  1. I'm just at a computer all day. I had my surgery on Monday went home from the hospital on Tuesday took all of Wednesday off and then today I worked from home. I plan to go back to the office tomorrow. I was pretty tired today but I feel awesome most of the time so I figure I might as well head back.
  2. Good luck. As long as you met all the requirements I can't imagine you won't be approved. It took a long time for mine to come through but it will eventually.
  3. I just got home yesterday and I'm two days post op. I'm feeling really good. I have some pain but really nothing major and defiantly nothing that the meds aren't controlling. That first twenty four hours was pretty painful but once the gas pains started to die down it got a lot better. I'm taking in my fluids and full liquids pretty well. I'm afraid of overdoing it so I'm taking it pretty slow, I'm sure I could take a bit more in. I am a bit worried about getting in a enough protein and such but I'm sure it will get better over time. I haven't really felt hungry or anything yet so that's a good thing. Anyway I wanted to check in and say how great I'm feeling and happy I am that I did this!
  4. Thats crazy you really do look different. Forget 10 years younger, you look 20 years younger.
  5. Bat wings and bald Vs. Dead from heart issues. You can pick the winner.
  6. I hope you keep trying. Knowing and thinking about food is very important but if you feel like you are to the point of obsessing over it maybe you are over thinking it. Try to just eat small amounts of good foods and do your best.
  7. Welcome and good luck, I'm going in just after you on March 11. I hope it all goes really well for you!
  8. That sucks, I'm in this stage right now and am the family's cook too. The one nice difference is that my Dr.'s office says only cut out two meals a day and then still have one reasonable sized one at the end of the day. 1k calories total for the day including the shakes so I have to pay attention but at least its something.
  9. Well and especially because there are better higher Protein options out there. Seems odd but like you said Carrie, if its only a one shot and after you can switch to whatever works best for you then yea I guess dive in.
  10. I have read way more good stories on here than bad. Just look through some of the before after pics and posts. Look at people's weight trackers and see what they lost. They are losing and they are feeling good if you read them. The biggest trap people can fall into on this or really any forum is reading the negative posts. Its almost human nature to see a title like "OMG I ALMOST DIED" and read that post then start reading other posts just like it. Read those to be educated about the dangers but also read the "OMG I lost a million pounds and feel great" threads too.
  11. Wowsers. That's nuts for only two weeks. I just had to use the Bariatric Advantage shakes. $60 for a month. More than what I can change to from GNC or Sams Club after. The two week just had to be this stuff. $250 seems out of line though. Maybe you can ask if they have any alternatives.
  12. I bet. But yea, that almost exactly lines up with what the info from my Nut says for starting out on foods. Its definitely a good thing that it feels filling. That's more or less the idea I suppose.
  13. Those numbers are your per day or per meal numbers. Per day that sounds about like what I have in my guide book.
  14. Sounds like you are doing the right stuff. Maybe you're just a slower loser than some others. As long as you keep at it I'm sure it will keep going.
  15. Almosthome, I have been thinking about the number of reminders I will have to set up in my outlook to keep track of those things. An app would be great. If anyone has one that would be awesome. Until then I plan to just have a million reminders set on my Outlook on my phone.
  16. What about your workout routine? Are you getting exercise in there? Also what are your weight stats like how much did you have to lose total?
  17. Good luck with what ever you decide on. Its a long trip sometimes to go from investigating to getting a date but you can do it if you want to. I'm sorry for the negativity you are getting from your peers. I have had nothing but positive responses from my people which has been great. I can only imagine how hard it would be to do without a support system in place. Take time with them and explain that this isn't the easy way out and that you will have to do all of those things they are suggesting and then some. Its a tool that leads to a life style change, a kind of aid to help you while you learn or relearn about how to take care of your body. Next remember that this is about you and your health and you kids having a healthy Mom around.. Its not, at least I assume, only about looks. Sure that is a bonus and all that but for me its about not dying of some health related issue before I'm forty. I would trade the health issues away even if it meant still looking like I do. Like I said, that is just a bonus side affect. I think sometimes people think we are only doing this to be skinny when that is not the case or not the only case. If you decide this is what you want to do, be strong and fight for it every day.
  18. Wow thats a long time. I started investigating in September of last year and have a date for next month. But that is all in the States so I can't say how it works for the UK docs. I had to do like 3 months worth of various appointments and meetings but that was about it. I would say just ask your doctor what the whole process looks like and what to expect for a time frame.
  19. The OP story is pretty much mine too. I am a computer tech and student. I used to be very active but as the pounds packed on over time I had less and less energy and now am almost completely sedimentary. I have been exercising ever sense I started this journey and love it and feel better for it.
  20. That seems really low on protein and high on calories. You can get twice the protein and less cal using an EAS or similar shake. Similar price too if not a bit cheaper.
  21. Mine told me the two shakes and 1000 cal total for the day. So 1000 including the shakes. So really chose healthy stuff that fits under that mark and I'm sure it would be fine. The main idea is that you lose weight and shrink the liver so stay away from crabs and sugars.
  22. I would think this could be a side affect. That and other malnutrition issues. You aren't taking in enough of those nutrient and need to get them from vitamins. I don't think I would even consider not taking them.
  23. You sound like you know the problem when you mention adding a bit more and a bit more and so on. Knowing that is part of the solution. Portion out all of your meals, and such, for the day and don't eat more than that. At least then you know you aren't adding more and more to what you are eating. Just fallow what your Doctor and Nut have laid out for you and you shouldn't ruin it at all and like the other poster said, over time you will get used to it and be less hungry.
  24. I have to echo the others here. 30 pounds is a lot. My doc told me I just had to say within 5 pounds of my initial weight and that is with insurance requirements not self pay. Hmm. Good luck.
