking care of me through the hardest part of my recovery.

devonmae...I only started seriously researching my options a couple of weeks ago. But I started looking for before/after stories and I am convinced this is for me. I also have 4 kids...they are still little and I can't really go outside and play with them. I don't want them to grow up and be sad that I couldn't be physical with them. So anyway, a nice gal on this forum private messaged me and told be about Dr. Garcia and passed on some advice about other surgeons, and long story short, I've made my flight and downpayment and am scheduled for surgery March 29. I'm like you....once I decide I want to do something there's no turning back!

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've had abdominal surgery before. I can't believe you are home....please stay up on your pain meds. Take them scheduled even if you don't think you need it. Do you have any GasX strips? I've read that they can really help. And make yourself get out of bed and walk. Breathe...hang in there. Do you have a heating pad or hot water bottle for your tummy?
