  1. Dr. Scott Belsley was my surgeon and i have the same insurance as you. He's affiliated with St Luke-Roosevelt hospital in manhattan. Google him and give them a call. I am extremely satisfied with my experience at his office, as well as my surgery.
  2. no i'm not taking anything. i got a prescription for a few things that i havent filled and i think an antacid was one of them. that's a weird way for acid to manifest.
  3. shouldn't you be advancing to the next phase of post op diet?
  4. I was sleeved 2/25/13 and i am currently in the pureed foods phase of my post op diet. More often than not i get the very familiar feeling of hunger/emptiness in my tummy. Am I hungry or is this just gas playing tricks on me? It really feels like hunger though! Help! Anyone feeling this as well?

  6. Thanks everyone! i spoke to my surgeon's office today and basically he wants to switch me for the next available date. His receptionist is a doll and said that she'll keep me on for monday and she'll call me these next few days to see how i'm feeling. i'm trying to stay optimistic about getting sleeved on monday. My pcp wants me to go see her tomorrow afternoon hopefully she can give me some antibiotics.
  7. Thank You i emailed my PCP and i will call my surgeon's office tomorrow

  10. when i first started to consider weight loss surgery i did come across gastric plication. I did some googling around and it's rather new and they dont really know the long term effect of plication or how effective it is for weight loss.
  11. i suggest that you switch PCP and consult with a with an OBGYN regarding which birth control option is right for you. I've been with my PCP for almost 7 years and she more than anyone knows my struggle with weight loss throughout the years. When i told her about my decision to get sleeved she was thrilled. She has been very supportive and I made sure that I expressed how thankful i was for her support. She had no hesitation in writing my letter of support for surgery.
  12. Good Morning Sleevers, I am 23 years old and DOMINICAN! I was wondering how all my hispanics have gotten through the obstacles or resisting our carb loaded, sometimes greasy but amazing delectable cuisine? I love myself a nice plate of rice and Beans with some type of Protein on the side and nice little salad. I just want to know how you guys have gotten through it without the rice and beans i guess LOL
  13. Thank you. I hope you hear back from your INS soon. Best of luck
  14. Dr. Belsley's office, he's affiliated with St. Luke's Roosevelt.
  15. i've told quite a few people about wanting to get sleeved, almost all have been supportive with the exception of 2, 1 totally disagrees with my decision and the other swears that i can do it on my own, but what they fail to realize is that i have been trying to do it on my own for my entire life and i haven't succeeded. No one knows your struggle other than yourself, and the people closest to you such as parents, spouse, kids, even your primary care doc (depending on how long you've been seeing your pcp).
  16. Today i visited my PCP and got my letter of support. YAY! My next step is the Psych Evaluation (which i have this thursday), 2 support groups at the surgeon's office (required by the surgeon), and then I schedule my 2nd visit w/ the surgeon during which i receive a surgery date! i know it's not a huge deal, BUT this puts me 1 step closer to getting sleeved and starting a new life. I'm still really nervous about the insurance company approving me. I have HealthFirst, i live in NYC
  17. Hello everyone, I'm new to this site (and blogging). I'm 23 years old from the Bronx, NY, 220lbs, 5'3", BMI 39. I started my journey this Thursday 12/27/12 with my first consultation @ Dr. Scott Belsley's office. I was very please with how they treated me. According to my insurance (Healthfirst) all i need is 2 consecutive monthly visits to my PCP. Besides that I will need a Psych eval, pre op testing and that's pretty much it. I've been extremely anxious about the process because i'm afraid to get denied by my insurance. I have also never had any type of surgery and I dont do well with pain. I feel like i'm going to get cold feet at the last minute and i'm really hoping i dont because i'm ready for my life to change. ANOTHER BIG FEAR OF MINE IS hair LOSS. I heard that i affects you 4-7 months post op. i'm so not looking forward to that. Feedback on your experiences with insurance process, post-op, fears, hair loss, post op dieting would be highly appreciated..
  18. i called Dr. Belsley's office directly, no seminars required, just 2 support groups ( as you mentioned) pcp letter, psych eval, pre op testing
  19. HELLO, i just had my first consultation with him this past thursday 12/27/12. I liked my first experience with him and his office staff and i've also read amazing things about him
