  1. I am unbelievably cranky today. I fell asleep nauseated (not sure why) and it seems to have put me in a FUNK lol.
  2. So I'm on day 20 and experiencing some issues. First, I haven't really lost weight in 9 or 10 days regardless of the fact that I am eating about 600-800 calories a day and getting plenty of activity. Also, constipation has been more of an issue than I thought it would be. I've taken a few doses of Milk of Mag and that does the trick but I don't want to be laxative dependent How soon are Fiber supplements advisable? Anyone know of any that wont make you bloated and gassy? Also, I came down with a urinary tract infection that I am sort of self medicating but I am wondering if I am somehow not getting enough fluids? I am drinking more than I did prior to surgery so it could just be a coincidence, I don't know. Overall not feeling well. Up until about two days ago I was doing fantastic, but then I hit a wall and I am tired, a little bit sick, and sort of cranky about not seeing any movement on the scale. So I guess I am asking annoying question about stalls but I kind of want to know how often I should expect them? I am not exactly surprised at this one because I did lose ALMOST 30 pounds in a month or so I expected this was coming. I have been told that they can happen every 30 pounds? Is that what most people experience or does it just sort of vary? I know the vets of this site probably get sick of questions about stalls and I can assure you that I used the search function before asking this but I just don't find our search function to be very good, I can never really find what I am looking for with it, unfortunately so please forgive me. EDIT: I just wanted to add, I was thinking of fasting today before my weigh in tomorrow (that is a sampling of the crazy stuff I used to do) but decided against that. I am going to keep steady with my dietary intake as my doctor has told me regardless of the fact that I have not seen any weight loss but it's definitely getting in my head a little bit. I can't believe I was thinking about fasting again.
  3. There are different schools of thought on this. My doctor does not really push for protein supplementation forever unless you want to be a body builder, however we are supposed to be doing protein first. I think that if you have an eye toward protein from actual real food sources, it naturally lets your calories and carb issues fall into place a little more simply. So I do pay attention to it.
  4. that is perfectly acceptable! You don't have to tell anyone!
  5. I had fatigue for about the first 7 days, then I felt fantastic, but I will say today at day 20 I'm not eating a lot and I'm not on liquids anymore and I'm dealing with being tired again. Should probably up my protein.
  6. I was told to wait for 6 weeks but I can't really eat nuts in moderation so I can't buy them. They are healthy usually but they do have fat content and I don't leave them alone. I also feel like they might be something that slide down too easily.
  7. some is OK, I would limit it to a few ounces though... sugar content and all.
  8. Its you choice in the end, however its important to consider your husband's feelings. I wish you would have expounded a little bit more then you said he was controlling. Is he controlling in all aspects, or just this? My husband was not thrilled for this either, he came around but I put off this surgery twice on his account because relationships are give and take, and I wanted him to be informed and comfortable.
  9. I started taking chewable gummies at day 5.
  10. not to mention most people do them incorrectly and just end up with sore necks
  11. Im having thw same problem. I tore my electric blanket out of the closet and started using it again.
  12. the longer you go without that, the easier it becomes. IF YOU MUST, please at least let it get flat.
  13. You need to relax. You just had surgery. You are not going to starve to death, I promise you are OK. Keep sipping. It gets better every day. One good tip I can give you is to have everything warm. When I was fresh out of surgery I could do twice as much warm fluid as I could cold stuff.
  14. I think part of it is because it feels really strange to get up in the evening and eat a Breakfast meal and carry on with normal meals throughout the night as one would if it were day time. I don't know why. It's like.... I invert my sleep just fine (usually), but inverting my meals feels weird. I still eat like I would had I been up all day and then decided to stay up all night even though I am on a different schedule and HAVE NOT BEEN UP ALL DAY.
  15. I'm sure you will be fine. Lesson learned right? I messed up a few days ago and had frozen yogurt. I am still shaking my head at myself wondering why I did that. I was pretty ill from it too. hopefully your stomach isn't too inflamed from getting sick. You may want to go back to softer foods for a day or two just to take it easy.
  16. Thanks. It kind of sucks, and I am looking for work right now so I am at home WAY TOO MUCH which is leading to a certain amount of boredom too. Hopefully I'll get some calls soon. I log what I eat now so it kind of stops me from eating, and I don't have a lot of snackable type of foods either so that helps. I pulled out my workout clothes that I had outgrown prior to surgery and most of them fit now so yesterday I ended up just going for a nice long walk but I did freeze my ass off.
  17. That could be it too however personally I THINK I am eating enough. I am averaging about 600 calories a day but I've been making them count for the most part with good Protein and stuff. It's also not helping that I am looking for work right now so I am at home TOO MUCH.
  18. So now that I had surgery 17 days ago and cannot physically feel hunger its really forced me to take a second look at where my other ques to eat are coming from, because believe me, I still think about eating. I know that this is a leftover remnant of bad habits I picked up in nursing school but I realized today that I have a tendency to want to graze/binge/stuff myself when I am sleep deprived, which is often because I have issues with sleep. I used to be in class all day, come home and study for an ungodly amount of hours, fall asleep over my books, wake up and repeat for two years. I used to eat copious amounts of sugar and consume insane amounts of caffeine to stay alert because I was on the road a lot and I had a lot of things that demanded my attention. So now I have this weird instinct to want to eat when I am tired instead of wanting to go lay down and get some rest. I am going to have to work on getting my signals uncrossed. Does anyone else deal with this? I know that its common to think you are hungry when you are actually thirsty as well but I don't deal with that as much as the whole sleep issue.
  19. look into private hospitals, they can usually push things through a lot faster.
  20. yeah pretty much, I forgot she was so fresh out of surgery when I typed that. Chances are whats done is done anyway but yeah, when you are fresh post op throwing up isn't ideal.
  21. totally true, forgot she was so early out.
  22. Is the surgeon that doesnt work with the hospital in a private facility? Thats what it sounds like. I would go with the private facility all day long. You usually get faster, more personalized service because they can do what they want and dont have to bend to every whim of the hospital but thats just me. I had mine in a private facility and I am so glad I did.
  23. yep, thats a fairly common source and most insurance companies accept it.
  24. wow. hair loss THAT extreme usually doesn't make much to do with weight loss surgery but I suppose it could have triggered something in you that has caused your hair to fall out. Have you looked into wigs? I went through a period of time that my hair loss from my thyroid condition was so extreme (in my mind, looking back it wasn't SO BAD) that I bought and wore a wig for a short period of time. If you are interested a good place to start researching is youtube, and also from experience I recommend wigs that have bangs of some sort because besides a very low quality of hair overall, the most telltale sign someone is wearing a wig is the hairline.
