  1. So sorry to here this, and yes, not everyone's esophagus is 100% straight like they look in the charts on the walls. I also have this problem - fun fact, its nearly impossible for me to burp because of it. I burp maybe twice a year? It blows my mind when I do because its such a rare thing for me. My office allows for us to come in for IV fluids at any time if we think we need them immediately post op. All we have to do is call and tell them whats going on and come in and they will give us a unit or two in the office. I wish that was more common, people get WAY too sick before they deal with this problem, and everything feels worse when you are dehydrated.
  2. I am slowly but surely stacking up some recipes. I just bought a pack of index cards and I have been all over the net taking down simple recipes. Some of them I have saved on Pinterest, so I will link that. Not every recipe there is perfect for what you are looking for, and some of them are for entertaining but I try to keep it to mostly low carb stuff. On another note though, where do you buy almond flour? I'm having trouble locating a.... affordable source. http://pinterest.com/holypeas/food/
  3. Honestly, I did not. It's probably better to if you can, but I flat out did not have the energy.
  4. I'm not the confrontational type, but I have a serious problem with talking to people who are about to have this surgery as though carbonated beverages are something they should EVER be considering again. I get it - none of us are perfect, hell, I had a diet slip up yesterday so I'm not saying this to tear you apart, stir up anything or even invalidate your experience but the facts are that while we will always be able to go back to our favorite foods in moderation, carbonated beverages are something that none of us should really be having if we are going to have this surgery- ever. FatMamaW, carbonated beverages are something you need to be prepared to say goodbye to if you want this surgery, and almost any surgeon will support that statement. Off the top of my head, as a medical professional, I cannot think of many other actions that are singularly as destructive to your sleeve as going back to sodas, and beers. Please educate yourself on this matter.
  5. DO NOT get the sleeve if you think its OK to have soda after. You're wasting your time.
  6. I tolerated it fine as part of my full liquid stage that I am on. I actually prefer tomato bisque which does have a little but of chunk to it, but I just blended it up before I cooked it.

As a nurse I can tell you that they are not going to hand over medical waste to you. Sorry. Ask for a picture. Also, save yourself the embarrassment, they will look at you like you have three heads.
  8. I would NOT purchase this. as Aaron in Tulsa said, it looks super scammy. Go to the grocery store and pick up some fiber supplements and find out what you like best. You don't need some kind of designer fiber that may or may not even be legit.
  9. YEP extra protein gets stored as fat just like anything else. I would stick to the standard 60-70 grams a day. Anything more than that is probably just slowing down weight loss unless you are working out hard.
  10. I'm on day 8 and haven't lost anything remarkable either.
  11. Just be careful. I had food funerals too, but still managed to lose weight, even prior to my preop diet. People have strong feelings about whether or not this is healthy behavior. For me, its hard to say. I had Chinese "one last time" about three times, pizza, and Red Robin chicken Sandwiches all before I needed to start my diet. I still lost 8 pounds during this period of time though because I may have had one huge disgustingly bad meal, but it was all I had that day. Just don't binge eat all day every day, and be ready to stop this when you need too.
  12. A tat that has already been ruined will not go back to normal. The pigment has already been distorted.
  13. It's easier than people think to gain weight with the sleeve. There is a popular thread right now of a woman who self admittedly was eating too much, too soon, and at 7 weeks out has gained 20 pounds. She doesn't disclose any symptoms that would seem to indicate that the gain is from some other source, but will not acknowledged the fact that in previous posts she had admitted to not being able to stop eating. Even though she is in the soft stage still, she has gained. IT IS POSSIBLE, and in my opinion, this type of thing is why psych evaluations are SO important. You CAN gain weight. YOU CAN GAIN WEIGHT. YOU CAN GAIN WEIGHT.
  14. ummm yeah kind of. Ask for a picture lol. More than likely they will not release biohazardous medical waste (thats what it is after its out of us) to you anyway so spare yourself the embarrassment lol.
  15. THAT IS A CRAZY WAIT. Can you contact your insurance company to ask for a prior authorization to step out of network considering the situation you find yourself in?
  16. So when you say they dont have any availability what do you mean? Have they told you flat out that they WILL NOT see you? I would NOT pay cash for an eval if you have insurance, I would press them harder, that is unacceptable.
  17. that makes me feel better, I haven't lost much this first week at all. Thank you for sharing.
  18. lmao you crack me up. AND IT HURTS. I'm fresh out of surgery dammit!
  19. yeah I dont think you have anything to worry about. The soup is just running though the sleeve, especially if you took it slow. That is why we are supposed to swear off anything we need a spoon for after the healing period of time.
  20. YEP, I just wanted to make a note of that because sometimes we are overly emotional post op and I didn't want OP to say something she will regret. In my personal opinion I really don't think she should say anything at all because I can't envision a way for that to go down without OP coming off as needy, but thats just my personal opinion based on my own workplace experience. I do realize that every job environment is a little different, but I know if I said something about not getting something at my place of business people would immediately think "who the hell does she think she is" lol, you know what I mean?
  21. Hello! In my operating room experience what I can tell you is that once you are out your entire body is draped in sterile surgical fields. the only part of the body exposed is the window in which we are operating. If when you are lying flat and your boobs are still in the way we would either just push them off to the sides towards your arms. its nothing to be embarrassed or worried about. EDIT: Yes, sometimes we use tape lol
