Does anyone know if tomato soup is ok on the postoperative liquid diet.This is half way thru my second week, and I am getting hungry.

I was cleared for full liquids my second week and tomato soup was the first thing I wanted and had! Also cream soups! So much better than broth.

I have been having cream soups just not sure about tomato.

Don't forget tomatoes have alot of acid in them

Everyone is different. Sip slowly and wait a few minutes to be sure

I tolerated tomato fine, the only one I had issues with was the creamy tomato parm- it was too oily. I hope this helps.

Asked my surgeon and he said not for a while because of the acid, I would eat a garden of tomatoes I am so freakin hungry. I just started my 2cnd week and I go see him tomorrow and I want to know about mashed potatoes!!

I am one week out and have had tomato soup twice with no troubles.

I had tomato soup from day 3. Was a lifesaver

I tolerated it fine as part of my full liquid stage that I am on. I actually prefer tomato bisque which does have a little but of chunk to it, but I just blended it up before I cooked it.
