I was sleeved 2/25/13 and i am currently in the pureed foods phase of my post op diet. More often than not i get the very familiar feeling of hunger/emptiness in my tummy. Am I hungry or is this just gas playing tricks on me? It really feels like hunger though! Help! Anyone feeling this as well?

I was sick too. I asked the anesthesiologist on day of surgery and he said I was good to go if I didn't have a fever.

I'm the 20 so I feel the Same way ! I have a mixed set of emotions and Im just patiently waiting cause I really think that we are here for one reason and one reason only TO BR HEALTHY! My fear is that I won't be able to drink ( sounds weird right) but it is . We must maintain a positive outlook and just support each other . You will do great after the procedure .

It is my understanding that doctors strongly recommend birth control for at least a year after surgery. Talk to your dr. I was on depo and loved it, but had to switch because its not for "long term."

Anything pre prepared (in a can) is going to have a ton of sodium.
Honestly chicken broth is really simple to make. My wife made me a big pot of it after surgery, then we just portioned it out into 8 ounce containers so I could grab one & zap it.

What about the copper IUD? No hormones no weight gain ... stays up there for 5 years. Can be easily taken out if u decide you want babies beforehand .... it's the only BC that hasn't led me to gain weight. I got one when I was 22. No babies.

    Good Morning Sleevers,
I am 23 years old and DOMINICAN! I was wondering how all my hispanics have gotten through the obstacles or resisting our carb loaded, sometimes greasy but amazing delectable cuisine? I love myself a nice plate of rice and Beans with some type of Protein on the side and nice little salad.
I just want to know how you guys have gotten through it without the rice and Beans i guess LOL

i've told quite a few people about wanting to get sleeved, almost all have been supportive with the exception of 2, 1 totally disagrees with my decision and the other swears that i can do it on my own, but what they fail to realize is that i have been trying to do it on my own for my entire life and i haven't succeeded. No one knows your struggle other than yourself, and the people closest to you such as parents, spouse, kids, even your primary care doc (depending on how long you've been seeing your pcp).

deli89 got a reaction from annabelle in 1 step closer to getting sleeved
Today i visited my PCP and got my letter of support. YAY!
My next step is the Psych Evaluation (which i have this thursday), 2 support groups at the surgeon's office (required by the surgeon), and then I schedule my 2nd visit w/ the surgeon during which i receive a surgery date!
i know it's not a huge deal, BUT this puts me 1 step closer to getting sleeved and starting a new life.
I'm still really nervous about the insurance company approving me. I have HealthFirst, i live in NYC

My PCP's office called me today to let me know they are submitting to my insurance today! I'm anxious and extremely nervous! The referral coordinator did not foresee any problems/issues with getting my approval, but I'm such an anxious person that I can't stop worrying! Hopefully I hear something by end of the week/early next week!

    Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site (and blogging). I'm 23 years old from the Bronx, NY, 220lbs, 5'3", BMI 39.
I started my journey this Thursday 12/27/12 with my first consultation @ Dr. Scott Belsley's office. I was very please with how they treated me. According to my insurance (Healthfirst) all i need is 2 consecutive monthly visits to my PCP. Besides that I will need a Psych eval, pre op testing and that's pretty much it. I've been extremely anxious about the process because i'm afraid to get denied by my insurance. I have also never had any type of surgery and I dont do well with pain. I feel like i'm going to get cold feet at the last minute and i'm really hoping i dont because i'm ready for my life to change. ANOTHER BIG FEAR OF MINE IS Hair loss. I heard that i affects you 4-7 months post op. i'm so not looking forward to that.
Feedback on your experiences with insurance process, post-op, fears, hair loss, post op dieting would be highly appreciated..
