What my husband says about me & my sleeve
This is such an uplifting thread. Love it. So refreshing and being a true romantic at heart just tugs at my heart strings.

What will you be leaving behind in 2013?
I will leave behind one of the two MBAs I earned. I have the real degree which I will keep since I am still paying for it via student loans and the other I didn't plan on getting. Two degrees for one price. It came along for the ride due to not exercising and watching what I ate. It is My Big A*s. Still paying for this one too but the cost is diminishing. Education is so expensive. i also am leaving behind my doubts that I will truly reach my goal this year. I have a new lifestyle and a functioning tool to get me there. Crappy eating habits are becoming a distant memory as new ones replace them.

Hit my goal... feeling slightly underwhelmed ...
Indigo, Congratulations on reaching goal. Like you said now the work is to maintain it. I know when I reach goal l will be happy, but guarded because it is only the beginning and there will be work to stay in that range. I think to myself what will happen when I get there, but know it will be more of the same lifestyle. No one walking down the street will rush up and say "you're at goal". However, I will know it and the knowledge will add a smile to my face, making others wonder what I am up to , and give me more confidence in other areas of my life.

Where are the 50s ???
Congrats Mitz and Happy New Year. I don't know if could handle a scale that talked to me. I have a love hate relationship with the scale, or maybe passive aggressive. It can be my friend and my worst enemy in the same week. Maybe weighing once a week would help with the up down trends.

How are YOU ringing in the new year?
Spent the evening with my daughter-in-law, husband and grand children. We played some games and then read bedtime stories to the kids. Behaved myself food wise and proud of it.

What my husband says about me & my sleeve
McButtterpants, you are truly fortunate to have such a supportive spouse and he writes well. I really enjoyed reading this thread and how others met their spouse. Comfy_blue, there was a forum started last week for family members. Here is the link to it: http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1016-family-and-friends-new/

Incissions!
Isn't that how it normally works? Everything fine when you see that doctor and then bam. Seems to happen to me with my car. Take it to the shop because it's making a noise, they can't find it, you drive away and it happens a block later. Please call them to see what they say. Hopefully they are open since it's New Year's Eve. Good luck.

bruises
I had some bruises from surgery. They were due to where I received shots of medicine to prevent blood clots. When you get these shots, it thins your blood and makes bruising a lot easier to occur. Hopefully, that is why you have them. Although when my four year old granddaughter sleeps with me and not her own bed, she moves a lot and has kicked me.

Incissions!
UnbLivable, If I were in your shoes, I would be in contact with my doctor's office. Possibly you could take a picture and send it to them via email if your doctor is not nearby. I am 9 weeks out. The only incision I had that was still oozing when I left the hospital was where my drain had been. Good luck to you. I hope it stops soon.

taste buds changing?
For me I noticed two changes and one has disappeared and the other seems to have diminished. The first was Water. I used to enjoy plain water but after surgery I could not stand the taste. I had to add koolaid drops or crystal light to be able to drink it. Now I enjoy plain water again. The other was that some things seemed extremely sweet to me but now it does not seem as bad.

6 Week Post OP Before & After Pics
Unbe, You look great. Are you sure it's you in the third set since no tat is visible in the post-op picture? Just kidding. Keep up the great work.

Very embarrassed but question about Urinary incontinence
I have seen others say it gets better after surgery. I had TVT surgery to fix the problem after my sleeve surgery. I don't think mine would have improved with weight loss. You can check with your ob/gyn or urologist. They can do a test to see how bad the problem is. I can say with the cold and cough I have had, it is working 100%.

tell me that its ok that I've only lost 33 lbs in 3 months
It's okay. If you take 33 and divide it by 13 for the number of weeks in 3 months, it averages 2.5 pounds a week. You are losing and showing progress. Any loss is a loss and not a gain. Too often people want to rush the process. I have heard that if you lose slower it can help your skin to adapt to your new body. Not sure if it's true or not. What's going to happen at the end when you reach goals is you will still have to watch what you eat to maintain the weight. Enjoy the ride along the way. We didn't put it on overnight so it won't come off overnight. When people want it to happen fast, reminds me of little kids in the car when you're going on a long trip saying, "are we there yet?"

How long before you can go back to work after VSG?
The answer is it depends. You will find that answer throughout the forum regarding pre and post-op diets and how long off work. A lot depends on the type of job you have. If you are a nurse and lift patients or a very physical job, it will likely be longer than a person who has a desk job. I was off a week, had a different surgery the following Monday and worked from home half days the remainder of the second wee. I returned to work full time the following week.

New heartburn - almost 6 mths post op
Is your coffee caffeinated? My doc's office says caffeine can cause acid and gerd. I take Dexilant for heartburn. I had it very bad with my lapband for over three years. My doctor has you take a PPI for 6 months post op and then if you no longer have problems, he discontinues it. So far since my sleeve I have had no problems.

Oh GREAT!
RJ, I can one up you on this one. I had a biopsy on my uterus over 5 years ago with the diagnosis of post menopausal. In October I had my sleeve surgery and then early November had TVT surgery and started spotting for a few days. Three weeks after the second surgery I spotted for three plus weeks. I felt like it was an April Fool's joke that my periods had stopped. Arts, For me at least the hot flashes only come after exercise, at night when asleep or if I have a glass of wine. (That must be Skippy talking about wine).
