  1. My doctor's office said that for the first three months do chewable and then try whole. I use Celebrate multi-complete Forest berry flavor and like them alot.
  2. Erp, I hope you make your goal of 140 for your 1st surgiversary. That is also my goal weight. As we get closer to goal the harder it is to get it off. Seems to be permanently attached. I am not a runner but wish you well on your two 5Ks. I too hope to have plastics later. Will wait to take inventory at the end and see what needs fixing and what the budget can afford. Thank you for posting and I look forward to your progress in 2014.
  3. Gamegirl, please come back with your serious ones, but I do love the pic.
  4. SS, Those are admirable goals. With your personality and drive, I have no doubt you will be successful. Watch out 2014 for the new and improved Southern Soul.
  5. Ktrebie, How do you plan to get your 16 pounds off?
  6. Cescelli, I had my band in 2007 done by Dr. Wagner a partner with Dr. Snow from HOAB. Congrats on your great loss.
  7. RJ, as you know sometimes even when you plan, it just doesn't happen that way. I agree planning is a big part of success. You have to have the right foods in place, plan menus, exercise. If you don't plan you can easily get waylaid and fall into old habits. Love your post. Everyone is human and we do things every day that we thought we would never do...We make mistakes! We chose poorly and pay for our mistakes by either beating ourselves up over it or denying the entire incident.. Every day brings new challenges and things learned about ourselves and this life long change we are all making...Every day!!! Every single day!!!! So worth it though, because you may just learn somethings about yourself that can change your life for the better and help that inner you to shine true.....

  11. Sleevethefatbehind, Love your profile name. I had a slipped band and now have the sleeve.
  12. Endless80, watch the ice cream because it is a slider you could fall since it's frozen. I know, don't quit your day job.
  13. First off, I think different people use different terms. It could be regional or cultural and most times know what they mean. The following definition of slip is from dictionary.com Slip: move, flow, pass, or go smoothly or easily; glide; slide: to slide suddenly or involuntarily; to lose one's foothold, as on a smooth surface: to move, slide, or start gradually from a place or position: to slide out of or become disengaged from a fastening, the grasp, etc.: to pass without having been acted upon or used; be lost; get away: . So I think slip could be appropriate when someone eats something they shouldn't because it can lead to slider foods and it could be an opportunity that was lost and slipped away. You do need to be honest with yourself. If you aren't you are the only person you are cheating. Time after time it has been shown that when you write down or log what you are eating you tend to be much more successful. It keeps you aware, accountable and focused. It also lets you get back on track more quickly if you start to stray. Peggy, you said , "Here's a good question, if using a food log is too hard...is it because you are afraid of being honest about what you are really eating?" If a person does use a food log and logs the slips how would that be interpreted?
  14. Tink, I have no doubt you will reach your goal. You have a good plan in place to get there and have been so successful so far.
  15. I bought some cuddle duds microfleece and have to say I am disappointed in them. I am still cold. Maybe I didn't buy the right kind. I did get these on Amazon and love them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GVM0HWM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You do need to order a size larger than what you wear, which when you're trying to lose weight isn't what we want to do.
  16. Can't you ground him or put him on time out? When he does visit do you at least get frequent flyer miles? LOL
  17. It will happen, follow the plan. You may still be carrying some Water weight from all the IVs and fluids you received in the hospital. Also if you start off weighing less the weight comes off slowly. Here is a URL that may help you put your loss into perspective, http://bea.amaya.com/PercentEWL.html. This site shows the percentage of excess weight loss you have lost When you compare yourself to others it often times is not a realistic benchmark. I am losing slower than others but expected it to be that way due to several factors. I am okay with that. It's not a race and I will get to my goal.
  18. NothingUpMySleeve, How far are you out from your surgery? I am 9 weeks now and remember being very tired. I had a lot of energy the first week after surgery, had band removed ad sleeve performed, then had another surgery 10 days later. I attribute a lot of my tiredness to this and then getting a pretty nasty cold 3 weeks post op. The tiredness let me at a little over one month post-op. I hope you do post updates down the road stating you no longer regret the surgery since there is not an undo afterwards. Good luck with your weight loss journey.
  19. Angel, Glad to hear your goal. We can help each other with our exercise goals and cheer everyone on toward their goals.
  20. Here is one thread about members being cold. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/290470-anyone-else-cold-all-the-time/page-2#entry3298144 There are others out there as well.
  21. SMART is used in many goal setting scenarios. Every year we have to set department and personal goals at work, then they are submitted to management and approved. Throughout the year we track progress throughout the year. Happy to say I met all my goals this year for work at 100%. Professor Edwin Locke is credited with developing the SMART system.
  22. I have UHC and my deductible was $500 and maximum out of pocket was $1,000. Any services i had performed at the hospital I paid the amount they estimated it would cost prior to the procedure. This included EGD and motility study. The hospital called me to let me know what my estimated charges would be for the surgery. I paid that on the morning of the surgery during the admission process. Any other procedures I had before I met my deductible had to be paid. I also incurred co-pays for doctor visits and prescriptions even though I had met my deductible. The best thing you can do is check with your surgeon's office and the hospital where your surgery is occurring so you are familiar with their financial procedures..
  23. Arts, please keep Skippy under control, he is starting to visit and talk to me too.
  24. I am from St. Louis and now 9 weeks out. Down 27 pounds.
  25. In the past months, the next month's thread is set up prior to the current month's end.
