PeacockMama got a reaction from bkrenning in Bunless Taco Burgers Low Carb Good Protein
Surgery is Tues and I've been on low carb/high Protein pre op diet. I kind of invented something tonight and I thought "Hey, this would be perfect a few months post-op" so I wanted to share w/ ya'll! Taco Bunless Burgers. Put taco seasoning (home made would have less sodium if you're up to doing individual spices) into 1 lb ground turkey & mix well. Divide into 8 even portions and form into patty in a baking pan (or you could do in a cupcake pan it would be more like a meatball). Bake on broil 4 mins on each side (8 mins total) or until done in center. Add 1/2 cup shredded taco cheese (divided into 8 portions), diced onion, salsa, and 1 Tbsp. Fat Free Sour Cream to each piece. This will end up being about 3-4 ounces for the whole package and only about 125 calories each! Let me know what you think ;D

I should be all caught up with the invites to the group at this point. Let me know if I missed you. Also, anyone who is already a member can invite other people, so you could help me out so I don't have to do it all. There is a link at the top of the group page that says 'Invite by email'. Thanks

Was sleeved on the 12th Ive also had no issues with anything I've eaten. I don't let myself get "full". I jst measure out 1/4-1/2 cup of food, or 3-4 ounces. I choose Protein first, then carbs if I still want something but normally I don't. Last night we went to Olive Garden, I got the mussels appetizer and ate a little less than half of them. I think about 7 mussels.

Only lost 2 pounds this past week its that's "3 week stall" everyone talks about. 18 lbs total. That doesn't sound like a lot to me for what I've been through and for how little im eating. I know it will keep coming off and 18 pounds is actually good for 3 weeks. Its my rational vs my emotional. The GREAT thing, however, is that I can't just say "screw it" and eat myself into oblivion like I could pre op. And I know that it'll come off. One way or another, fast or slow...it WILL come off. I just need to be patient, get the Protein and Water in, and start exercising more!!

Yeah I can eat the "soft" diet now which includes fish, chicken, eggs, and Pasta. But im eating VERY small amounts VERY slowly. I have, however, decided to try to eat mostly Soups and yogurt for a little while longer. I haven't had any pains or anything though other than that one time w the chicken from eating it too fast.

Deeda I had the Protein Shots, threw them away. They made me gag they were so horrible! Since its not all whey Protein, its a mix of collagen whey and casein, your body isn't going to absorb it very well. But, its better than nothing in the first few days if that's all you have and if you can stomach them!

Im also having a hard time getting in enough Protein. Its just that all the protein I can have right now is sweet and im so tired of that. I want some savory flavors! Next week will be SO much better. eggs and chicken and fish....mmm. some days im getting in about 40, some days 30, and some days 50. 50 is what I shoot for but some days I just can't take it.

I think there is a part of our brain, maybe subconscious or maybe you are aware of it...I think we get surgery and expect to wake up skinny in the next week. We focus on the numbers bc we expect to be losing in huge chunks every few days. After all, we DID get our stomachs cut out. Its discouraging to not see the scale moving as fast as we thought. Im not losing as fast as I thought I would...but I know that every little bit adds up, esp over say a 6 month period. It took me YEARS to get this big...so if I can un-do in months what I did in years I will be happy. We all need to keep the BIG PICTURE in mind. 6 months is NOTHING in the scheme of life, and when it comes we will all be totally different people. Just hang in there, stay off the scale so much, and do what you're supposd to be doing. It WILL happen. How could it not???

Hey everyone sorry I haven't posted! I got so behind bc my internet didn't work in juarez but my texting did lol I had a GREAT experience and would recommend starmedica hospital in Juarez, dr rodriguez and his staff to ANYONE considering this surgery. I wont go through the entire thing, but everything was clean and modern, the staff was super nice and knowledgable, and I felt comfortable and safe the whole time. I am now 4 days post op (5 counting the day of surgery, seems like longer lol)and I feel pretty great in general! Not going to weight until Tuesday, the 1 week mark bc of all the extra Fluid weight. Don't want to be disappointed and it should be gone by the week mark. So far its all smiles and no regrets, and each day will be better and better!
