  1. Hmm, don't lose sight of the fact that you will one day NOT HAVE TO THINK ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT. You will be able to ease waht you like, because you won't need to think about losing weight, OR gaining.
  2. That's okay Jonathan, do does my DH...
  3. That's my date too! Okay, I'm getting a little panicked as reality sets in.
  4. okay, fine! Be that way Kelly! Hurmph I am perfectly happy with my curly hair, thank you very much! Alright, you got me on the other suff. Happy? (she tries to act indignant, but can't qulite pull it off.)
  5. Note, for any DEA, NSA, ABT, FBI, or truancy officers, Delarla is joking. JOKING!
  6. Breakfast, 2 mugs of tea w/ splenda & 2 tsp 1/2 & 1/2 20 cal lunch, 2 corn dogs with brown mustard 360 cal (the protien helps counter act the corn...) 2 TBL brown mustard 10 cal (They seem to only have about 6 different mustards in SE ID! What's up with that?) Total Calories: 400 Total Carbs: 30 G Total Protein: 14 G Total Fats: 20 G Total Water: 16 oz (not counting the 32 oz of tea)
  7. Delarla, do you know the difference between God and a doctor? God knows he's not a doctor.... I'm sitting here making "chuffing" noises at the though of this trumped up peacock, and his treatment of you. Kharma will, unfortunately, catch up with him. Unfortunatly for him, man, that is some bad kharma. Anyway, I'm glad to hear you are "back!"
  8. It's a little more complex than that, although I believe that is a minor theme. A stronger theme is society's duplicity. While I don't think she specificually mentions trends like emliminating PE classes and recesses from schools, she alludes to them as part of the culpret. We are becoming more sedentary as a socity and eating more highly processed foods, which are a double whammy.
  9. Woot! congrats! Don't forget to post that on the before and after pix thread! might I add, you look mah-vu-lous
  10. Gee Donali, isn't that funny! I haven't thought about being a "cusper" in a very long time. But sure explains some things doesn't it. hmmmm. I've had several bosses, at different companies describe me as a "weird hybrid creature." I claim Pisceses too. Back to the main point of the thread... My DH thought watching what she did with it was more thought provoking than anything else, her take on fat in america. The writer/director of the movie is a doctor, and apperently treats a lot of MO folks. wht the exception of 3 of the characters, eveybody is named after food. Iin the future, according to the movie, all fat people are rounded up and placed in concentration camps where they are forceably put on diets and made to excersice by the "body natzis." The movie is set a generation after that.
  11. how old am I? well, that all depends, doesn't it. Some days, especially when I don't wear my cpap mask all night I feel very, very old indeed. Like my grandmother old, and she's 92... Some days I feel very young, like when the receptionist at the dentist asked my son if his sister could sign the HIPAA forms.... (he doesn't have a sister...) As time is linerally tracked, I am 42...
  12. well, let me put it this way, when I worked at Boeing doing tech support, I was known as "the purple haired lady"... Lately I'm experimenting with multiple hues.. Yup, I'm a big fat lady with technicolor hair with a penchent for aminal prints... I just wanted to make sure they couldn't miss me here in SE ID...
  13. thanks, but no soy for me. It has the same effect as corn -- makes me ravinously hungry!
  14. Actually, he was an actor in the movie, he didn't write it. I tease him that now that he's a famous movie star (he's actually listed in IMDB.com!) that I suppose I'll have to dye my hair platinum blond... (I believe my normal hair color is Chestnut...) The movie has won several awards already! This winter, while I was having such terrible breathing problems, I would have to tell him to slow down so I could keep up. Talk about your role reversals! I think he should be on Oprah too. He would like to lose about 320 pounds, so he is just over half way there.
  15. so, can we trade these rep points in like green stamps or Betty Crocker points?
  16. Thanks for the energy! I passed my statistics class! While I didn't quite ace the final (I got dinged hard for every little math error...) I did well enough that I'm statistically slightly better than average! Man, and I thought Chemistry was hard! I neve worked so hard for a "C" in my life! Again, thanks for the well wishes, you guys are the best!
  17. He's been banded for about two years, I don't know the exact date. His starting weight was officially 596 pounds, and he's now down to about 420 pounds. He's been at a plateau for the last three months, but he's started to work with a personal trainer. He had a BMI of over 80. To give you an idea of how big he was, he could not walk thorough a normal doorway. He had to squeeze through every door way he past through. For some of us, that is 1 to 2 addtional people our size that he had to carry around with him every single day. I believe that he is off all his medications -- he was diabetic and had high blood pressure to name just a couple of his issues. He had an enlarged heart. (I told him that when he was told what a big-hearted fellow that he wasn't supposed to take it litterally) He also hasn't had a single bout of celulitus, which is really scary when that hits. (celulitus is an infection of the skin. Very nasty, and he always ends up in hospital when it hits. The last time he had a temp of 106F. Yeah.) He had an sore on his calf that just wouldn't heal, and had to have a portion of the skin and tissue removed. He had a skin graft placed, which given his weight and the placement of the graft, it is totally amazing that it worked/took. As a present for getting the Band, I enrolled him in the motorcycle saftey course. A year after his band, his bike broke down and he had to push the thing 3 miles. That was an amazing NSV.. he had gone from not being able to walk more than a couple of yards to pushing a fairly big bike 3 miles. And we aren't talking flat land.. he had to push it up a hill.
  18. I just discovered that my husban's movie is now available on Amazone.com... This movie was filmed when he was at his biggest. It is funny and disturbing, maybe moreso for me than most because it forces me to see how big he actually was... Muffin Man, the movie -- Extinction isn’t pretty http://www.muffinmanthemovie.com/Home.htm Muffin Man is a hilarious and frightening look at the obesity epidemic and social dysfunction that led to the extinction of the human race. In the film, anthropologists from a distant galaxy are studying the ancient planet, Earth. Presented "mocumentary" style as a history lesson for alien viewers, the story follows the evolution of humans from Homo Sapiens (Modern Man) to Homo Twinkus (a.k.a. ... Muffin Man), while simultaneously interweaving an age-old love story: Boy meets girl. Boy fights abusive ex-boyfriend to win girl’s heart. Boy has an ill-fated encounter with one too many donuts. Through scientific discovery the aliens piece together our story of extinction by consumption. Part Discovery Channel and part Monty Python, Muffin Man is a campy, fun, in your face, and politically incorrect romp across America’s warped cultural landscape ... so grab a giant tub of popcorn covered in a buttery flavored substance, supersize that drink, and hang on for the ride! It’s now available on Amazon. 21. I sort of thought that being a size 12 would be all the reward I needed... I was looking farward to all the NSVs that I would collect along the way, like merit badges or blue ribbons from the county fair. It never occured to me there would be stuff like DAY SPAS!!!!!!!
  22. The band literally saved my marriage. <o =""></o> <o =""></o>Before my husband got banded, we were heading right towards a divorce. Before the band, all intimacy had left our relationship. I’m not just talking about sex, but the emotional and spiritual connection that are key components of a healthy and loving relationship. He had gained nearly 200 pounds in the first year we were married, and that was too much for our relationship to handle. He had brought in a whole second big person…. We had ceased to be husband and wife, and instead became roommates who had little interaction. He had even stopped sleeping in bed with me. Part of the reason for this was that at 600 pounds he couldn’t breathe lying down, and would sleep sitting propped up on the sofa.<o =""> </o> Well, Mike is currently sitting at minus 180 pounds, which puts him back at 420 pounds. He is once again the romantic man that courted me and won my heart, despite my shallowness at not wanting to date someone that freaking big. Once again, he is emotionally available to me. <o =""></o> When I go home to visit, we are now constantly going and doing! Movies! Shopping at HomeDepot! Other fun activitied too...<o =""></o> <o =""></o>It is amazing how a relationship can grow when you aren’t waiting for the other person to drop dead…<o =""></o>
