Sleevers over 300lbs?
You are not alone... I started at 358# a little over six months ago. And I have lost over 100#. Honestly, I think it depends on the surgeon. Mine was suggesting the sleeve from the beginning. The results are pretty similar.

My surgery was 6 months ago. Any questions I can help you with ai will do my best. With my insurance I had to do 3 months of classes. It was during those classes we got our pre-op diet and our post op diet. I remember them talking about how little we would eat after surgery and I thought they were nuts lol! Guess what they were right hahahahaha. The pre op diet Basically, it was a 1200 calories diet ( which you can get online for free). One month from the surgery we went to 2 protien shakes a day and a small meal a day with 2 Snacks ( about 1200 calories a day). Basically they wanted us to get used to drinking the shakes. And also to lose a little weight before surgery to shrink the liver. It makes the surgery more smooth. Hope this info helps!

Newbie
Hi and congratulations on your surgery date! As to what it is like.... well I stayed in the hospital 3 days , 2 nights. My pain levels were not bad. Much in part I believe because my surgeon gave me preventive medicines. A patch for nausea, morphine pump (which I really did not needed much). In the hospital I walked the halls a lot. That helped to relieve the gas pressure in the stomach and chest area. My surgeon used glue instead of surgical strips.... because he used glue I was able to shower the next day while still in the hospital. Coming home from the hospital was a challenge...... Mostly to drink enough fluids... I actually had to use a kitchen timer to remind myself to drink 1 oz ever 15 minutes. That worked and I was able to get in all the fluids. Everyone has a different journey.... I got tons of good ideas from this web site. I wish you great success!

cheese82 Sorry you feel that way. In the begining I felt the same way. I have very supportive people surrounding me. But, I just could not put to words all the emotions I felt. Somehow those feelings passed. Eventually I have been able to verbalize my feelings. Honestly, it helped to read some post on this web site. It helped to know that many on here share those same issues. I realized I am not alone.

1 week Post Op. Trip to grocery store overwhelming
What i did was boil some chicken, carrots, and onion with seasoning of your choice. make sure you have enough liquid. When it was cooked and cooled a bit I would puree it in a small blender. It had better flavor than baby food. I also put a beef roast and veggies in a crock pot. The process was the same. That helped me get through that phase of the eating plan. However, if cooking is just not reasonable for you..... pureed baby food is a option.

I have something to say!
Hi this is your journey.... we all have to do what works best for us individually. Good for you speaking what you really feel. unfortunately the nature of this type of web site is we will encounter folks who are judgemental. However, that being said it does not mean their opinion is correct. Thank you for your boldness to be you!

3 weeks post helpppp!
I did not do well with oatmeal either. I finally used 1/2 of the packets and made it really watery. That worked I did not eat it much..... Just did not care for the way I feel when it lands in my sleeve. To this day I do not eat much bread at all. I do not like the way I feel after. I took 3 bites of bread and it felt like I swallowed a sponge. I am just over 6 months and still stay away from bread. We are all different.... It takes time to re-learn what works and what will not. Hang in there..... You got this!!!

Learn something about yourself since surgery you never knew before?
Yes...great question.... Many things have changed for me... I can eat a few bites and walk away without eating the whole rack of ribs, I used to love, love fried greasy foods and now the smell of oil makes me nauseated. I still love chocolate!!! Still love veggies. And finally I am not as big boned as I thought! Interesting what I look like with bones showing! Again thank you for this question!

too much time off!
I was off for 2 months... I am required to lift 50 # and am on my feet all day. It was nice to have that jump start at home. You will have the time to focus on your new life.. food routine and exercise routine. I spent many days walking around the block to build up some stamina. And even still after the two months I was really tired upon returning to work. Best wishes to you....
