Marbear reacted to TwinsMama in Feeling "hunger" - is it really gone?
I am 7 weeks out and had hunger the entire time. I of course don't get hungry as often or with the same intensity...but yes, hunger is there. I had people telling me I was only "head hungry" then when I got light headed (more than once) my Dr and Nut both said...um, yes some people still get hungry.
I even tried drinking Water only to be upset I have to wait 30 min to eat because yes, it was hunger all along.

My favorite morning treat, 1 banana, 2 eggs, 1 scoop Protein Powder (any flavor). Mash banana, mix in eggs and powder, make pancakes. YUM! There is enough for 2 servings for me. You can make mini pancakes like I like or can make 1 really big pancake.< /p>

I am in love with these Protein muffins. I'm a year out and just recently added back some oats, but these are still pretty healthy.
    banana bread Protein muffins
    Ingredients
3/4 cup Ripe banana (about 1 large banana)
    3/4 cup Egg whites
1/2 cup Plain low/non fat greek yogurt (I used banana)
    3/4 cup Oats
2 scoops Protein powder (I used a combo of nectar Banana Cream, vanilla, Chocolate-all good)
1/4 cup Granulated Splenda (you can probably leave this out if you want)
    1 tsp Baking powder
    1 tsp Baking soda
    1 tsp. Cinnamon
I threw in some chopped walnuts and when I made chocolate banana muffins (pictured), I added 3 semi sweet chocolate chips on top. Yum!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray muffin tin with non-stick spray. Silicone liners are awesome...Will stick otherwise.
Mix (wet with wet, dry with dry, then combine).
Divide mixture evenly between 12 muffin tins.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.

Your family sounds really supportive and loving. How cool your grandma is wanting a Jonny tattoo.
For counseling, does your husband's employer participate in the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)? If so, that could be some free counseling sessions. Also, you might look for some bereavement support groups for parents in your area. Social workers at local hospitals (especially if there is a children's hospital nearby) or other children services areas should have contact information for you. I'm so glad you have gotten such kind and supportive responses here. I read your story; you have been through so much. If you want to PM me I would be happy to look up the services for you and send you the contact information.

Marbear got a reaction from pantala in Buyers remorse anyone?
I am almost 4 months out and haven't had any 2nd thoughts. Honestly if I don't lose another pound, the mental health benefits of not having constant hunger, getting full really fast, and just generally feeling less stressed/more in control about all aspects of food have made it worth it for me. The weight loss is of course awesome, but I didn't realized how much food stress I was carrying around into all aspects of my life until it was lessened.

Never depend on motivation to get through exercise. For some, it's a job just like the 9 to 5. When i was utterly sick of the gym I found this quote and saved it:
"No motivation however does not mean I won’t do the work. work needs to be done. I will never rely on motivation. Too risky"

I do not know about you, but I am constantly working on my squat form. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. There are so many little details to consider to execute the perfect deep squat, many of which I am working on.
Here is a super resource that I found this morning:

I am going to spend some time reading the free articles. I find them very good.

For those of you in the vicinity of Arlington VA, I can vouch for this trainer all the way. Very correct, knowledgeable, professional, and not intimidating at all. He's good with all levels of fitness. I'm sad that I don't live close enough to work with him regularly and wanted to share the love. Kettlebell training is where it's at - full body and fun!

Well...if it helps, I've been sitting around like a lump all day lol. But now I guess I better go do something, since we're on the topic and all of that. Maybe watch TV while you are on your fitness equipment. Or just grit your teeth and get it over with...i think that's what I'll be doing today.

Marbear got a reaction from BloomingFaith in How did you get through 2 weeks pre op?!
Maybe an appetite suppressant would get you through since its short term - Byetta (injection, rx), pseudofed (12 hr extended release, OTC), or even Phentermine if your dr. will prescribe it. Mine did but it messed up my sleep so I didn't use it much. Obviously this isn't ideal, but it's short term, medically supervised, and better for your liver (I'm told). I realize that many people see the pre op diet as a time to practice post op eating habits, but that mentality didn't work for me because the hunger was so constant and overwhelming (even with 2 of the 3 aforementioned appetite suppressants!) Honestly, if i never lose another pound for the rest of my life, just having that very real, desperate, and constant hungry feeling gone has made surgery worth it.

Marbear reacted to cinward2001 in What's going on with my guts?
My dr didn't put me on anything after the first 5 days post-op. No Vitamins, no acid reducers, etc...and I'm glad! I sometimes wonder if all that stuff isn't like medication for the elderly...as you take more and more things, interactions occur and sometimes, they cause problems. Or, you take acid reducers to cut down on heartburn, but then your stomach becomes more sensitive, so you take more acid reducer, and just get into a vicious cycle.
It sounds to me like you're putting quite a bit into your stomach. Multi-Vitamin, Calcium, antacids, Protein shakes...all have "fillers," artificial flavorings and colors, artificial this and that...have you thought about stopping *everything* for a few days? If you've been tolerating most foods pretty well, maybe switch to very "clean" eating (and real food only) for a few days? For example, eat scrambled eggs for Protein vs a Protein shake. Natural Peanut Butter, a banana...that sort of thing.
I only suggest this because I'm really sensitive to artificial sweetners, Vitamins, etc. They make me feel worse, not better. Most Protein Shakes send me to the bathroom with diarrhea.
Good luck! It sounds like you're feeling pretty miserable , so I hope you find the answer soon!

We are sleeved around the same time. My tummy was doing the same thing earlier this week. So I went back to only Protein shakes and decided to try out each food one by one in a meal. So on Monday it was Protein Shakes and beans- no problem, Tuesday Protein Shakes and cheese- no problem, Wednesday Protein shakes and toast- MAJOR PROBLEM. Once I found out what it was I was able to take that out and then continue to eat on my soft stage again. I will try toast again when my tummy has had a chance to heal a bit more.
You could try to reintroduce your foods again
