questions one month out
Hey there! I was sleeved 12/5 and have only lost over 30 lbs post surgery... I just broke my 2nd stall this week by upping my calories, protein and liquids... I walk most days... about 30 minutes...I think weighing more than twice a week can serve to be very discouraging when the numbers don't move... in my case, I went up 2 lbs before I went down...You'll lose... your body will adjust... and you'll lose again... take heart! You're doing fine!

Valentine's Day Challenge 2013

All of my December sleevers...
I'm a 12/5 sleever and I lost quickly... hit a stall... gained 2 lbs... then lost 4... gained 2 of them back and the scale hasn't moved in almost 2 weeks... Maybe I should try and up my calories for a few days...just to make sure my body knows it isn't being starved... I am managing to get in 700-800 cals and but I keep coming in shy of 60 grams of protein ... I sometimes think about giving up but... I've had surgery... give up how? it is what it is... and I am going to make the best of it...

Lemon water or crystal light?
I've had no problems with lemon water... and yes... taste buds do seem to be hijacked post surgery... but no worries... stuff starts tasting better down the line...crystal lite was way too sweet at first, now I love it!

BM questions-kind of embarrassed
OMG... please know that it WILL change... but be careful that you're staying hydrated... but enjoy the go... because sometimes, I can't...unassisted... I know, TMI!! I am 7 wks out and things have truly changed... trying to find a balance at this point...

Am I the only one?
I think we all think the same thing as soon as we hit a stall... my first stall... I actually gained 2 lbs! I thought... OMG! Not even surgery will work for me! but after 6 days, I saw a change on the scale... and in my clothes... just know that it gets better...

Unwanted side effects
sounds like you may be lactose intolerant... check and see if the shakes have dairy in them and if so, try shakes without to see if that makes a difference... I am lactose intolerant so I know your pain...

Need encouragement
if at all possible, move your body! take a short walk... dance around the house... do something! not only did that help relieve some of my pain, it lightened my mood... hope this helps...
-
Constipation...tell me everything you know!
I saw those in the drug store but my surgeon says NO to gummies of any sort...

Constipation...tell me everything you know!
I am only 7 wks out... but yes... it was horrible... I believe its because of the anesthesia, the lower Fluid intake and probably because you're not back as active as you were before surgery... once I got my fluid intake up and got back to walking, I am experiencing less constipation...I had to use a stool softener and glycerin suppositories to help relieve the discomfort of constipation. I don't think it will ever go back to what you're used to... you'll have to find your new normal post surgery for a lot of things... Anyway, I hope you find some relief soon!

I just cried ( melt down )
ooooh... emotional wreck... that explains me lately... I get so angry... with everything! I've only lost a few lbs in the scheme of things but who knew that fat was a factor when it comes to hormones and emotions? I wish someone had warned me... I pray we make it through this stage soon... Peace

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
I have 3 children, 21, 17, and 8... my oldest is engaged to be married, my middle child graduates high school and has college aspirations for later this year... one particular night, the older two were out with their friends... and it was just me and my youngest....I was in pain... and asking him to bring me this... and bring me that... I realized that if I didn't take charge of my health... get this weight under control... this kid would be stuck with me ALONE in the next few months...I don't want my son to have to take care of me... I'm supposed to be the care giver... I am now 7 wks post-op... and I am more energetic and in less pain... Grateful I took this chance to turn it around!

VITAMINS pre op!
I have always taken a Multivitamin and Omega 3 capsules...my surgeon said that many people come to him Vitamin D deficient... so maybe you can start there... hope this helps...

One of those boring Success Stories :)
I named mine "Mama" cuz she seems to run things...lol She was born 12/5... started out at 340... did the 6 mth (which turned into 8 mths) plan for BCBS... at first consult with the surgeon, I was at 320... day of surgery, I was 304.5... I was so excited when I left the 3's and came to the 2's...I am trying to adjust to this new way of eating and to this new body...I wish you well on your journey... and yes... pretty soon, those pants will fit! God bless!

Cost sanity check
I realize I didn't fully count up the costs before I had surgery... I need shoes... all of my shoes are too big... I'm glad its winter and I can get away with boots... and my grocery bill is higher... making sure to have protein rich snacks and foods is expensive... and I have to feed 3 other people than myself...kids will eat you out of house and home! Even with all this... I don't regret having the surgery... I have more energy... and I am no longer on blood pressure meds... monthly savings right there... but all the vitamins and supplements I am taking... I don't actually save anything... still its worth it all...

Fear.....
yall are hilarious!!!

4 days post op, drinking too fast?
sounds like a plus to me! getting the fluids in is very important!!

Did anyone NOT lose weight after surgery?
boy... I felt the same... I hit a stall and actually GAINED 2 lbs... once I started watching my carbs and getting my fluids in, I dropped to the weight I am now...I understand that stalls happen and it's part of the process... I was also losing inches... and my clothes were fitting loosely even during the stall so I know SOMETHING was still happening... be patient, follow the plan and you will lose...and don't worry about what everyone else is losing... this journey is personal and your sleeve will do for you what you need it to do...don't lose heart!

Doctoral class and sleeve?
I postponed my surgery until after I'd completed grad school...I didn't take any chances... with any surgery there is the risk of complications so I decided I'd wait...
