  1. oh! I nearly forgot! When I was a Navy Wife, my height was listed at 165 inches...
  2. For a long time I didn't know how much my DH weighed, but well neighther did he... Dr's office scales wouldn't go that high. He now knows how much I weight. My son asked me yesterday how much I weigh, getting ready for my band and all, and I told him. He was impressed and told me that I sure cary my weight well. Such a golden tounge on that boy...
  3. Lies! Lies! Lies! My weight is wrong, my hair color is wrong, and the day I had the pix taken, I had the flu...

Ryan, I truely hope that things get better for you and Patty. I know things have been espeically rough on her and you, and that you've both been in my thoughts. Take care.
  5. Why am I fat? 2/25/05<o =""></o> What a loaded question. I come from a fat family. My mother was/is MO, my father was, both his sisters are, his grandmother was, half of my mother’s aunts were MO… That’s 115 linear years of being fat… Neither one of my brothers is fat, but I think their serious cocaine and meth additions had something to do with that. <o =""></o> <o =""></o>I love food. I love to cook, to feed people, to nurture them through food. I love to create new recipes, modify old ones. I love to eat good food. And I’ve always been able to eat large quantities of food, I’ve almost always had a difficulty feeling full. Saity is not part of my understanding. Heck, I can’t even spell the word close enough to Word to spell it for me!<o =""> </o> <o =""></o>Abuse, mental illness, bla bla bla, my mother was a lunatic, and not in a good way. Drugs, booze, pain. All part of the mix. Same as so many others. <o =""></o> I was always built solidly. Drop me into a pool and I would sink. In high school I always thought I was gi-normous, the scales said I was fat, my family was always telling me how fat I was. But I look at pictures from my year-book, and I was the same size as all the other girls. Bigger than some, smaller than others. <o =""> </o>When I was small, I was forever getting serious cases of poison oak to the point where my skin looked like it was melting. I would need heavy doses of steroids and I’m sure that caused me to pack on the muscles. When I was 19 I was working out 5 hours a day and I loved every minute of it. My fighting weight was 190, and I thought I was terribly fat. I was a size 11 and I could bench press close to 300 pounds. My warm up was 100 push up (not modified), 100 sit-ups, 100 jumping jacks, and 50 judo push-ups. Then I could get down to my real work out. <o =""></o> <o =""></o>That lasted a couple of years until I developed asthma. It hit me hard and fast. I was spending a week in the ICU every month for close to a year. Really hard to get any exercise when you get out of breath trying to catch your breath. And then when you add the steroids on top of not being able to move… recipe for disaster. <o =""></o> <o =""></o>I developed carpal tunnel so bad I had to have four surgeries on my hands. For several years I only had partial use of one hand. (turns out, I can’t do simple arithmetic left handed…) The drug they put me on gave me back nearly full use of both my hands, but I gained 50 pounds in 3 months. Not fun, like so many others here, I decided being fat was the lesser of two evils. <o =""></o> <o =""></o>I’m concerned that I won’t do well with the band because of the steroids, and the weight I always gain and can never seem lose. I worry that this too will be just another gimmick that I’ve tried. But I know now that the scales lie. They are dammed liars. I don’t have a goal weight, I only have a goal size. <o =""></o> <o =""></o>“the best fried pickles?” ERk! <o =""> </o>
  6. Ice Cream not enough excersize asthma medication. At least this time I didn't actually stab anybody...
  7. Ah, but Blossom, if you do track et. al, you can kiss your butt good bye... (or in my case my tummy.. and chins and stuff...)
  8. The threads about nicknames and name calling had me seriously laughing. I thought I would add to the general mayhem with a couple of other fun names… Theme of the day: Hippy names! As a tree hugger, I am Teal Birchwood. http://rumandmonkey.com/widgets/toys/namegen/13/
  9. You'll do fine! Lots of white light on ya'!
  10. Thanks Zoe! Yeah, that puppy was a very handsome little dog. Unfortunately, he was psychotic, and not in a good way. I really like that quote too. And lately, pretty approprate.
  11. No one ever called me fat names. About the best they could ever come up with was "crystal pistol, big fat wist-le." But when I asked them what that ment they got confused and wandered away....
  12. and who hasn't smuggled a 5th of tequilla under their bra?
  13. Because Babs made it to her original goal, I say we get her a shirt that says "I lost it!"
  14. OH Babs! this is tremendous news!!!!! To quote you from another thread, "My plastic surgeon said that I have about 12 pounds of excess skin and fat distributed on the thighs and stomach. " So, even though I'm struggling with my math classes, even I can do the math! 180 - 12 = 168, which puts YOU BELOW your new goal!!! You rock Babs, you have worked really hard for this grand scale Victory!
  15. Well, in this country, people are supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Terrible thing, this double homicide. But it was way tacky sending a flyer to you, no phone call, no personal letter. I say, send positive energy to your family, all of it. But don't send the money you don't have. Call your family, who knows, this terrible tragidy could be the thing that pulls your family closer.

I love the snow too! Of course, Seattle's weather is very much like yours Bright, our rainy season starts in late Sept and ends in July... We generally get a light dusting of snow every year, and a couple of inches is enough to paralize the entire Puget Sound area! We're very funny. Of course, I'm now in Idaho, and we've still got snow from December hanging around. I have to laugh at what the people in So Cal are saying. (yes I know, the floods and hillslides are no laughing matter. Sorry, I'm very insensitive...) "We've had rain for a entire week!" Try having rain for a "double-biblical." I'm jsut a jerk, what can I say.
  17. My dad used to call me "Little Kittle" after the little perfume dolls in the very early 60's. He also used to call my "CR-babe" but would threaten to call me "C-R-Y babe" when I was in a bad mood... I too am a namer. I rarely call my son by his given name --I normally call him some form of Spudboy (I also love Devo), or Sponker. My dog's name is Astro, but I usually call him "'Strodo" obviously short for "Astrodomaugra daugra." All my extra boys and girls have names too...
  18. The last time I had my brows waxed they got infected. No such issues with the laser. Make sure that you get the jell! It makes a huge difference. The place I got is a day spa, so I get a nice relaxing 90 minute nap before the treatment.
  19. Here's a pix of my DH and the psychotic puppy we had... This is before Mike got his band.
  20. uhm, ya'll will never belive this, but anything by The Ramones...
  21. Wow! Heels! I can't even imagine being in heel and walking anywhere! <cue thunderous applause!>
  22. One thing I’ve prided myself on is that I haven’t been a big dieter. I watched my mother struggle through one diet after another, and always having initial success only to see the weight return. Notice I didn’t say “fail” or “failure.” After thinking about all the different diets that have been posted here, I realized that I’ve been on a big whack of them. Weight Watchers, Neutrasystem (can I get a new gall bladder?), the grapefruit diet, different food combinations diets, the cabbage soup diet (love cabbage soup…), different supervised diets, giving up chocolate for lent (gained 15 pounds during that lent.), Atkins, and I’m sure there half a dozen more that I have blocked out of my memory… So. It turns out that I have been a big dieter all along. Funny how I don’t recognize things while they are happening.
  23. My DH frequently orders off the appatizer menue, and sometimes we share.
  24. Nancy, I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face as well. My very old dog will need to be put down soon. He's very old, and is having mobility problems. He is having a very difficult time going up and down stairs.
