Any sleever with lupus on here?
I have Lupus, and actually had a revision from Lap-Band to the Sleeve April 24th. The hardest part was being off of my anit-inflammatory pre-op but since I've been losing, honestly I feel so much better. Joints aren't as stiff, muscles don't ache all the time. Doc thinks the lap-band may have been contributing to my flares, body's response to the foreign body and all. So far, so good

Im scared/ sorry TMI
Agree with everyone here, I was worried about the same thing pre-op but when I spoke to the pre-op nurse she said no need to worry, would have to use a pad....gross, and if you were unable to care for your hygeine needs immediately post-op that the nurses are used to it and would "take care" of it for you...double gross. Thank the lord, my period came the week before surgery so I didn't have to deal with any of it, but was comforting to know that they were prepared if needed. Good Luck!

NSV--I Shopped In My Closet Today!
I'm three weeks out today, down 25 pounds, and even though I was leary I decided to try on some jeans today that haven't fit in two years...THEY FIT!!!!! I could button them! A little snug, but three weeks ago I never thought I would fit in them again. Too soon to declare myself a success, but I'm definately in the right lane

6 months post-revision update
Congratulations. So glad to be able to read your post today. I'm 21 days post-revision and so far I'm doing well, losing, and not hungry all the time. Just concerned for long term success. Always glad to read success stories. Great motivation!

Pre-op Diet With Revision?
I had a liquid protein diet for 5 days pre-op for my revision.

Just got home from the hospital.
I agree, I'm only two weeks out but three weeks since I started my pre-op, so I was going crazy for a while then I realized last nite at a birthday party that I'm not dying of cravings anymore. I'm sure I'll have moments, but I'm settling into my new normal. Hang in there!

How much time off before returning to work?
I'm two weeks out and feel ready to return but found out that I have a 10 pound lifting restriction for another two weeks, job won't let me come back with restrictions so I'll be off for an entire month.

How does the pain differ from lapband to sleeve?
In my experience the pain was worse with the revision. Doc chalked it up to having to go through scar tissue. Was on pain meds for three days, but it definately wasn't unbearable, just uncomfy. Nausea was my biggest problem. Good Luck!

Jumping the Gun
I was throwing up in the hospital and it freaked me out that I was gonna bust something, my surgeon specifically said it was OK, he stapled and sewed over the incision. It hurt like hell, but he said I didn't hurt anything.

Surgery Monday May 6th - anxious and nervous!
Good luck to both of you. Try to relax, it's nerve wracking but you've worked long and hard to get to this point. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Surgery Questions
I understand your dad's objections, my family didnt want me to do it either. But they can't make the decision it is up to you. The nausea and vomiting were the first two days for me. Some don't have it at all. Just being honest I definitely questioned my decision the first few days when everyone said they were feeling great . And the post-op diet so far sucks, but I think this is gonna work...a few bites and I'm full, not always feeling hungry. I'm only one week out but feel like I made the right decision. Good luck!

Can't wait for the port to be gone, gone, gone!
I'm 9 days out and the bump is there, that's where the biggest incision is, and it feels like scar tissue underneath, but I'm hoping it will fade away soon. My husband is so glad it's gone, he said it felt weird.

What do I say to get insurance to cover revision when band hasn't slipped?
My doc put dysphagia (trouble swallowing). Saw it on the chart.

Surgery Questions
I'm a revision from a band and still did not have a drain. Stayed in the hospital two nites, they were going to discharge me after one but I really wasn't up to it, so I stayed an extra day and felt soooo much better leaving the second day. Even with that driving home an hour a day about 48 hours after surgery was not a pleasant experience. I was just uncomfortable and kinda nauseous, but it may have been because of the narcotics or the anethesia which always make me uneasy. The worst part of the experience for me was the nausea, and the foley catheter (urinary catheter) not sure if everyone uses them but they kept mine in for 24 hours to monitor my output, and it SUCKED it was uncomfortable and just made me feel like I had to pee. I second the bring a pillow for the ride home, actually my hubbie brought my pillow into the hospital for me and it instantly comforted me, and I fell asleep.

A Week Ago Today...
I'm a week out also, and I really don't have any pain. I've been a lot more tired the past two days, and the locations on my stomach where they gave me heparin shots give me a twinge every once in awhile, but have not needed any pain. Maybe you should call your doc just to be sure.

Tomorrow is my sleeve day and the first day of emotional healing..
Thanks all, day 5 went quite well...no pain or nausea meds today at all. So I feel pretty great over all, 98% normal. A little weak in the legs climbing stairs, but that's to be expected. Trying to get all the fluid and protein in, and am so glad that the first 48+hours is now behind me. Wishing you well Victoria, the bad is pretty darn bad, but thankfully for me it didn't last long.

What to Expect After Surgery
Jello sugar free jello, SF popsicles, Nectar fuzzy navel protein, chicken soup broth, lotsa water, crystal light, sleepy time tea, Propel fitness water, really thin cream of wheat, Designer Whey protein shakes. The hot tea and soup broth make you feel more satisfied then cold stuff in my opinion.

Post op Day 4
Thanks for the insight. Swelling is down today. Headache could be a combination of caffeine, withdrawl, anethesia and allergies. It comes and goes so I'm going to mention it at my 1 week postop.

Post op Day 4
Feeling much better then the past few days, just tired. One question I have is that my face is all puffy and I have a blazing headache. I know I'm full of fluid cause my weight has not gone down at all. But I'm hydrating and urinating as recommended but wonder if this is "normal", or should I call the doc? Like I said other then the headache and puffiness I feel pretty good.

Tomorrow is my sleeve day and the first day of emotional healing..
I've been much more comfortable since I got home. A little off this morning, but I think putting all the medicines (chemicals) in my stomach without any food in there wasn't such a good idea. Slept great last nite, trying to stay on top of the pain and nausea meds. I don't know if I don't understand gas pain, but I don't think I've really had any. I'm having trouble deciding whats pain vs. whats nausea vs. whats gas. I have put on 15 pounds since surgery,, I'm sure it was all the fluids they were pumping into me. But wait...i should be skinny by now, shouldn't I?? LOL joking. Hope your feeling better today.

Tomorrow is my sleeve day and the first day of emotional healing..
Cat...how did are you doing?? First two days were pretty rough for me. Stayed in the hospital 2 nites, cause the nausea and vomiting were terrible. I think the pain meds were making me sick. The doc said that since I was had the band out and the sleeve done all in the same day it made the surgery a little worse then if I was a virgin sleever. F-in band...good riddance Today I came home, and the ride sucked, I live about an hour from the hospital. But now I'm home, showered, comfortable and content. Was thinking about you and hoping that you had an easier time then I. Let me know how u r.
