  1. I love this thread. Due to torn ACL and Ligaments in my knee working out and even walking has been difficult. This surgery became a priority because the Orthopedic surgeon wanted me to lose weight prior to surgery. I know inches mean a lot compared to pounds. I am 5'4 and surgery was 1/28/13. I don't really exercise and I struggle to drink my fluids. Pre-Surgery I weighed 278 and clothing was 2x or 20/22. As of today I am 221 and I am buying clothes that are size 12. I am happy with my weight loss. I have 2 friends who had surgery around the same time I did and they are 180 pounds so it made me feel like I am not doing well. But my clothes and pictures speak for themselves and I am happy. My goal is to be under 200 pounds by end of August and hopefully 170 by my 41 birthday in December. Good luck everyone. Throwing up

I agree with the others I am 9 weeks out and found I have to eat slow and avoid many foods I ate before surgery. Make sure your doctor knows he may want you to have an endoscopy. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Doctor is disappointed

Thanks everyone. I said to myself maybe he forgot he sleeved me and not bypass. I do know those with bypass surgery will drop faster than us initially but I thought my progress was great. I have never lost 50 pounds on my own and tried for many years. I agree, I believe he wasn't thinking. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  5. I am 9 weeks post surgery and have lost 51 pounds and the doctor just told me today during my visit I haven't lost enough. I was shocked. I was so happy my dresses use to be 20/22 and I went shopping last weekend and was able to buy 12/14. He just ruined my joy made me feel like I haven't made any progress. He said I should be 200 now and reach 175 by June. Now have to look at my eating habits and work out routine. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    African American Sleevers

Good luck. Im 6 weeks out and it was NOT easy for me, although many don't have many complications. I endured mine and It was the best decision I have made when I went shopping last week for clothes because my pants were falling off of me. Congrats and don't lose focus. Progress after first 2 weeks

I lost 28 at my 2 weeks. At 4 weeks I was down 37. Now at 6 weeks seem like I am losing about 2-3 pounds a week. However I don't go by looking at the scale because of my body shape I know where I want to be I am concern with inches & clothe size. With that said I was wearing 2x/22 and bra 44d. Now going into my 6 weeks Im in 14w dresses and had to buy my slacks at 16 due to my thighs and bra 38d. I had to go shopping last week because my clothes were falling off of me. Yeah!!! Your weight loss sound good. Just remember to walk and when you have permission do some weight training. I focus a lot on weight training Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Vomiting, post op 9weeks, vsg

Im 4 weeks out and experience it when I eat anything that my stomach doesn't like. I notice when i go to the grocery store and I walk near the seafood department I get nausea and feel sick. My doctor told me to take my time adding new foods. I can tolerate dark meat chicken, tuna fish salad, and items from my pureed stage. I have tried some other foods and had the same effect so I have gone back to eating what my stomach tolerates. So don't worry you are not alone. I know a couple who had to stay on the same food items for 3 months out before they stopped feeling like vomiting when eating. As my doctor said everyone bodies are different and many foods we could eat pre op we may not be able to eat post op this I have found out all to well. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    African American Sleevers

Hi Ladies, I was sleeved January 28, 13. I have had a couple of battles. I did have scars and even got a Keloid Scar. I been using Scar away to help fade my scars and thank God it's working. I have started losing my hair and it has become very dry & brittle. I'm following doctor orders and take in the required protein. The good news I have lost 27 pounds since surgery. Good luck to you all. Sent from my iPhone using VST
