If you eat enough Beans, you won't need the chia seeds! And if you have a husband or boyfriend - tell him to get ready for some gassy payback!

Good luck to you all getting sleeved tomorrow. I was sleeved this past thursday and here's some advice from my experience:
    1. If you know you get nauseous from anesthesia or pain meds then ask for a patch or something to counter act it.
    2. Get up and walk as soon as you can....the first time I walked it was about 5 hours after surgery. Only walked to the nurses station but it was a start.
    3. I find it much easier to get into bed on your knees, then your not pulling on any of the stitches. I still do that now.
    4. Bring that extra pillow to hold over your stomach when you are moving around...it really helps
    5. Remember to take tiny sips when you can...when I saw that SF popsicle, I took too big of a bite and started salivating and dry heaving some.
    6. I don't know if others do or not, but don't panic if you vomit and see a lot of brown stuff. It's the dry blood from surgery. This happened to me the first night at home. You will probably see some of it with your first BM also
    7. First day at home, I found it helped me to take a tiny sip, walk around the house then come back and take another sip. It definitely gave time for the liquid to move through my tiny stomach to be able to accept more.

I'm feeling the same way. Nervous, am I doing the right thing. No one knows our struggles. I've also been heavy all my life. And yes I've lost a lot of weight in the past. But it just came back on. Nervous or not I'm going for it.

I was sleeved Feb. 20th. Got home today. My Nut said to start my Vitamins, big mistake! I was nauseous for a few hours after that. Fortunately I did not throw up. It hurts to cough but it is getting the mucous out. So definitely do your breathing exercises. Overall, I feeling ok, most of my pain is on the right where my surgeon stitched my muscle. It also caused a big dent on my side which I've read will go away. Been walking quite a bit, not far but often. Still have some gas pain in my right shoulder. I have never been so happy to fart in my entire life. Good luck to all upcoming Feb sleevers!

    Great idea!
Feeling good....getting my liquids and Protein in! No nausea, no vomiting. Still a bit tired, but hey, it's only been a week. Even had a normal BM (never thought I would be so proud of poo - ha ha).
I've even lost 5 lbs from surgery day to today....yes, 5 lbs in ONE WEEK! It still seems too good to be true. This may be the best thing I have ever done for myself.

I'm officially sleeved!! I went down at 8 this morning so I am about 12 hours out! I have a lot of nausea but that's because I do not handle anesthesia or pain medicine very well. My stomach is definitely sore, but I had my lapband taken and and reversed to a sleeve so my doctor told me I would be since he would be messing with scar tissue. The pain is still manageable though, the worst part is the nauseas but I just have to wait for the to wear off!! I am extremely happy that I made this decision to have surgery and I'll gladly take a little pain for a shot at a new healthier life!

Tomorrow I start my pre op diet with surgery on the 28th. I am going to take pre op measurements and try not to jump on the scale everyday. Guess we just have to remember that we didn't gain this overnight and we certainly won't loose it over night. I'll have to remind myself to go back and read this when I'm not loosing like I want. Lol

I was sleeved today. To be honest it wasn't that bad ( besides them not being able to start an IV after 3 tries). So they put it in my arm and not my hand. They gave me a sedative before I went into the Operating Room. I don't even remember going into the OR. I was very nausea's after surgery from the pain meds. The hardest part for me was the nausea. I kept asking for ice chips and that helped me alot. I feel no different when I drank Thankfully. So don't be nervous February Sleevers, Best Wishes to all

lea0228 reacted to PdxMan in Why no drinking when 'eating'?
Remember, the stomach is the mechanical part of digestion. When the contents get mushy and liquidy enough, the pyloric valve opens and allows this to flow into the intestines to be absorbed. Adding liquid (drinking) allows this process to happen sooner, so then you would actually be able to eat more. Don't drink and the food stays there longer and you have the restriction feeling longer.
