    Before and After Pics

This is me before and after 4 months post op. I weighed 341 on the day of surgery and I am now weighing 261. I went from size 50 jeans to 38 jeans. Getting ready to go to 36's hopefully. One thing I have noticed that even though Ihave had 2 stalls, the inches continue to come off. I have never felt better in years. I am so thankful that I had this surgery.

    July sleevers please check in..

I was sleeved on the same day as you. I weighed in at 341 on the day of surgery and I weighed myself this morning at 261. I have been stalled (again) for the last week or so. I guess it is finally time for me to get out and walk. I really don't like exercise but it looks like I have to start. I just don't want to join a health club but we have a brand new YMCA just a few miles from me so better get after it huh.
  6. I have had no problems at all except I take blood thinners and I cannot keep my blood thick enough. So they took me off blood thinners and put on an injectable called Arixtra. It works like lovenox but now I only have to take one shot a day. Plus no bruising which is really nice.

Made these this week with som chicken chorizo sausage. I used colby cheese and they are a little bit spicy but oh so good. What a great way to get good taste and the protein we need.

    How about Quinoa?

That's true forgot to mention that.

    How about Quinoa?

You need to put the quinoa in a skillet and brown it a little. there is a oil on the outside of the quinoa that can give you the bitter taste you encountered.
  10. I am on blood thinners and they are having a heck of a time keeping my INR in line with the Doctors recomendations. They have now taken me off Warfarin and now I am on Lovenox because they are afraid of me having some serious complications due to how thin my blood gets. Does anyone else have this problem with their A1C as their weight goes lower???? Thanks, Mark, Edmond Oklahoma
  11. Your nutritionist should have a number for you that represents the amount of total protein you need to comsume daily. If that can be done three meals a day with a 5 ounce stomach great. I have never been able to meet my daily protein goal without some sort of supplement. I choose to use the brand I use because it tastes good and is easy to use and helps me make my goals. I don't see why a protein shake that when made only with water has only 100 calories. 200 with skim milk. Doing all of this, I stil only consumed 700 calories yesterday. but I consumed 102 grams of carbs.
  12. You need to keep up your Protein input regardless of how you do it. I am supposed to get 92 grams of protein a day. If I can do it by eating three meals a day great. But I can't. I keep track of all of my food intake using My Fitness Pal. it tells me exactly how much I am eating every day. I rarely eat over 600 calories a day and I always have to supplement my protein intake with unjury protein. I have used that brand since before I had surgery. I like the product and the support I get from the company. It is ran by a bunch of dieticians who know all about bariatric patients. Not just some knucklehead in the mall. If you maintain your protein input withing the guidelines given to you by your surgeons nutritionist your should see a steady weight loss. I also use a app on my iphone called eat slow pro. I find that by using this and really taking my time eating while eating I find that I get full faster and lose weight faster. I have lost 75 pounds in a little over 3.5 months and I couldn't be happier. I don't check with my dietician, I read and get educated and do the protein thing religiously. Good luck everyone
  13. My wife took a pic of me yesterday. I had on a shirt that I could not wear for many years. It was tucked in and I had on a pair of jeans that were too big for me. I was a 50 before surgery and I wear a 40 now and the pants were 42's. So my belly looks even worse. I think I need to leave the shirt tail out for awhile until I hope the jiggly belly subsides.

    Sleep Apnea Questions

I had a pressure of 13 for a long time. I have lost 75 pounds since surgery (7-24-13) the pressure has been reduced to 6 which is actually normal. So I expect to be taken off CPAP when I see my pulmonologist next month. I have used CPAP for so long I think I may miss it. I don't mind using it at all. My cardiologist showed me on my echo what damage I had to my heart by not being in CPAP sooner. So please stay on it if you need it. It is worth it for your health.
  16. I had my sleeve surgery on 7/24/13. I started out with a 48 jeans and 50 slacks. I went to Walmart today to buy some new sleeping pants. I thought I would get an XL. So I took one of those and a Large in the dressing room. I can't believe that the XL was way too big. So now I am in large pants or 38 jeans. This is so amazing and I feel so good. I started getting rid of all of the drugs that I no longer use. My medicine closet is now a shoe box with lots of room to spare. I also found out that my CPAP pressure is reduced from 13 to 6 the tech told me that I would most likely be taken off that to. Wow, I am so very happy and I feel like a 40 year old (I'm 60) Mark Edmond ok.

    flatbread pizza

Made this guy tonight for dinner. My wife and I both loved it. Here is what I used: Float out flatbread Riccota cheese provolone cheese Sprouts Marinara sauce Black Olives Cherry Tomatoes White onions Olive oil I sprayed the bottom of the flatbread with olive oil Put on a slight layer of the marinara sauce (a little bit goes a long way) Then provolone cheese onions black olives Ricotta cheese A drizzle of olive oil to dress the pizza Oregeno Italian Seasoning Bake at 400 and watch carefully, when the cheese is bubbly take it out let it rest and put on some parmesian cheese. I used a pizza pan with holes in the bottom to help keep the pizza dry. It really came out great. Heres a pic B

    flatbread pizza

I would think that this could be eaten during the soft food stage. You can each cheese. The only thing is the edge of the crust gets crispy so you may want to be care and chew it really good. But all of the ingredients are allowed on the soft food stage.

    NutriBullet Extractor

baby carrots work great. they are already peeled and are very sweet. couple that with some baby spinach, flax seed and some unflavored protein and you are good to go.
  21. penman53

    NutriBullet Extractor

You need to only tighten the base tight enough so it does not leak. Remember the nutribullet is not a blender so you only need to pulse the power unit to get the results you are looking for. I used to tighten it too tight and really had to work at getting it apart. Have fun, Mark

    NutriBullet Extractor

It works great for fruit. just remember there is a lot of natural sugar in fruit. So add some fruit and compliment it with veggies. I like to use baby carrots and spinach. It turns the drink green but it does not taste like spinach. So you can get a serving of fruits and veggies in one drink. There is a small and a large cup, I am going to start using the large cup and make a two serving nutriblast. I will put two scoops of Unjury unflavored protein so I can get over 40 grams of carbs. I will just make it in the morning, use the cover and put it in the frig. then I I will quickly throw it back on the nutribullet power head to mix well then pour half into a class and enjoy. I will keep you posted but I was drinking one of these large ones for breakfast every morining from Christmas day last year till I started my two week prep prior to surgery. I started out at 385 pounds and weighed 341 the day of surgery and all I can say is the nutriblast did it. so I think it would help us all on our journey. I keep thinking chicken fish and veggies so veggies can definitely be taken care of with the nutribullet. and remember you can even leave the seeds and skin on the apples, The extractor blade takes care of that. I don't even peel the carrots if I use large ones. Oh also I took flax seed and used the milling blade and made it into flax seed flour, that way you don't have to worry about any seeds getting stuck in a staple. I really like this thing and I plan on using it alot since I am now 3 months post op.

    A1C

I am 3 months post op and am now off the insulin pump but taking 15 units of Lantus two times a day. Hoping to get off insulin entirely if all goes well. My blood glucose has been in the 80's and 100's so I am sure that my A1C will be very good. We will see at my next doctors visit. Mark Edmond Ok
