    July sleevers please check in..

oh my thought i was the only one lost 21 lbs total and the scale is not moving the way i thought.Don't worry about stalls, I am almost six months out. I have lost 101 pounds and I have had at least 3 stalls. Don't worry about the scale, look at the inches. Even though my weight stayed the same during a stall, twice I had to go to Wally world and buy a new pair of smaller jeans. I have went from size 50 to size 36.

You've lost a lot and have come so far and you know get to enjoy a better quality of life because of it. And let me tell you something else...you hit the nail on the head...my skin, our skin, all of us with the extra skin should wear it like a badge if honor. It tells our story of defeat, struggle, overcoming and victory. I love how you worded that. Beautiful. Just like your compliments and no doubt your character. Thank you again Mark! Muah!!! Right back atcha kiddo

    Almost at a Goal 7 Months Post-Op!

You are so very very welcome. We are all veterans of obesity. The battle scars we share are just a badge of honor of what sacrefice we have made in order to make ourselves healthier to prolong our lives for ourselves and our loved ones. You don't even look like the same person. Others have told me the same thing. Of course I am a 60 year old man not a beautiful flower that emerged like yourself. Never the less, we both have a great deal to be thankful for and your deserve all the credit due for your accomplishment. I hope that you are able to achieve every goal you have towards your weight loss journey. I was just lucky to get to she you share it with all of us. Sincerly, Mark Thomas Edmond Oklahoma Mom_&_Dad.bmp

    Almost at a Goal 7 Months Post-Op!

I think without a doubt that you have had the most remarkable and beautiful transformation of any lady that I have seen in the 8 months that I have been on this site. Your skin is nice and tight, you curves are fabulous and you have the face of an angel. You should be very proud of your transition and you are indeed an inspiration to us all.
  6. I have lost 101 pounds in a little over 5 months without any exercise. I hate exercise and I have some medical issues that prevents me from doing it. Now that I have lost all of the weight, my blood pressure is now low, extremely low when standing or during any exertion. I flunked a stress test yesterday because my blood pressure dropped so much and I started having difficulty breathing and had severe leg cramps. So my cardiologist told me no exercise till he finds out what is wrong with me. But I lost all my weight through food intake and watching Days of our Lives lol
  7. Got on the scales today and I was so happy to see that I had lost about 10 pounds during the holidays. 242 was the number. That puts me at 99 pounds lost since I was sleeved on July 24th of 2013. I can't wait to bust 100 pounds. Considering my highest weight was 387 pounds this means that in 2013 and early 2014 I have lost a total of 145 pounds. I am so happy and so glad that I was able to get my sleeve. What a difference my life is now.
  8. I was sleeved on July 24th 2013. My highest weight was 387, my weight on the day of surgery was 341 and my weight today 1/5/14 is 242. Mom_&_Dad.bmp

    Age and surgery

I turned 60 in Septemer and I got sleeved on the 24th of July. So far I have lost 87 pounds since surgery and have been taken off of almost all my drugs. My co morbidities are melting away and I feel great. Best decision I ever made. Should have done it a long long time ago.

    Side dishes?

Try this squash casserole, \ Saute a yellow squash and onion for 5 minutes until partially done. Crush a half sleeve of butter crackers take one half add one half cup colby or chedder cheese one egg and a half cup milk. Mix the egg, crackers and cheese together. Fold in the partially cooked squash and onion. Put in a shallow baking dish and top with the remaining crackers. Put a couple of dollops of butter on top. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Enjoy
  11. Your doing great. If you need to up your protein intake, Try some unflavored whey protein with your applesauce and yogurt. That will make it easy to up your protein.
  12. I agree totally with you. There was no way I wanted to be re plumbed. The gastric sleeve for me was the perfect solution for my weight loss goals and I have lost 130 pounds since I started and almost 90 pounds since surgery. There is no reason why you can't lose 100 pounds or more with the sleeve. Good luck on your decision.
  13. I'm five months out and I am eating from 600 to 1000 calories a day. I am eating about 50 to 65 grams of carbs a day and I am supposed to eat 92 grams of protein a day. That sometimes get tought (the protein). I usually use powdered Unjury protein to supplement if by the end of the day my protein goal is falling short. Don't worry, it will get better and better every day. Good luck for the new year. We are all rooting for you.
  14. Wow I never thought about naming my sleeve. I will have to think about coming up with a name for him/her. Since i'm a guy I guess I would have to name it a masculine gender? All I know is my sleeve has been very good to me. I am so thankful that I was lucky in that I have had very little complications and the surgery and recovery and my journey has been so wonderful. I hope that for the new year it is the same for you all. Now to come up with a name??????
  15. I have found myself being the same way. Since surgery I now do all of the cooking for my wife and myself. She is tickled about that. Before surgery I was always asking her what she wanted to eat. Now I do the shopping and food preperation and she loves it. I am always looking for new exciting recipies. Especially since I primarily eat chicken, fish and vegetables. And true since we eat so little, I go to our local grocery store called Sprouts. They specialize in good wholesome fresh organic foods and beautiful fresh fish and chicken. I will also buy scallops and filets. I will have the butcher cut a cod filet for example in half and wrap each one seperately so I can fix a 4 or 5 ounce portion and split it with my wife. I love watching food porn also but what I do is tweek the recipie to make it more healthy. You can see some of my recipies under the recipie sharing portion of the site.
  16. I already apologized I don't need a lecture on my emotional intelligence. Enough said drop it.
  17. Sorry if I came across to harshly, I will try to do better next time.

    Veins and weightloss

I have the same problems with my veins also. I had schlera therapy on both legs. Before I lost weight I was having terrible problems with swelling in my lower legs, ankles and feet. The pain in my feet was due to diabetic neuropathy due to 20 years of being a insulin requiring type II diabetic. Now that I have lost 87 pounds (since surgery) and almost 130 pounds since starting my journey, my legs are doing great also. Having this surgery has not only changed my life but it most likely saved my life. Good luck to you on all of the medical co morbidities that you still have and hopefully lose as your weight comes down.

    Are you COLD?

I'm cold all the time to. I have lost about 140 pounds since I started my weight loss journey. 88 since surgery. I am so skinny now compaired to when I started and I cant believe how good I feel but I really am cold most of the time. I hope it gets better but maybe I will more heat tolerant this summer right? Happy new year everyone, be safe and happy.
  20. Well, I just got home from the ER, all these months without one complication and now twice in month I have been dehydrated. This second time I actually passed out and collapsed in the bathroom. I thought I had my liquids under good control but apparently not. I would really like to know some secrets from you all as to what you do to ensure that you are getting in the right amount of liquid every day to preclude this condition. Thanks, Mark
  21. I bought some pita chips today, 19 grams of carbs in 1 ounce. I weighed out 1 ounce and ate them with roasted pepper hummus. You think it is ok to have that for lunch when your on "real" food? I hope so cause tasted yummy.

    BMI blues

I am five months out down 93 pounds from the day of surgery and about 120 pounds down from the start of my weight loss journey. I am six foot four and 248 pounds and when I calculated my BMI I am still classified as obese. I saw my doctor last week and he flat told me that I had lost enough weight. I simply told him that this may be true but according to my BMI I was still obese and he flatly told me that I didn't need to worry about that. All of his staff were amazed how much weight I had lost (he is my pulmonolgist and only sees me every six months) so of course the last time I saw him I had not even had my surgery. My question is, does anybody think that the BMI is really a wide ruler to determine a persons weight? I know I have went from a size 50 jeans to size 36 jeans and I have not worn that size jeans since I was in my 20's. I'm 60 now. What do you think, do I look obese? Please be honest ok? Thanks Mark Mom_&_Dad.bmp
