I thought I recognized you from the competitions - only I thought you were Japanese? Oh well, you had a good run, time to let the next generation have their turn.

    I would tell her:

I THANK GOD everyday that I live in a world where I can have lasix surgery to improve my eyesight. (Permanent re-formation of cornea, can't be reversed)
I have had a few teeth removed, several moles and a growth removed from my nether regions which was causing me issues. Don't want anything back.
I have had friends have their tonsils, appendix, spleens, ovaries (and associated parts) removed when they aren't working for them anymore, and they are better for it. (Permanent removal of organs, don't want them back)
I have also had 85% of my stomach removed so I can have a tool to restrict my intake and help me lead a healthier life and be there for my family and friends.
I know God intended babies to come out the way they went in, but it is good to know these smart men and women are there to help with surgeries.
I also know these same smart men and women do surgeries for vanity purposes, and I am glad God put them here to help those who feel they need it.
What class of people do you think God would look down on more, those getting surgeries for vanity or those trying to improve the quality of their lives? My 2 cents

flmama - that is a horrible experience, but I LOVE that you found something positive to take away! If he thought you were 22 before the surgery, you are going to look like 12 after the surgery! I'm so glad they straightened it out!

Yeah. I think after 10 pages it can be summarised as-
    1. People have some valid reasons to not tell who they don't want to tell.
    2. People have some valid reasons to tell everyone.
    3. People really have difficulty with people not agreeing with their opinion.
I think it's item 3. that has really driven this topic.

Now that the cat is out of the bag with your family it will be fine. I don't see how anyone could hold any ill will against someone with a heart as big as yours Lisa. I'm sure you'll find in the short term it will be a weight off your shoulders.
Some situations I have to admit sound harder for women than men, like the hairdresser one. But I have been in in a similar situation with a bunch of Detectives and SWAT operatives (read massive alpha males) and when asked felt on the spot. It was like swallowing glass answering. They all responded really well.
Over time this will be a 'non issue'. Eventually we won't be the fat person now skinny and the questions will stop getting asked. I'm looking forward to that day

WOW Sannah, I take a couple of days off to wallow in the frozen tundra (ok I had work in Alaska) and you go and get all better on me Look at you girlfriend!!!! You're rocking the mashed foods LOL
I totally get that fear you have BTW. I was so afraid to progress because I didn't want the leak to open back up or something. I think that's natural and you'll get over it. I actually did ok going to purees, but was scared to death of the next couple of steps. Mind you I had that claw thing in me for six weeks so I was fearing that it would open daily LOL
I'll check back later but I must say it's good to read the positive vibes in your posts now darling. Woo Hoo!!! You're gonna make it baby!!!!!

U can only take tylenol for up to 6 months out. My surgeon is fixing my hernia at the same time so urs should b able to. My doc has already called all my meds to pharmacy for when I get home n my surgery isnt till 18th n they are all liquid or dissolvable. Ask about ulcer preventative meds this may also help ur herd.

I'm not anti Protein bars by any means. I keep them at work, in my kit bag for work when I'm on the road and at home.
I do think that they're relatively high in calories for volume. I think they're great for an emergency, so you don't get caught out without a healthy option to eat.
So I have them and try to mix in other Protein Snacks during the day. For instance I'll take a boiled egg in its shell to work and have it as an afternoon snack, 70 cals. tuna in spring Water and crackers. Jerky. There are loads of stuff to mix in with bars.
I eat bars, but I don't have them everyday. Plus I'm trying to form up my eating in the future, and I'd rather get a routine with real food happening.
    My two cents.
    Cheers,
    Deano

Ahh yes Dean you are so right! It is a tangled web i have created... I originally wanted only my mom and immediate family to know but after just one family reunion, that I didn't attend, everyone knew because some one let it slip lol
I do worry about my lies coming back to haunt me and yes sometimes I wish it was easier and I had been honest and just dealt with it then but I didn't ... So this story will be continued... (Scary music plays)
As for other people asking I sometimes tell them and have conversations about it etc but there are times when I'm in a crowded hair salon and my hair dresser asks oh how have you done it and all eyes are on me and I lie... I say it's been hard and try and change the subject.
I guess I am uncommitted in my decision to tell or not to tell.
I suppose it makes me selfish at times, idk, I just do what I do at the time.

Everyone has their own way. I'm completely open about it, especially if someone asks a direct question.
I've only been sleeved last November and I'm happy to say that because of my openness and probably my enthusiasm two people I know are now on their WLS journey.
Things happen a lot quicker with WLS in Australia. One of the people is a daughter of a work friend. She had her surgery 3 weeks ago and has decided to keep it a secret from everyone, except me, her mum and her husband.
I don't judge her for that decision but I have seen that she's having some issues with maintaining the secret with her in laws. I'm hoping that over time, if the real story comes out, it doesn't damage her relationship with them. She's only young and newly married.

I don't think that not telling is akin to trying to "look good" or "feel accepted"
And I really don't put this surgery in the same place as "buying titties" you are not buying an healthier body you are having major surgery to help you get healthy hopefully... that is if you can stick to the diet and exercise plan...
I don't disagree with your stance on telling EVERYONE, but after you have your surgery who knows you may change you mind again. Or take it on a case by case basis?
And for that I will not judge...

Thank you for the low cal treat ideas! He definitely will eat anything that I offer him. He just lurks and waits to hear the word treat lol
We have him on prescription diet dog food but he has been on it for some time and no weight loss. We are suckers for his cute face and with all of us giving him a "treat" here and there it defeats his diet food regimen.
I think I'm going to get some blood work on him and make sure I'm not missing anything.
You mentioned your cat being the house bully hehe my sisters cat is the same and she bullies the pug. One look from the cat and the lil pug stops cold and has a look of worry on his lil face for a bit. He must have short term memory problems because a few hours later he is back for more, pestering the cat to play with him. That cat has NEVER played with him... Silly dog

Above all you have to take care of yourself. You have to put yourself first. Its not being selfish to be your best healthy self. My husband isn't all that thrilled either. I'm doing it anyway. I refuse to not get healthy because of his insecurities. All you can do is keep the lines of communication open. It could be that he doesn't want you to have a bad outcome. Surgery is a risk and he doesn't want to lose you. Or is it because he thinks you'll become more attractive to others and leave him. Either way try to involve him in the process and assure him it is a health focused choice. When he is willing to be involved, talk to him about the risks of not doing the surgery, what your comorbidities will do to your body over time. That's all you can do. The rest is up to him. My husbad doesn't really want to talk about it, so I don't forse the issue. But when he does want to talk, I do what i can to inform him.
    Take care.
