  1. WLS has been known to rock the boat in some marriages. It changes many aspects of what was once "normal". Our changes affect everyone around us in a rippling effect. Guessing that the jokes are their way of vocalizing fears without pursuing the issue too much.

    Medication post op

All of my pills are chewable or fairly small to swallow. I struggled with the prilosec at first but doing better with it now. My doc said if I couldn't handle it to call and they would try something else. Maybe they could help you?
  3. If you have fruit try the no sugar added canned fruit/applesauce. I don't have any issues with those and my NUT highly recommended one serving a day to help with bathroom, etc. Do you keep a food log? Maybe try writing down everything and then your reactions to see if there is a connection.

Week 2 Foods?! What do I eat?

I bought a little strainer at Walgreens and it became my best friend during my soup stages.

    How soon before chlorine/swimming?

I was cleared at 4 weeks

    How often are you eating?

I'm on 5 small meals a day since I can't hold much more than that. Plus I get my vitamins in that way. I don't always fit the 5 in a day but I try

    incision healing?

The glue on mine stayed for about 7 days on the smaller incisions and over 3 weeks on the large one. I had one that was red and itchy but once the glue popped off it was grand. I had another where I could feel a bit of fishline poking but it disappeared. They are starting to look like my stretch marks now LOL *I couldn't have a bath for 3 weeks and no swimming for 4 weeks.

    Exercise

I passed my six week mark so I've started jogging/walking again. It's a beast trying to regain endurance but I'm already where I left off 2 years ago so I was pleased.
  10. They really should give you some anti-acid medicine for a while to help your sleeve heal. I'm sorry they aren't very responsive to you. Not a safe practice to let a WLS patient go without answering her concerns. Have you tried warming your water or cooling it to see if it goes down better? I do better with warm than cold now.

    confused

You will keep losing. It may not be 3 pounds a day though. I average 1/2 pound to a pound a day ... then I stall for a few days ... then it starts back up. Your body is probably just recalibrating itself

    Caffiene ?

I can have regular coffee if I replace it with an extra cup of water so I just stick to decaf which is considered part of my 64 oz.

    Sex?!

I waited 2 weeks but my incisions were super swollen and I just didn't want to risk anything.

    Anyone feel amazing post op?

My only difficulty was some gas pains going into my left shoulder. I was exhausted some days but a good nap took care of that. By day 4 I was bouncing with energy. As long as I didnt' overdo it I felt (still feel) great.

    Recovery: C-section vs sleeve

Looks like I'm a rare one here but my sleeve was much easier than my 3 csections.
  17. I would stick with water way before protein. You don't want to land back in the hospital from dehydration. I don't think I got much protein in the first week or so and then it only went up a little bit the second week. It's like a full time job when you get home trying to balance the water/protein, watch the clock. I found it exhausting and very happy I'm done with that phase. I hope it all works out with little problems! Hang in there!
  18. Mine is supportive as well but he still had his moments. The second night I was home he left me with the 3 kids and went out to eat by himself and continued to do this multiple times until I lost it on him. He would have a few beers and come back and be quite rude. It was like he couldn't handle any of it for a while. But now that the burden of the children isn't on him anymore, and he's decided he wants to lose weight as well, he's more normal again.

Full but Still Craving Sugar Help!

I"m not craving sugar nearly as bad but I definitely can tell when that time of the month is coming because even the sleeve doesn't take the sugar craving away I think what the PP said is nice. If you are at a point where you aren't as restricted then let yourself have a bite. I, personally, struggle with that because then I'm one that ends up saying it's just a bite .. every day ... so I just avoid it. Good luck!!
  21. Have you tried some lowfat cream of chicken soup strained? Mix it with some milk and add some non fat dry milk for extra protein. I ended up having 2 servings a day because I couldn't stomach the commercial protein shakes. that or I made my own protein shakes from a list my NUT gave me.
  22. I hope the surgeon follows through and double checks you. Please keep us posted!
  23. Wowzers! This thread is still going?!?! I don't usually chime in on particular behaviors but this post is quite irritating. Mainly because the only person being aggressive is the one who started the whole thing but clearly cannot see that. PS. Some of you ladies are hilarious, lol! Enjoying the haikus!
  24. The last thing my NUT said to me before leaving the hospital after my surgery was "I truly believe that there are people out there with obesity issues that don't stem solely from overeating". She watched my food log for 3 months. She also watched me gain 5 pounds instead of lose. Only time I lost weight was on the preop diet of 900 calories. I do better with complete restriction. But, people do have medical issues, and your GENES play a huge role. How many people on here can say that they are the only big person in their family?? Between how you were raised to good ole genes, it just runs in families. My dad has severe weight issues, I have weight issues. My siblings have none. It feels unfair somedays.
